Shadow of the Tomb Raider Trophy Guide and Platinum Roadmap
Follow these phases in order to protect the missable work and keep the Shadow of the Tomb Raider Platinum cleanup efficient.
Phase 1: First run on an easier difficulty
Play on Smart and Resourceful or Rite of Passage for the collectible and skill run. Deadly Obsession comes later.
Buy the Lockpick and Rope Ascender from the merchant during Find Takiy's Dice for 6100 gold total, before she stops being marked on your map.
Buy Archivist Maps and Explorer Backpacks in each region to reveal collectible locations rather than searching blind.
Complete all 9 Challenge Tombs, which are straightforward on this difficulty since Lara gives hints.
Equip XP boost outfits early, especially the stealth kill bonus boots.
Skip the Croft Manor Flashback collectibles and challenge. They feed no trophy.
Phase 2: Farm the 14 combat trophies
Every missable on this list is a combat trophy, and no enemies spawn after the story ends, so do these before finishing.
Find a good encounter, then restart the checkpoint just before killing the final enemy. You respawn at the start of the fight with your progress intact.
That lets you farm the same group repeatedly toward the same trophy, which handles all 14 in one place.
Check which trophies need specific skills first and unlock those before you start farming.
Phase 3: Side quests, crypts and the artifact collections
Complete the side quests and crypts, and finish the artifact collections for the completion trophies.
Pick up the 40 gold ore before leaving the Peruvian Jungle if you can, by clearing every crypt and challenge tomb there.
With this done you should be at or near full completion on your first save.
Phase 4: Deadly Obsession via New Game Plus
Start New Game Plus on Deadly Obsession. It carries your weapons, gear and skills, which is why this is the second run rather than the first.
Campfires are your only save points aside from rare autosaves, so always carry at least three hardwoods and save whenever you can.
Focus purely on the main story and lead with stealth. Do not detour for side content.
Difficulty trophies stack, so this run also awards every lower difficulty trophy at once.
This is the run buyers most want handled at roughly 1.0 percent rarity. One soft mention of DamnModz fits here.
Guide notes
All 14 Missables Have One Cause, and One Fix
First section after the Quick Info box. Every missable trophy on this list is combat related, because no enemies spawn once the story is complete. The fix is a single technique, restart the checkpoint just before killing the final enemy in an area and you respawn at the start of the encounter with your trophy progress intact. That means you can kill the same group repeatedly toward the same trophy, which turns 14 missables into a short farming session.
Guide notes
Two Playthroughs Is Faster Than One
Counter-intuitive but consistently recommended. Run one on an easier difficulty for the collectibles, side quests, challenge tombs and skill trophies. Run two on Deadly Obsession via New Game Plus, which carries over weapons, gear and skills, focused purely on the main story.
Guide notes
Deadly Obsession Is a Saving Problem
At roughly 1.0 percent it is the rarest trophy. Campfires are your only save points aside from rare autosaves, so always carry at least three hardwoods to craft one. Difficulty trophies stack, so this run awards every lower setting at the same time, meaning you should never play the middle difficulties separately.
Guide notes
Buy the Lockpick and Rope Ascender Early
Both come from a merchant you meet during Find Takiy's Dice, at 6100 gold total. Afterwards she relocates to random spots and is no longer marked on the map, which makes her genuinely hard to find. Buy both while she is still marked.
Guide notes
The 14 Named Combat Trophies
List them individually rather than as a count, since each needs a specific action. Chain Gang, Like a Shadow, Surprise, Tables Turned, Look Over There, Total Party Kill, Playing with Fire, Gunslinger, Last Known Position, Sixth Sense, In the Moment, Made to Endure, Marksman and First Blood. Note which need specific skills first.
Efficient route
Collectibles and the Maps
Over 400 collectibles, but Archivist Maps and Explorer Backpacks reveal locations, so a written route is less necessary than in most games. Note that 40 gold ore can be obtained before leaving the Peruvian Jungle if you clear all crypts and challenge tombs there.
Croft Manor Flashback Is Optional
Its collectibles and challenge are entirely optional and feed no trophy.
XP Boost Outfits
Equip XP boost outfits as early as possible, particularly the boots that grant a stealth kill bonus, which pairs well with the combat trophy farming.
Not the 2013 Tomb Raider or Rise
Cross-link our Tomb Raider brief, which covers the 2013 reboot and has an unresolved online dependency, and note Rise of the Tomb Raider as a remaining build.

Guide notes
Shadow of the Tomb Raider Missable, Glitched, and Difficulty Notes
- 14 missable trophies, and all of them are combat related, because no enemies spawn after the story is completed.
- One technique neutralises all of them. Restart the checkpoint just before killing the final enemy in an encounter and you respawn at the start with your trophy progress intact, so the same enemies can be killed repeatedly toward one trophy.
- Difficulty does affect trophies. Deadly Obsession is required and sits at roughly 1.0 percent, and difficulty trophies stack so it awards every lower setting.
- On Deadly Obsession, campfires are your only save points aside from rare autosaves, so carry at least three hardwoods at all times.
- The merchant selling the Lockpick and Rope Ascender stops being marked on your map after Find Takiy's Dice and relocates randomly, so buy both for 6100 gold while she is still findable.
- The DLC is not required for the platinum. DLC trophies are entirely independent.
- Croft Manor Flashback collectibles and challenge are optional and feed no trophy.
- Two playthroughs is strongly recommended and is genuinely faster than attempting everything in one.
Quick answers
Frequently Asked Questions
Which Shadow of the Tomb Raider trophies are missable?
Fourteen, and every one is a combat trophy. No enemies spawn once the story is complete, so all combat trophies must be earned before then.
How do you farm the combat trophies in Shadow of the Tomb Raider?
Restart the checkpoint just before killing the final enemy in an encounter. You respawn at the start of the fight with your trophy progress intact, so the same group can be killed repeatedly toward one trophy.
Do you need Deadly Obsession for the platinum?
Yes, and it is the rarest trophy at roughly 1.0 percent. Difficulty trophies stack though, so a Deadly Obsession completion awards every lower difficulty trophy too.
How many playthroughs does Shadow of the Tomb Raider need?
One is possible but two is strongly recommended and actually faster. Do collectibles and skills on an easier run, then Deadly Obsession via New Game Plus focused purely on story.
What makes Deadly Obsession hard in Shadow of the Tomb Raider?
Saving. Campfires are your only save points aside from rare autosaves, so always carry at least three hardwoods to craft one and lead with stealth.
Do you need the DLC for the Shadow of the Tomb Raider platinum?
No. The base list is 64 trophies and the DLC adds another 15 that are entirely independent of the platinum.
How long does it take to platinum Shadow of the Tomb Raider?
Around 25 to 35 hours, typically about 31, across two playthroughs.
Where do you buy the Lockpick and Rope Ascender?
From the merchant you meet during Find Takiy's Dice, for 6100 gold total. Buy both then, because afterwards she moves to random unmarked locations and becomes hard to find.
