Dark Souls III Platinum Roadmap
Phase 1: Complete NG, NPC Quests, and The Usurpation of Fire
Start as a Knight if you want the smoothest early game. Its armor, shield, and Longsword give you a dependable setup while you learn the faster combat rhythm. Raise Intelligence to 10 early so Orbeck of Vinheim agrees to move to Firelink Shrine.
Your first cycle should preserve the longest quest chains. Recruit Yoel of Londor at the Foot of the High Wall, then use Draw Out True Strength five times before entering the Catacombs of Carthus. Never heal the Dark Sigil during this run. Progress Anri and Yuria's connected questline, leave the disguised pilgrim alive at the Church of Yorshka, complete the ceremony at Darkmoon Tomb, then choose The Usurpation of Fire after the final boss.
Join Mound-makers before defeating the Curse-rotted Greatwood by entering the cage carried by the non-hostile servant in Undead Settlement. This early route is safer than relying on the later Sirris route. Complete Sirris's quest during NG for Darkmoon Loyalty and the Silvercat Ring. Do not offer a Pale Tongue to increase Rosaria's covenant rank until Sirris is finished.
Recruit Orbeck, Cornyx, Irina, and Karla, then buy every required spell before their questlines can change. Give Orbeck at least one scroll soon after recruiting him. Give the dark miracle tomes to Karla rather than Irina. Complete Siegward and Leonhard's quests because their rewards feed the miracle and gesture collections.
Collect every standard ring, spell, gesture, Estus Shard, Undead Bone Shard, coal, and infusion gem you encounter. The route is more quest-sensitive than Dark Souls Remastered, so a separate checklist for NPC rewards and boss souls prevents most cleanup problems.
Farm the required covenant items before starting NG+ if possible. Enemies are weakest in NG, and the item discovery setup is already available by the late game. Keep every boss soul until you have checked its required transposition.
Phase 2: Complete NG+, Proper Bow, and The End of Fire
Collect every +1 ring during NG+. Revisit optional areas because several upgraded rings sit behind bosses or routes that the main story does not require.
This is the best cycle for Proper Bow. Reach Rosaria, offer one Pale Tongue to her covenant, then summon Yellowfinger Heysel in Farron Keep before defeating the Abyss Watchers. The summon teaches the gesture immediately. This action ends Sirris's quest for the cycle, which is why her ring and gesture were secured in NG.
Use duplicate boss souls to obtain any transposed spells or rings you skipped in NG. The same multi-cycle planning appears in Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin, although Dark Souls III concentrates most of the conflict around rings, gestures, and NPC spell vendors.
For The End of Fire, defeat Oceiros, enter Untended Graves, and collect the Eyes of a Fire Keeper. Give the eyes to the Fire Keeper. After defeating the Soul of Cinder, use her summon sign near the bonfire and allow the flame to fade. Do not attack her during the final scene.
Phase 3: Complete NG++, All Rings, and To Link the First Flame
Collect every +2 ring and the required Life Ring +3 during NG++. Some sit in late or optional areas, so you still need Oceiros, Champion Gundyr, Archdragon Peak, and the Nameless King route. Keep all 107 required rings on the same character.
Finish any missing boss-soul transpositions, covenant rewards, spells, gestures, infusions, and upgrade trophies before the final ending. For To Link the First Flame, defeat the Soul of Cinder and interact with the bonfire without using the Fire Keeper summon or completing the Usurpation route.
One ending per cycle is the cleanest plan because NG++ is mandatory for rings anyway. Save backups can shorten the ending process, but they do not remove the need to reach the third cycle on the same character.

Dark Souls III Trophy Guide Tips
Lock In Early NPC Requirements
Several trophy routes can fail before the first half of the game is over. Handle these steps as soon as their areas open:
| NPC or Quest | Safe Trophy Step |
|---|---|
| Yoel and Yuria | Take five levels before entering the Catacombs and never heal the Dark Sigil during the Usurpation run |
| Orbeck | Reach 10 Intelligence, recruit him, then give him at least one scroll before progressing through more bosses |
| Sirris | Give Dreamchaser's Ashes to the Shrine Handmaid, learn Darkmoon Loyalty, and finish Sirris before ranking up Rosaria |
| Yellowfinger Heysel | Offer one Pale Tongue to Rosaria and summon Heysel in Farron Keep before the Abyss Watchers, preferably in NG+ |
| Siegward | Continue his meetings through Irithyll for gestures and the Emit Force miracle |
| Leonhard | Finish his late quest and transpose Rosaria's Soul into Bountiful Sunlight |
| Irina and Karla | Give normal divine tomes to Irina and dark tomes to Karla |
Keep Boss Souls Until Their Uses Are Planned
Consuming a boss soul can delay a required spell or ring until the next cycle. The Crystal Sage and Stray Demon souls deserve special attention because each has two useful outcomes. Taking the Crystal Sage's Rapier in NG improves item discovery, while Crystal Hail can wait for NG+. Havel's Ring is the practical first choice from the Stray Demon soul, with Boulder Heave taken later.
