How to Unlock Helio in MW4
Helio is the end of the DMZ mastery ladder, not a standalone reward for reaching a particular DMZ player rank. Its progression passes through both earlier DMZ mastery camos.
- Level weapons and unlock their Military camos.
- Complete the Special camo challenges associated with those weapons.
- Advance through Gold, Platinum and Harmonic Break, then earn Divergence.
- Complete Chiral to progress beyond DMZ Mastery 1.
- Complete Ripple Tide to open the Helio Mastery challenge.
- Complete Helio's own challenge to earn the final DMZ camo.
Helio belongs to MW4's DMZ weapon-mastery system. It should not be confused with rewards from leveling the separate DMZ career progression track or with the Pyroclast camos earned through Weapon Prestige.
Helio Requirement and Weapon Count
Completing Ripple Tide opens the Helio DMZ Mastery challenge. Helio’s objective involves eliminations using Legendary weapons under specific Operator conditions. Check the active camo entry in Gunsmith for the exact conditions and progress.
The order remains Chiral, Ripple Tide and Helio. Neither DMZ player rank alone nor the completion of another mode’s final mastery camo awards Helio.

How Long Does Helio Take?
The full Helio journey includes weapon leveling, Special camo challenges, the Completionist chain, Chiral, Ripple Tide and Helio’s own objective.
Players who already have Divergence start closer to the DMZ Mastery sequence than those beginning with fresh weapons. Chiral’s enemy objective, Ripple Tide’s extraction objective and Helio’s Legendary-weapon objective demand different types of progress, so there is no single useful completion time for everyone.
DMZ early access for digital preorders starts October 20, with full release October 23. Progress earned in early access carries into the full game.
DMZ Tips for the Helio Grind
Handle Helio as a sequence of different challenges:
- Complete the shared camo foundation. Military, Special, Gold, Platinum, Harmonic Break and Divergence come before DMZ Mastery.
- Finish Chiral. Its DMZ Mastery objective involves eliminating enemies.
- Finish Ripple Tide. This stage centers on extracting dog tags rather than repeating Chiral’s objective.
- Switch to Helio’s conditions. The final stage involves Legendary weapons and an Operator requirement. Read its Gunsmith objective before each session.
DMZ player-level rewards are separate from weapon-camo mastery. The final Warzone camo, Empyros, also belongs to a different mode and starts in Season 1. See the mastery-camo hub to compare those paths.
