Efficient route

Monster Hunter Stories Trophy Guide and Platinum Roadmap

1

Phase 1: Complete the Story and Track Early Collectibles

Play through the main story and build one dependable party rather than trying to perfect every Monstie immediately. Story progress unlocks the regions, high-rank content and post-game activities needed for the Platinum.

Collect every Poogie you notice, open red chests and prioritize Subquests offered by named NPCs. These are the main sources of recipe books, while Quest Board tasks are better used to raise the 100-Subquest counter.

You should also gather from item points, take one egg from each den, use Catavan travel and fish whenever a spot is convenient. These actions advance several low-effort cumulative trophies without a separate grind.

Do not stop for heavy leveling during the story. The Tower of Illusion gives far better experience after the credits.

2

Phase 2: Finish Subquests, Recipes and Regional Cleanup

After the story, revisit every settlement and complete unfinished NPC chains. Silver Medal needs 100 completed Subquests, and the five friendship trophies only unlock after their character's chain is finished and the named location is revisited.

Check your Key Items against the recipe books you already own. Combination Cookbook is easiest when you clear one settlement at a time, complete its NPC requests and search nearby red chests before moving on.

Finish all 100 Poogies during the same regional sweep. Keep a simple checklist by area because the game does not provide a clean missing-Poogie breakdown.

Fully restoring Albarax unlocks Beautiful Tree Branch and opens the Rider Arena. Clear any remaining normal monster entries while traveling between settlements.

3

Phase 3: Clear the Rider Arena and Post-Game Dungeons

Win the Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum Rider Arena tournaments in order. These are offline battles against NPC Riders, so no multiplayer partner is required.

Clear the Shadow Labyrinth for Secret Scroll of Adventurers. Its high-rank encounters also provide rare materials, strong eggs and chances at a rarity 8 accessory.

Work through all 50 floors of the Tower of Illusion for Secret Scroll of Bonds. Every 10th floor acts as a Catavan checkpoint, so you do not need to clear the full tower in one sitting. Floor 50 ends with Gold Rathian and Silver Rathalos together.

4

Phase 4: Finish Level, Battle, Money and RNG Grinds

Use the Tower of Illusion to raise one Monstie to Level 99 and finish any remaining progress toward 500 battle wins. Floors 5, 15, 25, 35 and 45 contain Barrel Felynes, which also count toward A Mewing (?) Barrel.

Farm high-rank dens or the Shadow Labyrinth for Accessory Royalty. Activate a Gathering Charm, check yellow crystal deposits and open every chest.

For Zenny-Pinching Pouch, you must hold 1,000,000z at once. Save first, sell unused materials and equipment, let the trophy unlock, then reload if you want the inventory back.

Finish Egg Cup, Ruby Crystal, Monstie Adventure Tales, Angler's Statue and any weapon crafting trophies that did not unlock naturally. Master Rider appears as soon as the other 50 trophies are complete.

Guide notes

Does Difficulty Affect Trophies in Monster Hunter Stories?

No trophy requires a particular difficulty, and New Game Plus is not needed. One completed save gives you permanent access to the post-game and every cleanup activity.

The combat system follows a simple attack triangle:

AttackBeats
PowerTechnical
TechnicalSpeed
SpeedPower

Watch the enemy's pattern rather than selecting attacks at random. Matching your Monstie's winning attack creates a Double Attack, prevents incoming damage from that target and fills Kinship faster.

Guide notes

Monster Hunter Stories Collectibles and Completion Tracking

All 100 Poogies

Encyclopoogia requires you to find and talk to all 100 lost Poogies. They appear in towns, fields, caves, dens and other interiors, so a casual story run rarely finds every one.

Collect visible Poogies immediately and record each area's total. During cleanup, search regions in story order and include indoor maps. Finding all 100 also awards the Great Poogie, but Great Poogie is not a monster you need to slay.

All Recipes

Combination Cookbook requires every recipe, not merely every item you have crafted. Most recipe books come from specific NPC Subquests rather than the Quest Board, and some chains only continue after earlier requests are complete.

Open every red chest and check the Key Items tab for recipe and lore books. If a recipe is missing, revisit NPCs in Hakum, Gildegaran, Oasum, Albarax, Geo-Fulkright, Koapni and the smaller cabins or outposts. Clearing unrelated local requests can also reveal the next quest in a chain.

Every Monsterpedia Kill

Monster Encyclopedia requires a recorded slay for every required monster. Discovering an entry or obtaining its egg is not enough.

