Follow these phases in order to protect the missable work and keep the Until Dawn Platinum cleanup efficient.
Phase 1: Confirm your version first
Check whether you are playing the 2015 PS4 game or the 2024 PS5 Remaster before you touch a collectible guide. The lists are separate and the Totem locations differ.
If you are on the Remaster, use Remaster collectible locations only. PS4 Totem routes will send you to empty rooms.
Neither version has difficulty trophies, so play on whatever setting you like.
Phase 2: Playthrough one, everyone survives
Target They All Live. Keeping all eight alive is the harder ending to steer, so do it while you are following a guide closely.
Do not shoot the squirrel at the shooting range in Episode 1. Doing so blocks Sam's escape in Episode 5 and costs you Mystery Man clues in Episode 7.
Do not interact with the device with the arm in Episode 5, or you will not have a usable machete in Episode 9.
Keep Jess and Matt alive. One Totem in Episode 10 is unreachable without them.
Do not hit, frighten or kill any wildlife at any point.
Collect all 36 Totems, 79 Clues and 10 Interactables in this run. Rotate each Totem until the light aligns, otherwise the omen cutscene does not trigger and it does not count.
Survive the Sanatorium in Chapter 9 without Mike being caught by a Wendigo.
Phase 3: Playthrough two, nobody survives
Target This Is THE End, where all eight die. This is the opposite of Phase 2 and cannot share a run with it.
Pick up the character-specific death and survival trophies you did not get first time.
Chapter select is available now, but if you jump into a chapter you must play through to the end of the game for your new choices to save. Skipping ahead resets them.
Phase 4: Chapter select cleanup
Use chapter select for any individual outcome trophies still outstanding, always playing through to the end.
Recheck the Totem count. Missed Totems are the most common reason a reader thinks the platinum is broken.
On the PS4 version this phase is much shorter, since that list has no missables and chapter select covers everything.

How Chapter Select Actually Works
It unlocks after one completion, but if you replay a chapter and then skip ahead rather than playing to the end, your new choices reset to the originals. This single mechanic is why people think trophies are lost when they are not, and it is badly explained everywhere.

Choice Traps That Break Collectibles
The dependency chains, in order. Do not shoot the squirrel in Episode 1 or Sam cannot escape in Episode 5 and you lose Mystery Man clues in Episode 7. Do not interact with the arm device in Episode 5 or you lose the usable machete in Episode 9. Jess and Matt must both survive to reach a Totem in Episode 10. Do not harm any wildlife.

Until Dawn Missable, Glitched, and Difficulty Notes
- On the PS5 Remaster, every trophy is missable except I Know What You Did Last Year, Our Host and The Cabin in the Blackwoods. That is the headline fact for this version.
- On the PS4 original there are no missable trophies at all, because chapter select covers everything on a 19 trophy list.
- All collectibles must be gathered before you leave the relevant chapter, and on the Remaster the Totem locations are different from the PS4 game.
- Totems only count once you rotate them until the light aligns and the omen cutscene plays. Simply picking one up is not enough on the Remaster.
- Choice chains break collectibles. The Episode 1 squirrel, the Episode 5 arm device, and letting Jess or Matt die each remove content you need later.
- No glitched trophies are widely reported on either list.
- Difficulty does not affect trophies on either version, and there are no online trophies.
- Chapter select is not a safety net on its own. Replaying a chapter and then skipping forward resets your new choices to the originals.
