Mafia: The Old Country Trophy Guide Quick Info
The PlayStation trophy guides hub includes much longer story platinums. Mafia: The Old Country stays compact as long as you start on Hard and secure the Chapter 3 safe trophy at the first opportunity.
Mafia: The Old Country Platinum Roadmap
Phase 1: Complete the Story on Hard
Select Hard when starting a new game and leave the difficulty unchanged through the Prologue and all 14 chapters. This earns True Soldato and The Old Country together at the end of Chapter 14. Hard is manageable if you stay in cover, loot defeated enemies, use headshots, and let Enzo recover his first health segment before re-engaging.
Your only irreversible priority is Salvatore's Apprentice in Chapter 3. At the citrus farm, enter 10-20-30 into the safe before reading either combination note. Do this even if you intend to leave every other optional trophy for Chapter Replay.
Several chapter trophies are worth taking during the story:
| Chapter | Trophies to target |
|---|---|
| Chapter 3 | Garden Rendezvous, Salvatore's Apprentice |
| Chapter 5 | Fantasma, Live by the Blade, Man of Honor |
| Chapter 7 | Full Steam Ahead, Fastest Man in Sicily |
| Chapter 9 | The Old Ways |
| Chapter 11 | Trail of Destruction and weapon-kill farming |
| Chapter 13 | Silent Hunter, Not So Fast |
| Chapter 14 | Worthy Opponent |
Pick up story-only collectibles when convenient, but do not restart the whole campaign for one missed item. The Ghost of Tsushima trophy guide also rewards clearing a large collectible map, while Mafia: The Old Country limits most cleanup to a few focused Free Ride sessions.
Phase 2: Finish the 143 Collectibles
After the story, use Free Ride for open-world items and Chapter Replay for chapter-exclusive locations. The Collector requires 50 Mystery Foxes, 50 Newspapers, 23 Photographs, and 20 Saints' Cards. The game saves each collectible immediately, so you can leave a replayed chapter after the pickup registers.
Twenty-five trophy-relevant collectibles are tied to story spaces. Use the Collection menu to check totals before revisiting chapters. Mystery Foxes are the exception to normal map tracking because they do not appear until collected, so keep a separate checklist for all 50.
Phase 3: Farm Combat, Money, and Vehicle Trophies
Chapter 11 is the best general combat farm because enemies carry every weapon type. Select the weapon you need, earn several kills, then restart the checkpoint. Kill progress survives the restart. Use the same approach for grenades, headshots, and knife takedowns.
For money, replay the start of Chapter 7. Open the two blue chests in the first room, restart the checkpoint, and repeat. A practical cleanup budget is about 17,000 Dinari: 11,000 for seven purchasable cars, 5,000 for the Pasquale Mystery Fox, and 1,000 for car customization.
Finish Getaway Driver, Daredevil, Good as New, and any remaining purchases in Free Ride. The Don unlocks once all 50 other base-game trophies are complete.
Does Difficulty Affect Trophies in Mafia: The Old Country?
Yes. True Soldato requires a complete Hard run from the Prologue through Chapter 14. Replaying only the final chapter on Hard does not work, and changing from an easier difficulty near the end does not count.
A September 2025 update addressed the original True Soldato unlock problem linked to briefly lowering the difficulty and switching it back. The safest route is still to begin a new game on Hard on the current version and avoid opening or changing the difficulty setting until the credits.
There is no New Game Plus and the game uses one autosave slot. Chapter Replay displays completed chapters, but it should be treated as cleanup rather than a substitute for the continuous Hard campaign.
How to Get Salvatore's Apprentice
Salvatore's Apprentice is the one true missable in the base platinum route. It asks you to crack a safe before Enzo learns its combination.
Use this method in Chapter 3, during the citrus farm section of Pizzu:
- Continue until the objective sends you into the back room to collect the payment.
- Do not pick up or read the safe-combination notes in the room.