Do not sell covenant rewards, unique rings, or spell scrolls. Keep all collection items on one character and return stored rings to your inventory before expecting Master of Rings to unlock.
Farm Covenant Items in NG
Equip the Symbol of Avarice, Crystal Sage's Rapier, Covetous Gold Serpent Ring, and a Rusted Coin when farming. The Symbol of Avarice drains health, so remove it between runs. An upgraded Gold Serpent Ring from later cycles or The Ringed City can improve the setup, but no DLC item is required.
Offline drops can be slow, especially Proofs of a Concord Kept and Vertebra Shackles. Break the grind into short sessions and bank the required totals before advancing to stronger NG+ enemies.
Guide notes
Rings, Spells, Gestures, and Infusions
The collection trophies are the real platinum workload. DLC items do not count, but every required base-game item must be registered on the same character for its category.
| Collection | Required Total | Important Requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Rings | 107 | Includes standard rings, +1 rings, +2 rings, and Life Ring +3 through NG++ |
| Sorceries | 34 | Includes vendor, covenant, quest, and boss-soul sorceries |
| Pyromancies | 27 | Includes Warmth from Mound-makers and several boss-soul transpositions |
| Miracles | 35 | Includes covenant rewards, Yuria's tome, NPC rewards, and boss-soul miracles |
| Gestures | 33 | Seven are available by default and 26 come from NPCs, summons, or events |
| Infusions | 15 | Perform every gem infusion type at Andre after finding all four coals |
| Estus Shards | 11 | Produces 15 total flask uses when fully allocated |
| Undead Bone Shards | 10 | Raises the Firelink bonfire to level 11 and flask strength to +10 |
Required Boss-Soul Transpositions
| Soul | Trophy-Related Reward |
|---|---|
| Soul of a Crystal Sage | Crystal Hail sorcery |
| Soul of the Deacons of the Deep | Deep Soul sorcery |
| Soul of High Lord Wolnir | Black Serpent pyromancy |
| Soul of the Old Demon King | Chaos Bed Vestiges pyromancy |
| Soul of a Stray Demon | Havel's Ring and Boulder Heave across separate cycles |
| Soul of Aldrich | Lifehunt Scythe miracle |
| Soul of the Dancer | Soothing Sunlight miracle |
| Soul of Consumed Oceiros | White Dragon Breath sorcery |
| Soul of the Nameless King | Lightning Storm miracle |
| Soul of the Lords | Sunlight Spear miracle |
| Soul of Rosaria | Bountiful Sunlight miracle |
Master of Infusion requires Refined, Raw, Fire, Heavy, Sharp, Poison, Crystal, Blessed, Deep, Dark, Blood, Hollow, Chaos, Simple, and Lightning infusions. Use inexpensive spare weapons so your main weapon keeps its preferred scaling.

Missable Trophies in Dark Souls III
The Usurpation of Fire
This ending has the most failure points. Recruit Yoel, draw out strength five times before entering the Catacombs, keep the Dark Sigils, and make sure Yuria appears. Follow Anri's route through the Church of Yorshka without killing the disguised pilgrim. After Pontiff Sulyvahn, speak to Yuria and complete the Darkmoon Tomb ceremony before finishing the game.
Healing the Dark Sigil, missing Yoel's deadline, killing the pilgrim, or breaking Anri's route blocks the ending for that cycle.
Covenant: Mound-makers
The safest discovery method is available before the Curse-rotted Greatwood. From Undead Settlement, reach the cliffside cage carrier and enter its cage without attacking it. You are taken to Holy Knight Hodrick, who grants the covenant.
A later route becomes available through Sirris's quest, but it also depends on several correct NPC steps. Taking the early covenant removes that risk.
Master of Expression and the Sirris Conflict
Master of Expression is missable because several gestures require NPC summons or quest states. The main conflict is between Sirris and Yellowfinger Heysel. Sirris supplies Darkmoon Loyalty, while Heysel supplies Proper Bow after you offer a Pale Tongue to Rosaria. You cannot safely complete both routes in the same cycle, so finish Sirris in NG and Heysel in NG+.
Other easy-to-miss gestures include Silent Ally from Orbeck, Duel Bow from the Londor Pale Shade, By My Sword from Black Hand Gotthard, and Toast and Sleep from Siegward. Summon the required phantoms before their available bosses are defeated.