The remaster's numbered list runs through #112, although the headline counter can show 108/108 before the late entries are handled. #109 Great Poogie is not a kill target, but these post-game monsters need recorded slays:

EntryMonsterReliable source
110White MonoblosOne-Horned Menace
111Molten TigrexEarth-Rending Roar
112Oroshi KirinSnowfield Phantom

Kushala Daora, Teostra and Fatalis also need kills. Their special Subquests provide a more controlled route than waiting for the correct Shadow Labyrinth boss. Green Konchu is another commonly missed entry and can be found on the large spider web in Babda Rainforest.

Open each Monsterpedia page during final cleanup and confirm that it records at least one slay. Do not rely only on the number in the top-right corner.

Subquests and Character Chains

Silver Medal needs 100 Subquests, but the game offers more than the required amount. Accept quests whenever you visit a settlement, then turn in overlapping objectives together.

The five friendship trophies need both the completed chain and a return visit:

TrophyReturn location
Friend of DebliKoapni Village
Friend of AviniaKoapni Village
Friend of RevertoReverto's house
Friend of SimoneThe Scriveners
Friend of The ChannelerDarj Mountain Cabins

Guide notes

Post-Game Dungeons and Fast Leveling

Shadow Labyrinth

The Shadow Labyrinth opens after the story and is entered through the Ruins of Redan near the Catavan Stand. It contains multiple high-rank areas, random encounters, eggs and valuable gathering points.

A party around Level 70 can begin making serious attempts, although stronger gear and a balanced stock of healing items make the last section safer. The first final boss is normally Teostra or Kushala Daora. Fatalis can appear on later clears after the Tower of Illusion is complete.

Secret Scroll of Adventurers unlocks after your first full clear regardless of which eligible final boss appears.

Tower of Illusion

The Tower of Illusion is a fixed 50-floor post-game dungeon reached by boat. Catavan checkpoints appear on floors 10, 20, 30 and 40, letting you resume from the latest block.

The final floor pairs Gold Rathian with Silver Rathalos. Bring high-level Monsties, strong armor, healing items and Heart-restoring items. Focus one monster down before splitting damage, and switch Monsties to keep winning Head-to-Heads rather than forcing one favorite into every matchup.

Level 99 and Barrel Felynes

Activate a Training Charm or Training Charm+ at the Prayer Pot before experience farming. Floor 5 of the Tower contains a guaranteed Barrel Felyne and is the easiest early loop. Floors 15, 25, 35 and 45 provide later alternatives as your team improves.

A Big Barrel Bomb is the safest opening because a Barrel Felyne can flee quickly. Repeating floors 1 through 5 also advances Victor's Crest while raising one chosen Monstie toward Level 99.

Guide notes

Rider Arena and Online Trophy Notes

The Rider Arena opens in Albarax after the village is fully restored. Complete its NPC tournaments in sequence because each higher cup unlocks after the previous one is won.

Arena battles use three Hearts and reward controlled play. Learn the opposing Monstie's attack tendency, use traps when its pattern is clear and heal before a lost Head-to-Head removes a Heart. The offline Rider Arena is more predictable than the late combat gauntlets in Yakuza: Like a Dragon, although the Platinum Cup still punishes a weak or one-dimensional party.

Network Battles are optional. None of the 51 trophies requires matchmaking, another player or an active online population.

Guide notes

Missable Trophies in Monster Hunter Stories

There are no permanently missable trophies. You can continue after the ending, revisit every region, complete remaining Subquests and access all major post-game activities on the same save.

Individual opportunities can still be missed in the moment. A Barrel Felyne may flee, a fishing attempt may fail and a Head-to-Head streak may break, but each can be attempted again.

Monster Encyclopedia is a tracking pitfall rather than a true missable. The displayed total can look complete before entries #110 through #112 have recorded kills, so inspect the numbered pages before assuming the trophy is broken.

Guide notes

General Tips for the Platinum

Combat and Party Tips

Build a party that covers Power, Technical and Speed tendencies. A versatile six-Monstie roster is more useful than six rare Monsties that all choose similar attacks.

Keep one strong Monstie in the active party throughout most of the game so its level remains ahead of the curve. You can use the other slots for field abilities, elemental coverage and later egg upgrades.

Double Attacks are safer than flashy skills in predictable fights. They cancel the targeted attack, protect both participants and raise Kinship, which leads to more frequent Kinship Skills.

Carry healing, Heart restoration and status recovery into the Tower, Labyrinth and Platinum Arena. Losing because the Battle Pouch lacks one basic recovery item wastes more time than gathering or buying replacements.