- Interact with the safe and enter
10-20-30directly. - Open the safe and wait for the trophy notification before moving on.
Combination notes remain recorded once collected. If you read every relevant note, a later Chapter Replay can still treat Enzo as knowing the code, which prevents the trophy condition from registering. A new-game run can recover the trophy, but taking it in Chapter 3 avoids that extra cleanup.
How Chapter Replay and Free Ride Work
Free Ride becomes available after Chapter 2 and provides unrestricted access to Valle Dorata. It is the main cleanup mode for cars, jumps, money spending, and most collectibles. Chapter Replay covers story-only areas and chapter-specific trophy conditions.
Shared progress includes money, purchased items, collectible totals, and cumulative combat kills. Checkpoint restarts are therefore useful for farming. Do not adjust difficulty during the Hard campaign just to simplify a replay. Finish True Soldato first, then lower the setting for cleanup.
Only Salvatore's Apprentice needs special planning. Stealth trophies, timed driving trophies, chapter choices, and all 143 collectibles remain recoverable through replay.

Missable Trophies in Mafia: The Old Country
There is one true missable trophy: Salvatore's Apprentice. Enter 10-20-30 at the Chapter 3 citrus farm safe without reading the combination notes. Taking every safe-code note can make the condition unavailable through Chapter Replay.
The other chapter-specific trophies are only missable within their first appearance. You can replay the relevant chapter for Fantasma, Garden Rendezvous, Man of Honor, The Old Ways, Trail of Destruction, Silent Hunter, Not So Fast, and Worthy Opponent.
All collectible progress is recoverable. The 25 story-exclusive items can be collected through Chapter Replay, while the rest are available in Free Ride.
Collectibles Overview
The Collector requires 143 items across four categories:
| Collectible | Required | Key detail |
|---|---|---|
| Mystery Foxes | 50 | Hidden until collected and best tracked with a checklist |
| Newspapers | 50 | Usually marked when you approach them |
| Photographs | 23 | Split between story chapters and Free Ride |
| Saints' Cards | 20 | Split between story chapters and Free Ride |
You also need one Trinacria Coin for Bona Furtuna and one Charm for Protected, but neither belongs to the 143-item collection required by The Collector. Notes and most other journal entries are not needed.
The Cyberpunk 2077 trophy guide has more decision-based cleanup. Mafia: The Old Country instead makes location tracking the main concern, with only the Chapter 3 safe creating a permanent risk.
Mystery Foxes glow gold but are not pre-marked on the map. One fox costs 5,000 Dinari at Pasquale's store. An older bug could consume that purchase without registering when the player had insufficient money. The September 2025 patch addressed that issue, though holding the full 5,000 before interacting remains the cleanest approach.
General Tips for the Platinum
Hard Mode and Stealth
Stay behind cover and prioritize headshots. The Pump-Action Shotgun is effective at close range, while the Praecisione can remove dangerous enemies in one shot. Health partially regenerates after a brief pause, so retreat rather than forcing a low-health exchange.
For Fantasma, The Old Ways, and Silent Hunter, detection is the only failure condition. Quiet takedowns are allowed. Restart the checkpoint immediately if an alert begins, since the game preserves no useful progress from a failed stealth attempt.
Combat Trophy Farming
Use Chapter 11 for the Praecisione, Lupara, Pump-Action, Vendetti, Modello, and Repeater trophies. Kills remain counted after checkpoint restart. Rotate weapons rather than finishing 20 kills with the same gun several chapters earlier than necessary.
Secret Assassin needs one-hit stealth knife takedowns, not normal knife slashes. Live by the Blade has a misleading description. Perform five Scannaturi knife throws and five Rasolu combat takedowns. Stiletto knives have no special action and are not required.
Money and Vehicle Cleanup
The Chapter 7 chest loop is the quickest predictable money farm. Build toward 17,000 Dinari before buying the full cleanup set. The seven required cars cost 11,000, the Pasquale fox costs 5,000, and the spray option for Driving in Style costs 1,000.