Master of Sorceries, Pyromancies, Miracles, and Rings
The four large collection trophies become missable when vendors leave, NPCs die, quests fail, boss souls are consumed, or covenant rewards are skipped. Recruit every spell trainer, deliver the correct tomes and scrolls, and buy their full trophy-related inventory before completing their questlines.
Master of Rings also depends on Sirris, Orbeck, Yuria, covenant ranks, boss souls, and NG++ pickups. Use one character for all 107 rings and check the standard, +1, and +2 versions as separate items.
Guide notes
Does Difficulty Affect Trophies and How Does NG+ Work?
Dark Souls III has no selectable difficulty, so there is no difficulty trophy. Your build, level, summons, and equipment determine how demanding each encounter feels.
NG+ increases enemy health and damage while keeping your character level, equipment, spells, covenant items, and most inventory. Key items and world progression reset. New +1 rings appear in NG+, while NG++ makes the remaining +2 rings and Life Ring +3 available. Earlier ring versions remain available, so collect anything you missed while revisiting each region.
All three ending trophies can be earned across the required cycles. The clean route is Usurpation in NG, End of Fire in NG+, and Link the First Flame in NG++.
Guide notes
Online and Covenant Trophy Notes
No trophy requires an online connection or PlayStation Plus. Online co-op and invasions can make covenant ranks much faster, but every required covenant item also has an offline enemy drop.
| Covenant | Total Needed for Platinum | Required Reward | Offline Farm |
|---|---|---|---|
| Warriors of Sunlight | 30 Sunlight Medals | Sacred Oath and Great Lightning Spear | Lothric Knights near the Lothric Castle bonfire |
| Rosaria's Fingers | 10 Pale Tongues | Obscuring Ring | Two Darkwraiths near Farron Keep Perimeter or the Abyss Watchers route |
| Mound-makers | 30 Vertebra Shackles | Warmth | Carthus Swordsmen near the Catacombs of Carthus bonfire |
| Watchdogs of Farron | 30 Wolf's Blood Swordgrass | Wolf Ring | Three Ghrus beside the Keep Ruins bonfire |
| Aldrich Faithful | 10 Human Dregs | Great Deep Soul | Deacons in the Anor Londo area after Pontiff |
| Blue Sentinels or Blades of the Darkmoon | 30 Proofs of a Concord Kept | Darkmoon Ring and Darkmoon Blade | Silver Knights beside the Anor Londo bonfire |
You can find a few covenant items as fixed world pickups during each cycle. Save them across NG, NG+, and NG++ before calculating the remaining farm.
Guide notes
Best Build for the Dark Souls III Platinum
Knight is the simplest starting class. Raise Vigor toward 27 early, add enough Endurance to attack and roll comfortably, then invest in Strength, Dexterity, or both based on your chosen weapon. Keep equip load below 70 percent to retain a normal roll.
A Longsword, Lothric Knight Sword, or another familiar straight sword can carry the entire route. Use a Raw infusion before your damage stats are developed, then switch to Heavy, Sharp, Refined, or an elemental option that matches the finished build. Upgrade one dependable standard weapon to +10 for Supreme Weapon Reinforcement.
Carry a shield with 100 percent physical damage reduction for fast enemies and unfamiliar areas. The combat is quicker and more aggressive than the original Dark Souls, with timing closer to Bloodborne, but patient stamina management remains more reliable than repeated panic rolls.
Reach 10 Intelligence for Orbeck even on a melee build. Rosaria can reallocate levels later if those points no longer fit your final setup, preferably after Sirris's quest is complete.

Boss Strategies
Pontiff Sulyvahn
Pontiff punishes retreating with long combinations. Stay close to his side, roll through the final swing, then take one or two attacks. His opening leap can be parried with practice, but blocking and controlled dodges are safer for a first clear.
During phase two, damage the forming clone before it becomes active. The clone telegraphs Pontiff's next attack, so dodge the copy first and expect the real strike immediately afterward.
Lothric, Younger Prince
Stay near Lorian's back and avoid locking the camera into a wall. His teleports have delayed follow-ups, so react to the attack rather than rolling as soon as he disappears.
In phase two, Lothric rides on Lorian's back. Continue damaging Lorian, then attack Lothric during the revive animation and after moves that expose his back. Defeating Lothric ends the fight even if Lorian still has health.
Soul of Cinder
The first phase rotates through sword, curved sword, spear, and sorcery styles. The curved-sword form is the least forgiving, so create distance until it changes. The sorcery form leaves the longest punish windows.
In phase two, avoid the extended flaming combo and its final explosion. Stay at medium range, bait the leap or grab, then punish with one or two attacks before resetting.
Guide notes
DLC Trophy Notes
Ashes of Ariandel and The Ringed City have no separate trophies. Their rings, sorceries, pyromancies, and miracles are not required for the base-game collection trophies.