Efficient Cleanup Tips

A steady side-content routine also works well in Persona 5, but Monster Hunter Stories has no calendar deadlines. You can leave almost any unfinished task until after the credits.

Use one checklist for Poogies, recipe books, character chains and Monsterpedia kills. The game tracks each category in a different menu, which makes a single external checklist much easier than repeatedly revisiting every region.

Take an egg whenever you enter a den until Courier Master's Statue unlocks. Send full Expedition Parties and match the displayed Recommended Element to improve the chance of an Awesome result.

For Gambler's Shield, choose a durable monster with a predictable attack cycle. You need five consecutive Head-to-Head wins in one battle, not five wins across separate encounters.

For Angler's Statue, a Great result is marked by the strongest catch animation and red shine. Leave and re-enter the area when you need to refresh fishing points.

Focus these first

Hardest Trophies and How to Get Them

01

Secret Scroll of Bonds

This is the strongest combat check in the base list. The Tower has 50 fixed floors, and the last battle places Gold Rathian and Silver Rathalos on the field together.

Level your main party into the high range before the final block. Carry strong healing and Heart-restoring items, then focus attacks on one target until it falls. A two-enemy fight becomes much safer once only one attack pattern remains.

Use the floor 40 checkpoint rather than restarting the tower. If the final battle is overwhelming, repeat floors 41 through 45 for experience, Barrel Felyne progress and materials before trying again.

02

Combination Cookbook

The challenge is bookkeeping. Recipe books are spread across named NPC chains and red chests, and the game does not present one clean percentage for the trophy.

Complete every blue-marked NPC request you encounter, revisit settlements after major story events and inspect Key Items after each region. Quest Board volume helps Silver Medal, but it does not replace the character requests that award many recipes.

03

Monster Encyclopedia

Finish the Tower and Shadow Labyrinth before final Monsterpedia cleanup because both expose you to many high-rank entries. Then open each page and confirm a nonzero kill record.

Use special Subquests for White Monoblos, Molten Tigrex, Oroshi Kirin, Teostra, Kushala Daora and Fatalis. This removes spawn uncertainty and makes the last missing entry easier to identify.

04

Top Rider Prize and Accessory Royalty

Farm Tower floor 5 with a Training Charm until your chosen Monstie reaches Level 99. Move to floors 41 through 45 when your party can clear them quickly, since the higher block provides better overall experience and another guaranteed Barrel Felyne.

Accessory Royalty is the main RNG check. Use a Gathering Charm in high-rank dens and the Shadow Labyrinth, inspect yellow crystal deposits and open every chest. A Monstie with Roar can reduce time lost to unwanted field encounters.

Quick answers

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to Platinum Monster Hunter Stories?

Plan for around 60 hours. Thorough story exploration can shorten cleanup, while missing recipes or Monsterpedia kills can push the total higher.

How hard is the Monster Hunter Stories Platinum?

It is about 3/10. Most trophies are completion checks, with the Tower of Illusion and late Rider Arena cups providing the main combat challenge.

Are there missable trophies in Monster Hunter Stories?

No. All trophies can be completed after the story on one save.

Does Monster Hunter Stories have online trophies?

No. Network Battles are optional, and the Rider Arena trophies use offline NPC tournaments.

Does difficulty affect trophies in Monster Hunter Stories?

No trophy is tied to difficulty, and New Game Plus is unnecessary.

What is the hardest trophy in Monster Hunter Stories?

Secret Scroll of Bonds is the hardest combat trophy because it requires all 50 Tower of Illusion floors and the dual boss battle at the summit.

How many playthroughs are needed for the Platinum?

One playthrough is enough. Post-game free roam covers all remaining collectibles, Subquests, battles and dungeons.

How many trophies are in Monster Hunter Stories?

There are 51 trophies, with 38 Bronze, 10 Silver, 2 Gold and 1 Platinum.

Do you need all 100 Poogies?

Yes. Encyclopoogia unlocks only after you find and talk to all 100 lost Poogies.

Does 108/108 guarantee Monster Encyclopedia?

No. Check the numbered pages through #112 and confirm recorded kills for White Monoblos, Molten Tigrex and Oroshi Kirin. Great Poogie at #109 is not a kill target.

Is there a native PS5 trophy list?

No. Monster Hunter Stories uses a PS4 trophy list.

Monster Hunter Wilds returns the series to action combat and replaces this game's recipe and Poogie cleanup with a much longer hunt for crowns and repeated quest milestones.

DamnModz also lists PlayStation trophy services for single-game Platinum cleanup and broader profile goals.
