Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Trophy Guide and Platinum Walkthrough

This Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 trophy guide maps out a 50-70 hour, one-playthrough Platinum that sits around 3/10 on Story difficulty.

Most trophies remain available after the credits. The main risks are the Prologue Mime, Maelle's final relationship answer, an optional camp record, and completing White Nevron requests before attacking their quest givers.

Efficient route

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Trophy Guide Roadmap

1

Phase 1: Secure the Prologue trophies

Before agreeing to continue to the harbour, explore the right side of Lumière's Main Street and defeat the Mime near the dancers. This is the only enemy that unlocks A Peculiar Encounter.

Charge Gustave's Overcharge to 10 during the fight and use it to Break the Mime. That setup can also unlock Overcharge and Time to Spill Some Ink before the Expedition begins.

During the festival section, trade a token for the Old Key at the third stall on the left. Patch 1.5.0 added another copy in the final area, so missing it is no longer a permanent journal lockout on an updated game. Taking it here still makes the route cleaner.

2

Phase 2: Play Acts 1 and 2 while handling side content

Progress normally and complete White Nevron requests as you find them. Exhaust each Nevron's dialogue after delivering its item or finishing its task so the quest registers for Aiding the Enemy. Do not attack a quest Nevron before receiving its completion reward.

At camp, use Check up on the others whenever the option appears. After defeating the first Axon, watch the Verso and Maelle piano scene to secure the optional record tied to Connoisseur.

Leave the Chromatic Lancelier in Spring Meadows alive. Returning after you are overlevelled gives you a controlled target for Professional. Once Monoco joins, keep him in the active party for regular exploration so eligible enemies contribute their skills to Feet Collection.

3

Phase 3: Finish Act 3 and every relationship

Act 3 opens Esquie's flying ability and makes almost every side area accessible. Raise Sciel, Monoco, Maelle, Lune, and Esquie to relationship level 7 at camp.

Maelle's final conversation is the key exception to the game's forgiving relationship system. Choose the answer marked Truth. Choosing Lie prevents the level 7 increase on that save.

Esquie's relationship path also unlocks the final traversal ability needed for Plane, Train, and Submarine. You can finish the story before the full cleanup. Reloading the completed save returns you to the final Expedition Flag with the world still open.

4

Phase 4: Complete collectibles and side areas

Collect all 49 journals, 33 music records, 9 Lost Gestrals, 44 Monoco skills, and the rewards from all 10 Nevron quests. Win the 5 Gestral Games and complete all three Painting Workshop routes.

Finish Flying Manor, Endless Tower, and the remaining flight-only locations while your party is levelling. Complete these collections on the current save before starting New Game Plus because many trophy-related collectibles reset there.

5

Phase 5: Defeat the superbosses and finish cleanup

Defeat Sprong, Serpenphare, Chromatic Pétank, Clea, and Simon. Clear all 33 Endless Tower fights, fully upgrade one weapon to level 33, and perform any remaining character mechanic trophies.

Most players finish the side content around level 90. Grind one character to level 99 only after every other trophy is complete. Save Simon for last if your build still needs more levels, Lumina points, or Perfect Chroma Catalysts.

Guide notes

Does Difficulty Affect Trophies or New Game Plus?

No trophy requires a particular difficulty. Story mode lowers incoming damage and gives you more forgiving dodge, parry, and attack timing, while accessibility options remain trophy-safe.

New Game Plus is optional. It carries over party levels and upgrades, but it resets many journals, records, quest states, and other trophy collections. Finish the Platinum on your first save unless you need a short second Prologue for the Mime or another run for a missed Maelle choice.

The Persona 5 trophy guide is calendar-driven, while Expedition 33 lets you leave almost all exploration and combat cleanup until after the story.

RelationshipsLevel 7 with 5 alliesSciel, Monoco, Maelle, Lune, EsquieReturn to camp after major story beats and complete every available conversation
Painting Workshop3 routesNoir et BlancEnter through all three access points, place each item at the statue, then defeat the final Lampmaster

There is no useful region-by-region collectible counter, so consistency matters more than rushing. I recommend clearing a side area fully once you enter it, then checking journals, records, and Monoco's skill grid before moving on.

