Heavy Rain Trophy Guide and Platinum Roadmap
Follow these phases in order to protect the missable work and keep the Heavy Rain Platinum cleanup efficient.
Phase 1: First full playthrough, targeting Perfect Crime
Set the difficulty to easiest. No trophy is affected by it and the QTE sequences get much simpler.
Target the Perfect Crime ending set. It is highly missable and requires specific decisions from the opening chapters, so follow the route closely.
Pick up as many chapter-specific trophies as you can while doing it. Trophies pop on the between-chapter loading screens, so you do not need to finish a chapter for one to fire.
If you fail something needed for a silver or gold, replay that chapter immediately with save on rather than pressing on.
Quit to the main menu before the credits start, since skipping them otherwise means restarting the whole game.
Phase 2: The remaining ending sets, in order
Work through the remaining ending sets in sequence. Do not change the order, or you risk missing one and needing extra runs.
Use chapter select to jump back, then play through to the end so the changes register in your endings.
Remember there is only one save slot and a permanent timeline, so each saved change carries forward.
This is roughly seven partial playthroughs, which is the efficient route rather than seven full ones.
Phase 3: Chapter-specific cleanup
Most remaining trophies were either avoided to secure Perfect Crime or were the opposite of a choice you made.
Drop into individual chapters to take them quickly. This phase is short if you tracked them during Phase 1.
Work the 12 named trophies from the watch list, since each needs a specific in-chapter action.
Phase 4: All Endings and the platinum
With every epilogue saved, All Endings should unlock.
If it does not fire, replay any chapter and it should unlock during the loading screen. This is a documented workaround for a reported pop failure.
Confirm the epilogue count against the live list, since sources give both 17 and 18.
Guide notes
Do the Ending Sets in Order
First section after the Quick Info box. All Endings requires every epilogue, and the ending sets must be completed in sequence. Changing the order can cause you to miss one and need additional playthroughs. Start with the Perfect Crime set, then work forward. This single instruction is the difference between eight runs and twelve.
Guide notes
How the Save System Works
Heavy Rain allows only one save at a time and maintains a permanent timeline of your choices. Jumping into an early chapter, changing the plot and saving affects every chapter after it, which is how you change endings. You cannot make a permanent mistake, since you can replay and save any scene as often as you like.
Guide notes
Play on the Easiest Difficulty
No trophy is affected by difficulty, and the setting only changes how complex the QTE sequences are. For a list built on perfect button-press sequences, the easiest setting is simply the correct choice.
Guide notes
The Optimal Route, One Full Run Plus Seven Partials
The first full playthrough targets Perfect Crime, which is highly missable and needs specific decisions from the very start, and picks up many chapter-specific trophies along the way. Seven partial runs then cover the remaining ending sets.
Efficient route
When All Endings Does Not Pop
Players report watching every epilogue with save on and the trophy failing to fire. The documented workaround is that once all endings are saved, replaying any chapter will unlock it during the loading screen. Include this, because it is a gold trophy failing after hours of work.
Trophies Pop on Loading Screens
Trophies only unlock during the between-chapter loading screens, when you see a character's face against a black background. You do not need to finish a chapter, and a delay is normal rather than a bug.
Skipping the Credits
Once the credits start you have to quit and restart the whole game to skip them, so quit to the main menu before they begin. A small thing that saves real time across eight runs.
Efficient route
The 12 Named Trophies to Watch
Wise Guy, Pride Saved, Sacrifice, Clever Dad, Cold as Ice, Simple Mind, So Close, Four Heroes, Trial Master, Nerd, Saved the Kid and Perfect Crime. Chapter select means none are permanently lost, but each needs a specific in-chapter action. If you fail one, replay that chapter immediately with save on.
Not Beyond: Two Souls or Detroit
Cross-link our Detroit: Become Human brief and Beyond: Two Souls when built. All three are Quantic Dream choice-driven lists with flowcharts and the audience overlaps almost completely.

Guide notes
Heavy Rain Missable, Glitched, and Difficulty Notes
- Sources conflict. PlayStationTrophies says there are no missables because chapter select recovers everything, while FuzionByte names 12 that require specific in-chapter actions.
- The practical answer is that nothing is permanently lost, but 12 trophies need a deliberate action in a specific chapter, so replay immediately if you fail one.
- Perfect Crime is the highest risk, since it requires specific decisions from the opening chapters rather than a single action.
- All Endings is order-dependent. Completing the ending sets out of sequence can cause you to miss one and need extra playthroughs.
- All Endings has been reported as failing to pop even with every epilogue seen. The workaround is to replay any chapter once all endings are saved, and it unlocks on the loading screen.
- Difficulty does not affect trophies at all, so the easiest setting is the correct choice for the QTE sequences.
- There is only one save slot and a permanent timeline, so replaying a chapter and saving changes every chapter after it.
- Trophies unlock only during between-chapter loading screens, so a delay is normal rather than a bug.
- PS3 and PS4 have separate lists that stack.
Quick answers
Frequently Asked Questions
How many playthroughs does the Heavy Rain platinum need?
One full playthrough plus around seven partial ones, following an optimised order. Chapter select means the partials are short rather than full replays.
Does difficulty affect trophies in Heavy Rain?
No, not at all. The setting only changes how complex the QTE sequences are, so the easiest difficulty is the correct choice for a trophy run.
Do the Heavy Rain ending sets have to be done in order?
Yes. All Endings requires every epilogue, and completing the sets out of sequence can cause you to miss one and need additional playthroughs. Start with the Perfect Crime set.
Why hasn't my Heavy Rain trophy popped?
Trophies only unlock during the between-chapter loading screens, when you see a character's face on a black background. You do not need to finish a chapter, and a delay is normal.
What if the All Endings trophy does not unlock?
This has been reported even with every epilogue seen. Once all endings are saved, replay any chapter and it should unlock during the loading screen.
How does saving work in Heavy Rain?
There is one save slot and a permanent timeline of your choices. Replaying an early chapter and saving changes everything after it, which is how you reach different endings. You cannot permanently ruin a run.
Are there missable trophies in Heavy Rain?
Guides disagree. Nothing is permanently lost thanks to chapter select, but 12 trophies need a specific action in a specific chapter, so replay immediately if you miss one.
Does Heavy Rain have separate PS3 and PS4 trophy lists?
Yes, they are separate lists, so both platinums are available.
DamnModz supports PlayStation games with Platinum trophies. Choose the game and tell us what remains on your list.
