Monster Hunter Stories 2 Trophy Guide and Platinum Walkthrough

The trophy list has no difficulty-specific requirement and does not require New Game Plus. One completed save is enough, and all major cleanup remains available after the credits.

Combat follows the Power-Speed-Technical triangle: Power beats Technical, Technical beats Speed and Speed beats Power. Winning the Head-to-Head and targeting the same body part as your Monstie creates Double Attacks, which cancel an enemy's action and preserve Hearts. Learn each monster's normal pattern and how it changes while enraged instead of relying on raw level alone.

The Platinum is mechanically easier than the calendar and social-stat planning in the Persona 5 trophy guide, but it asks for considerably more repetitive collection work.

Monsterpedia, Monstipedia and Kinship Skills

Monsterpedia completion is based on defeated enemies, while Monstipedia completion is based on hatched Monsties. They are separate checks. A monster's low-rank and high-rank forms can occupy separate Monsterpedia entries, so defeating the story version does not always finish its postgame entry.

Use Monster Search when a remaining entry can appear in the field, and inspect every Monsterpedia tab. Barrel Felyne variants and basic high-rank small monsters are common final gaps because they are easy to overlook during normal travel.

For Monster Rider, hatch a required Monstie, place it in the active party and use its Kinship Skill at least once. Confirm that its gallery entry is filled before releasing or channeling it. The game contains additional + Monsties, but those add-on entries are not needed for the trophy.

Genes, Skill Scrolls and Recipes

A gene only enters the Book of Genes once it is visible on a Monstie. If a newly hatched Monstie has a locked gene, level it until the slot opens before releasing it or using it for channeling.

The final missing genes are often small or medium variants rather than XL variants. Check the exact blank entry, identify which Monsties and regions can produce that gene, then farm the appropriate Rare, High Rank Rare or Super Rare dens. A Finding Charm at the Prayer Pot improves the efficiency of repeated egg runs.

Skill Scrolls and recipes mainly come from settlement NPC Subquests. Melynx Inc. also supplies several recipe books in exchange for Bottle Caps. Revisit every settlement after the story because later quest chains and vendor stock can reveal items that were unavailable on the first visit.

Navirou Outfits and Catavan Stands

Most Navirou outfits are bought from Melynx Inc. as the story expands the shop. The final required outfit comes from Tsukino's hide-and-seek sequence, started while Kyle is your Battle Buddy. Once all 28 are owned, change Navirou's outfit at the Chest to trigger Trendsetter.

For Catavan Conqueror, activate each location as soon as its paw icon appears. The complete total is 50 and includes stands inside both versions of the Elder's Lair. Settlement Catavaners and Felyne Burrows count alongside ordinary umbrella stands, so interact with the attendant rather than assuming map discovery is enough.

Use the Book Menus as Your Checklists

Do not keep an external mental list of hundreds of entries. The Field Guides show exactly which monsters, Monsties and genes are missing, while the Gallery tracks viewed Kinship Skills. Work from one blank entry at a time.

Open the Key Items tab after finishing the Scroll and recipe collections. Equip an outfit after collecting every Navirou costume. Several trophies check the final collection only when you perform that follow-up action.

Keep a Rotation of Manual Saves

The trophy list has no confirmed permanent missables, but rotating manual saves is still sensible before major story bosses and long postgame sessions. It protects your progress from accidental overwrites and gives you a clean recovery point if a collection entry fails to register as expected.

Use Retreats to Target Specific Eggs

When a hatchable monster is available in the field, hit it with a Paintball near the end of battle and satisfy its retreat condition where practical. Entering its retreat den gives you a concentrated source of that species' eggs and genes. Save before collecting eggs when you are targeting a stubborn size variant.

Level Newly Hatched Monsties Passively

Locked genes do not count until their level requirement is met. Place fresh Monsties in Expedition Parties or bring them through easy high-rank battles so their full gene grids reveal quickly. Rotate them out once every slot is visible.

Prioritise Safe, Fast S Ranks

S Rank depends on battle score and speed. Revisit weak monsters after you are overlevelled, use Double Attacks and Kinship Skills, and finish battles in a few turns. Supreme Crest only needs 50 S Ranks and should unlock well before the final books are complete.

The turn-based planning is very different from the crown grind and real-time hunts in the Monster Hunter Wilds trophy guide. Here, organised tracking is more important than mechanical execution.

Monster Hunter Stories 2 has three trophies attached to multiplayer menus: Scroll of Power, Scroll of Unity and Scroll of Cooperation. None requires another player, a boosting partner or PlayStation Plus.

At the Quest Board, choose Local/Offline Play for the relevant Versus or Co-Op option. The game supplies an AI partner or opponent. Win one Single Battle, win one Pair Battle and complete one Co-Op Quest to finish all three requirements.

There are no permanently missable trophies on the PS4 list. The game returns you to the world after the story, and the required Subquests, dens, settlements, galleries and postgame areas remain available on the same save.

Entries marked with a + are add-on content bundled into later versions of the game and are excluded from the trophies that mention them. You do still need the base-game Deviants and other unmarked variants.

The main practical risk is deleting or channeling a Monstie before using its Kinship Skill or before its locked genes become visible. This does not permanently block anything because the egg can be obtained again, but it creates avoidable re-farming.