The DLC can still help the platinum. The Covetous Gold Serpent Ring +3 improves item discovery, and extra upgrade materials can support alternate weapons. Both expansions are optional for the full 43-trophy list.
Guide notes
Glitched Trophies and Save Safety
There are no consistently unobtainable trophies on the current game version. Most collection complaints come from a missing variant, a ring left in storage, or an item granted to a starting class without being registered as a pickup.
Sorcerers should drop the Young Dragon Ring and immediately pick it up again if Master of Rings does not unlock. Move every required ring from storage to inventory, then compare the full list before dropping anything. Never leave a dropped ring behind or reload the area before recovering it.
Cloud or USB backups are useful before ending choices and large covenant turn-ins. They protect against an accidental NPC kill or ending interaction, but a backup cannot replace the NG++ ring requirement.
Focus these first
Hardest Trophies and How to Get Them
Master of Rings
You need all 107 base-game rings on one character. This includes every normal version, every +1 and +2 variant, and Life Ring +3. The final set reaches NG++ and includes rewards from Sirris, Orbeck, Yuria, covenants, boss souls, and optional areas.
Track rings by game cycle and region rather than using one alphabetical list. Finish all NG rings before advancing, repeat the process for +1 rings in NG+, then sweep every +2 location in NG++. The covenant grind is why the game belongs in hardest PlayStation Platinums discussions even though the combat itself becomes manageable with a strong build.
Master of Miracles
All 35 base-game miracles must be held by one character. The longest requirements are 30 Sunlight Medals for Great Lightning Spear and 30 Proofs of a Concord Kept for Darkmoon Blade. Yuria's appearance, Siegward's quest, Leonhard's quest, Irina and Karla's inventories, and several boss souls also matter.
Secure Yuria's tome during the Usurpation cycle, give dark tomes to Karla, and transpose every miracle-producing boss soul before consuming duplicates. Save Proof farming for a focused item discovery session because it is usually the slowest offline drop.
Master of Pyromancies
The 27 pyromancies include Warmth, which requires 30 Vertebra Shackles from Mound-makers. You also need Cornyx, Karla, the relevant tomes, and boss-soul pyromancies including Black Serpent, Chaos Bed Vestiges, and Boulder Heave.
Carthus Swordsmen can drop Vertebra Shackles offline. Use the full item discovery setup and farm in NG while they die quickly.
The Nameless King
The Nameless King is the hardest combat trophy for most players. In phase one, target the drake's head and avoid standing beneath its body, where the camera becomes unreliable. Sprint away from the downward fire breath, then punish the head after lightning slams and grounded swipes.
In phase two, roll later than instinct suggests because many spear attacks are deliberately delayed. Stay at medium range, take one or two hits after a completed combo, and use lightning resistance. A fast weapon gives you safer recovery than an ultra-heavy attack.

Quick answers
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to platinum Dark Souls III?
Expect about 80 to 100 hours. Offline covenant farming can push the total higher if rare drops are uncooperative.
How hard is the Dark Souls III platinum?
The platinum is about 6/10. The combat has demanding bosses, but the larger challenge is managing NPC quests, three cycles, 107 rings, and covenant rewards.
Are there missable trophies in Dark Souls III?
Yes. Seven trophies are commonly flagged as missable, with most risk coming from Mound-makers, the Usurpation ending, and collection items tied to NPC quests.
Does difficulty affect trophies in Dark Souls III?
No. There is no selectable difficulty and no difficulty-specific trophy.
How many playthroughs are needed for the Dark Souls III platinum?
You need three cycles on one character. Master of Rings requires items that first appear in NG++, even if ending trophies are handled with save backups.
Are there online trophies in Dark Souls III?
No. Every trophy can be earned offline, although online covenant activity can shorten several item grinds.
Do you need the Dark Souls III DLC for the platinum?
No. Ashes of Ariandel and The Ringed City add no trophies, and their spells and rings are excluded from the base-game collection requirements.
What is the hardest trophy in Dark Souls III?
Master of Rings is usually the hardest overall because it requires 107 rings across NG++, multiple quest rewards, boss-soul choices, and covenant ranks.
Can all rings and spells be split between characters?
No. Every item for a specific collection trophy must be registered on one character. Use the same platinum character for all rings, sorceries, pyromancies, miracles, and gestures.
What should you do if Master of Rings does not unlock?
Move every required ring into your inventory and recheck all variants. A Sorcerer may need to drop the starting Young Dragon Ring and immediately pick it up so the game registers the acquisition.
Dark Souls III is a long but controlled platinum when NPC conflicts are separated across cycles and covenant farming is finished before enemy scaling rises. Players who prefer direct help with the remaining grind can use DamnModz PlayStation trophy services, while the full route remains available offline.
DamnModz supports PlayStation games with Platinum trophies. Choose the game and tell us what remains on your list.
