Follow these phases in order to protect the missable work and keep the Doom Platinum cleanup efficient.
Phase 0: Set up your save backups
Before playing, decide on a backup routine. The progression trophies in this game are widely reported as glitching, and the only documented recovery is deleting all saves and starting over.
Back up to USB from the PS4 options menu, or use rest mode to trigger a cloud upload and confirm both the campaign save and the profile save appear under Uploads in notifications.
Back up before completing each mission and before any major progression milestone. This is the difference between a lost trophy and a lost platinum.
Phase 1: Campaign on any difficulty
Play the campaign on whatever difficulty you like, Hurt Me Plenty is a reasonable middle. Only one mission later needs Ultra-Nightmare.
Collect as you go, 79 Secrets, 26 Collectibles, 49 Data Logs, 36 Elite Guards, 12 Argent Cells, 12 Field Drones and 12 Rune Trials.
Track Elite Guards per mission. Overclocked is officially not missable but players report otherwise, and per-mission tracking removes the risk either way.
Fully upgrade health, armour and ammo capacity, and all Praetor Suit categories, within this single campaign run. Both trophies specify one run.
Glory kill every common enemy type as you meet them. Enemies drop health and ammo this way, so it is free progress.
Phase 2: Mission select cleanup
Nothing is missable. Use mission select to finish collectibles, challenges, runes and combat trophies.
Complete all challenges for a single mission for that trophy rather than attempting every mission's challenges.
If a progression trophy did not unlock, reload a backup save and redo that milestone before assuming it needs a full restart.
Phase 3: Ultra-Nightmare, one mission only
Complete the campaign first, or Ultra-Nightmare will not appear as an option.
On a new slot choose Start Campaign, then select Ultra-Nightmare. Choosing Settings on a new slot only shows the three lower difficulties, which is the menu trap that stalls people.
Only The UAC, the first mission, is required. There is no all-missions Ultra-Nightmare trophy.
Ultra-Nightmare has no checkpoints and death restarts the whole game, so play it patiently. Bait enemies one at a time, use the pistol charge shot, melee small enemies for health, and buy Explosive Shot at the field drone.
Phase 4: The four online trophies
Complete three or four matches and win at least one. Historically this took under an hour.
Verify the current player population first. A 2021 report says nobody is online, which would make boosting or a gaming session necessary despite older guides saying otherwise.
If population is thin, point readers at PSNProfiles gaming sessions rather than telling them it is quick.

Back Up Your Saves Before You Start
Placed above the roadmap. Most progression-related trophies have been reported as glitched, the cause is unconfirmed and possibly linked to the Arcade Mode update or SnapMap, and the only documented fix is deleting every save including the profile save.

How to Actually Unlock Ultra-Nightmare
You must complete the campaign first. Then, on a new slot, choose Start Campaign and pick Ultra-Nightmare. If you go into a new slot and choose Settings instead, only the three lower difficulties appear. This is a menu quirk that has sent players in circles and it exists only in guide comments.

Doom Missable, Glitched, and Difficulty Notes
- Officially zero missable trophies. Mission select lets you return to any mission for collectibles and combat trophies.
- Overclocked is disputed. The guide lists it as not missable, but a commenter argues it can be missed if you are not tracking Elite Guards. Track them per mission and the question is moot.
- The real hazard is glitched trophies rather than missable ones. Most progression-related trophies have been reported as failing to unlock across PS4, Xbox and Steam.
- The cause is unconfirmed. The Arcade Mode update and SnapMap or multiplayer have both been suggested and neither has been proven.
- The only documented fix for a glitched trophy is deleting all saves for the game, including the profile save, and starting from scratch. Backups are therefore the whole strategy.
- Difficulty does affect trophies. A Toe into Madness requires The UAC completed on Ultra-Nightmare, which has no checkpoints and restarts the whole game on death.
- Ultra-Nightmare only appears after completing the campaign, and only when starting a new slot via Start Campaign rather than Settings.
- Two trophies require single-run completion, fully upgrading health, armour and ammo capacity, and all Praetor Suit categories.