Use the Carozella Mark 2 from Chapter 7 for Getaway Driver and Daredevil. For Good as New, shoot the engine of one of your cars until it catches fire, then move to the front and use the crank.
The Red Dead Redemption 2 trophy guide has a much larger open-world commitment. Mafia: The Old Country is faster because combat kills, money, and vehicles can all be finished through repeatable checkpoints and Free Ride.
Hardest Trophies and How to Get Them
True Soldato
Start on Hard and do not change the setting. Use cover, loot every combat area, and save strong weapons for armored or aggressive enemies. A full run takes about 10-12 hours, and the remaining platinum time comes from collectibles and cleanup.
The trophy should unlock with The Old Country after Chapter 14. The original difficulty-toggle tracking issue was patched, but a clean Hard run remains safer than testing how the game records partial chapter completion.
Worthy Opponent
Only the Chapter 14 knife fight counts for the no-damage condition. Earlier gunfire in the sequence does not invalidate the trophy. Use quick stabs, dodge backward when Don Torrisi attacks, and use repeated guard breaks when he blocks.
The fight has checkpoints between phases. If you take damage, restart the current checkpoint rather than replaying the full chapter.
The Collector
Follow a chapter-by-chapter checklist for the 25 story-only items, then clear Free Ride by region. Check the Collection menu after each session and leave Mystery Foxes until last only if your checklist is reliable.
The trophy requires all four categories, including the 50 foxes. Completing the visible Collection menu without every Mystery Fox is not enough.
Free Ride Trophy Pack
The Free Ride update added five trophies, bringing the current PS5 list to 56 trophies: 42 Bronze, 11 Silver, 2 Gold, and 1 Platinum. These trophies are not required for The Don.
| Trophy | Tier | How to unlock |
|---|---|---|
| Classico | Silver | Complete the full story on Classic difficulty. Plan this as an additional campaign after the base platinum. |
| Firestarter | Bronze | Complete the Playing with Fire challenge. |
| Speed Demon | Bronze | Earn at least one medal in all 15 Free Ride races. |
| Seasoned Hunter | Bronze | Earn at least one medal in all five Standoff challenges. |
| Deadly Assassin | Bronze | Earn at least one medal in all four Assassination challenges. |
Classic is stricter than Hard, with deadlier enemies, limited health regeneration, less interface assistance, and ammunition lost when reloading early. The four challenge trophies can be cleaned up in Free Ride after the story unlocks every starting event.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many trophies are in Mafia: The Old Country?
The base game has 51 trophies: 38 Bronze, 10 Silver, 2 Gold, and 1 Platinum. The separate Free Ride pack raises the current PS5 total to 56.
Is the Mafia: The Old Country platinum hard?
It is about 4/10. Hard mode is forgiving by series standards, and the main risks are the Chapter 3 safe and collectible tracking.
How long does the platinum take?
Expect about 15-20 hours for the base platinum. The Free Ride pack adds a Classic campaign and extra challenges for players pursuing 100 percent.
Do you have to play Mafia: The Old Country on Hard?
Yes. True Soldato requires the entire Prologue and all 14 chapters on Hard. A final-chapter replay does not satisfy it.
Are there missable trophies in Mafia: The Old Country?
Yes. Salvatore's Apprentice is the only true missable. Everything else can be recovered through Chapter Replay or Free Ride.
How many playthroughs are needed for the platinum?
One playthrough is enough when you start on Hard. A separate Classic run is needed only for the Free Ride pack's Classico trophy.
Is Mafia: The Old Country on PS4?
No. The game and its trophy list are available on PS5, with no PS4 version or cross-generation autopop.
Is the Free Ride trophy pack required for the platinum?
No. The Don only requires the 50 other trophies in the base-game list.
A clean Hard run, the Chapter 3 safe, and a structured collectible checklist remove most of the platinum's uncertainty. DamnModz's Mafia: The Old Country services cover game-specific platinum and save-completion options.