Best Build and General Tips for the Platinum

Build priorities

After defeating the Paintress, master Painted Power and equip its Lumina on your main damage dealer. It removes the 9,999 damage cap and makes the optional bosses much more manageable.

A reliable trophy build uses one burst damage dealer, one support character, and one Break or setup specialist. Maelle is a strong carry because Virtuose Stance and her level 3 Gradient attack can delete large portions of a boss's health. Exact weapon balance can change between patches, so prioritise effects that provide AP, extra turns, First Strike, Mark, and damage multipliers.

Sprong rewards Cheater, which gives a character two consecutive turns. Pair it with First Strike and Painted Power for fast boss clears, easy farming, and a much safer Professional attempt.

Combat and tracking tips

Dodge long strings until you know their rhythm. Parries are more rewarding, but a safe dodge is better than losing a superboss attempt while learning a late hit.

Master useful Pictos as you travel so their effects become equippable Lumina. Keep a reserve party reasonably levelled for Simon, who can force the backup team into the battle.

Finish optional bosses and Endless Tower before grinding level 99. Their experience, upgrade materials, and Lumina rewards shorten the final grind naturally.

The Black Myth: Wukong trophy guide has more route-sensitive collection work, while Expedition 33 concentrates most risk in a few conversations and early encounters.

Guide notes

Missable Trophies in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Current patches leave four trophies that can still be missed in a practical Platinum run. Two are direct location or dialogue lockouts, while two depend on an optional record source or quest order.

A Peculiar Encounter

The required Mime appears during the first Prologue section in Lumière. Walk to the far end of Main Street and look to the right near the dancers before accepting the dialogue that moves you to the harbour.

Other Mimes do not count. Missing this one requires New Game Plus or a fresh save, but a focused new run reaches the fight quickly.

Maelle

Raise Maelle to relationship level 6, then begin her final camp interaction in Act 3. Choose the answer marked Truth. The Lie option ends the interaction without level 7 or Maelle's final Gradient attack.

The game uses rotating autosaves rather than manual saves. Check that a recent autosave exists before starting the conversation so you can reload immediately after a wrong choice.

Connoisseur

The safest route is to defeat the Prologue Mime and watch the optional piano scene after the first Axon. At camp, select Check up on the others until the Verso and Maelle scene plays.

A duplicate of the Mime record exists later, so either early source can cover the other. Missing both can leave the save short of the 33 records needed for the trophy.

Follow The Trail is no longer missable

Launch versions made Follow The Trail missable because the Old Key was available only during the Prologue. Patch 1.5.0 added the key to the final area, creating a second chance within the same playthrough.

You should still take the festival copy because it removes uncertainty and lets you collect the Old Lumière journal when you first reach it.

Aiding the Enemy

Complete each White Nevron's request and exhaust its reward dialogue before choosing any hostile option. Killing a unique quest Nevron before its request is finished blocks that quest on the current playthrough.

The safest route is to spare every quest giver until you have met Blanche at The Fountain and the trophy has unlocked. You can decide whether to fight them after that point without risking the Platinum.

Guide notes

Postgame, New Game Plus, and Update Trophy Notes

Reloading the save after the ending places you at the final Expedition Flag. The Continent, main areas, side areas, most relationships, collectibles, and optional bosses remain available.

New Game Plus begins from an Expedition Flag and is not part of the optimal Platinum route. Levels and major upgrades carry over, but many trophy collections reset. Starting it early can turn a small cleanup into another full collection run.

The free content updates do not add a separate trophy pack. The Platinum still uses the original 56-trophy list, although later patches add encounters and quality-of-life changes that can affect the best farming and cleanup routes.

The Yakuza: Like a Dragon trophy guide is longer and grindier overall, while Expedition 33's final grind is mainly level 99 and collection cleanup.

Guide notes

Glitched Trophy Notes

There is no consistent Platinum-blocking trophy issue on current patches. Earlier versions had collectible and unlock problems, so install the latest game update before beginning final cleanup.

