The Forest Trophy Guide and Platinum Roadmap
Follow these phases in order to protect the missable work and keep the The Forest Platinum cleanup efficient.
Phase 0: Two rules before you start
The game never autosaves. Save manually and often, especially before entering caves, which have been reported to crash the game.
Understand that creative mode is the whole plan. It unlocks after beating the game once and takes this platinum from 6 out of 10 at 80 hours down to 3 out of 10 at 20.
Kill geese well away from water, since a body in water sinks out of reach and a goose killed near water gives you the drink prompt instead of the skin prompt.
Expect 2 playthroughs minimum and 4 recommended.
Phase 1: First playthrough, then unlock creative mode
Play the story on any difficulty. Peaceful removes enemies while keeping hunger, thirst and cold, which is a good middle option.
The game can be finished in one in-game day, so a fast completion to unlock creative mode is a legitimate opening move.
Explore all caves, collect the cassette tapes and other collectables, and craft the items you need while you are here.
Look out for the late game trophies Big Spender, Daily Grind and Gross, and if you are playing single player watch for Make It Rain.
Phase 2: Creative mode for the bulk of the list
Start a new game in creative mode. No enemies, no hunger, thirst or cold, and unlimited building material.
Do the second playthrough without killing or eating any animals here, since you cannot die in creative mode.
Handle the single session group in one sitting, Choppy Chop, Green Thumb, Major Cannibalism, Neuropath, Don't Save The Forest and You are a fun guy.
For You are a fun guy, craft a pouch from two rabbit skins, collect all six mushroom types with it and eat them one after another. All but Liberty Cap are in the northwest.
Don't Save The Forest needs 1000 trees felled and is the rarest trophy at 0.6 percent.
Phase 3: The Bad Father idle
100 in-game days at roughly 24 to 36 minutes each, which is 40 to 50 hours of real time.
In creative mode you can simply stand still and leave the console on until you reach the count.
Check the STATS screen for your real day count rather than the in-game display, since the two can differ by several days.
Sleeping at a shelter also passes time if you would rather play actively.
This is the single longest requirement on the list. One soft mention of DamnModz fits here.
Phase 4: The five online trophies
All five need another player, and co-op supports up to four.
The group sleep trophy cannot be done immediately after starting a new game, so wait until evening.
If Splatter fails in co-op, one player reported earning it in single player instead, so try that rather than assuming it is broken.
Make It Rain must be done in a single player game in the late game, so plan a single player session for it if your other runs were co-op.
Check the current status of Spelunker and All Passengers before committing, since both have been reported failing.
Guide notes
Creative Mode Halves This Platinum
First section after the Quick Info box. With creative mode this is a 3 out of 10 at 20 to 30 hours. Without it, 6 out of 10 at 50 to 80. Creative mode unlocks after beating the game once and removes enemies, hunger, thirst and cold entirely, with unlimited building material though not unlimited crafting material. That means the correct plan is to finish the game once as quickly as possible, then do almost everything else in creative mode.
Guide notes
The Game Never Autosaves
Not once, at any point. You must save manually and regularly. Compounding that, the game has been reported to crash when entering caves, which is exactly where you spend a lot of trophy time.
Guide notes
The Bad Father and the Stats Screen
100 in-game days, which is roughly 40 to 50 hours of real time at 24 to 36 minutes per in-game day. The good news is that it can be idled, and in creative mode you can simply stand still and leave the console on. The essential detail, check the STATS screen for your actual day count rather than the in-game display. One player reached day 102 by the display while stats showed 98, so they had to wait two more days.

The Reported Bugs
Several trophies have been reported failing. Spelunker, with every cave crossed out and all items collected and no trophy. All Passengers, stuck at 42 of 43 because a porter's body would not register, reported by two players. Splatter, which failed in co-op for one player who then earned it in single player.
Trophy Hunter and the Goose Problem
Not a bug so much as a trap. Killing a goose over water sinks the body out of reach so you cannot cut off the head, and killing one near water replaces the skin prompt with the drink water prompt, making it inaccessible. Kill geese well away from water.
Efficient route
Do These in One Session
Choppy Chop, Green Thumb, Major Cannibalism, Neuropath, Don't Save The Forest and You are a fun guy are all safest done in a single session. Don't Save The Forest, cutting 1000 trees, is the rarest trophy on the list at 0.6 percent.
You Are a Fun Guy
Eat one of each of the six mushroom types in a single session. Craft a pouch from two rabbit skins, collect all six with it, then eat them one after another. The types are Amanita, Chanterelle, Deer, Jack, Liberty Cap and Puff, and all but Liberty Cap can be found in the northwest area.
Efficient route
The Five Online Trophies
All need another player. The group sleep trophy cannot be done immediately after starting a new game, since you must wait until evening. Note that co-op is 4 player and that one trophy, Make It Rain, must instead be done in a single player game in the late game, so if you did your first playthrough in co-op you should play single player for that.
Survive The Forest and the Alternative Ending
Community members argue this should be tagged missable if you choose the alternative ending. Flag it, since an ending choice affecting a trophy is worth knowing before the final decision.
Not Sons of the Forest, Heart of the Forest or The Forest Quartet
Three unrelated games share similar names, and Sons of the Forest is the actual sequel. Disambiguate clearly, since the keyword is ambiguous.

Quick answers
Frequently Asked Questions
Does creative mode disable trophies in The Forest?
No, and it is the key to this platinum. Creative mode takes it from 6 out of 10 at 50 to 80 hours down to 3 out of 10 at 20 to 30. It unlocks after you beat the game once.
Does The Forest autosave?
No, not at any point. You must save manually and regularly, which matters more than usual because the game has been reported to crash when entering caves.
How do you get The Bad Father trophy?
Survive 100 in-game days, roughly 40 to 50 hours of real time. It can be idled, and in creative mode you can simply leave the console running. Check the STATS screen for your real day count rather than the in-game display.
How long does it take to platinum The Forest?
20 to 30 hours using creative mode, or 50 to 80 without it. The Bad Father accounts for most of it either way, though it can be idled.
Are The Forest trophies glitched?
Several have been reported failing, including Spelunker, All Passengers and Splatter. Splatter failed in co-op for one player who then earned it in single player, so try that before assuming it is broken.
Why can't I get the goose head in The Forest?
A goose killed over water sinks out of reach, and one killed near water gives you the drink water prompt instead of the skin prompt. Kill geese well away from water.
How many online trophies does The Forest have?
Five, all requiring another player. Note that the group sleep trophy cannot be done immediately after starting a new game, since you must wait until evening.
Is The Forest the same as Sons of the Forest?
No. Sons of the Forest is the sequel, and Heart of the Forest and The Forest Quartet are unrelated games that share similar names.