Aiding the Enemy may not register until every White Nevron request has been closed through its final reward dialogue. Revisit each surviving quest giver and speak until dialogue repeats before assuming the trophy is blocked.

Connoisseur can unlock before you own 33 unique records because duplicate pickups may count toward the trophy total. An early unlock is harmless. If it does not unlock, compare the record menu against all required entries on the same save and recheck the optional camp scene.

Current patches also provide respawning opportunities for Monoco's previously troublesome enemy skills. Feet Collection should remain obtainable during postgame cleanup as long as Monoco is active when the relevant enemy is defeated.

Focus these first

Hardest Trophies and How to Get Them

01

Peace At Last

Simon is the hardest required opponent and should be one of your final tasks. Reach roughly level 90-99, fully upgrade your main weapons, master Painted Power, and equip reliable AP generation, First Strike, revive, and extra-turn effects.

Simon can steal shields, set a character to 1 HP, remove defeated party members, and force your reserve team into the fight. Keep at least two backup characters functional rather than putting every resource into the opening trio.

In the later phase, hold a level 3 Gradient attack until Simon is just above half health. Mark or debuff him, enter your carry's strongest state, then use the burst to skip as much of the final sequence as possible. Dodge unfamiliar strings and parry only the patterns you can read consistently.

02

Clea

Clea waits at the end of Flying Manor and heals when her summoned attacks hit you. Void damage is effective, and Maelle's high-burst setup can shorten the fight before the healing becomes a problem.

Her rapid summons are easier to dodge than parry on a first attempt. Focus on clean defence, then spend Gradient charge and burst damage after a safe opening.

03

“Endless”

Endless Tower contains 11 stages with 3 fights each. Start it during cleanup rather than leaving all 33 encounters for the end because the tower gives useful experience and covers many enemies needed for Monoco's skills.

The last stage combines several dangerous enemies in each trial. Remove support or control enemies first, Break shared targets when possible, and save your strongest Gradient attack for the final Painted Love fight.

04

Professional

Professional looks skill-heavy, but the safest method is an overlevelled cleanup fight. Leave Chromatic Lancelier alive in Spring Meadows, switch to Story difficulty, equip First Strike and Cheater, then defeat it before it can deal damage.

Reload immediately if the enemy lands a hit. The trophy checks the completed fight, so there is no penalty for retrying. If every early Chromatic boss is already defeated, the respawning Clair Obscur near the Tower Peak flag in the Monolith provides another valid target on current versions.

05

Survivor

Most full-cleanup runs end near level 90. A fast final farm is the Gestral Merchant encounter near the Golden Tree Expedition Flag in Renoir's Drafts. A burst setup that clears the merchant and its companions in one opening sequence keeps each repeat short.

Quick answers

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to Platinum Clair Obscur: Expedition 33?

Expect 50-70 hours for one story playthrough, all collections, the optional bosses, and the level 99 grind.

How hard is the Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Platinum?

It is around 3/10 on Story difficulty. Simon and Clea are the main combat checks, but strong endgame builds can reduce both significantly.

Are there missable trophies in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33?

Yes. Four are potentially missable on current patches, with A Peculiar Encounter and Maelle being the two direct lockouts you should prioritise.

Does difficulty affect trophies in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33?

No. You can earn every trophy on Story difficulty and use accessibility options.

How many playthroughs are required for the Platinum?

One playthrough is enough. New Game Plus is needed only for a missed Prologue Mime, a failed Maelle choice, or a voluntary second run.

Can you clean up trophies after the ending?

Yes. Reload the completed save to return to the final Expedition Flag with the world and side content still open.

Is New Game Plus required?

No. It is usually less efficient because many trophy-related collectibles reset when New Game Plus begins.

What is the hardest trophy in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33?

Peace At Last is the hardest because Simon has multiple phases, punishing attack strings, and mechanics that can remove party members from the fight.

Does the free update content add trophies?

No separate update trophy pack is required. The base Platinum still consists of 56 trophies.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a manageable Platinum when the early safeguards are handled and all cleanup stays on one save. DamnModz PlayStation trophy services cover targeted cleanup or a full PS5 Platinum when you do not want to finish the remaining grind.
