What Remains of Edith Finch Trophy Guide and Platinum Roadmap
Follow these phases in order to protect the missable work and keep the What Remains of Edith Finch Platinum cleanup efficient.
Phase 0: Launch the PS5 version
If you want a platinum, play the PS5 version. The PS4 release does not have one.
The PS5 upgrade is free if you own the PS4 version, so this costs nothing but a download.
Read the missable list before starting. There are nine of them and several occur in the first few minutes.
Everything is recoverable via Replay a story afterwards, so a mistake costs minutes rather than a playthrough.
Phase 1: The approach and the house
At the forest path split, take the downward path first to the basketball hoop, then return and take the upward path for All Roads.
Before entering the house, look through the peephole in the fence to the left of it. That is the first of nine for A Closer Look.
Work through the remaining peepholes in the sealed doors as you explore, viewing each long enough for Edith's commentary and all text messages.
Visit the telescope on the cliff by Odin's statue.
Phase 2: The individual stories
Play all 13 characters' stories to complete the family tree journal for Everything Ends. Their stories are found via objects with a distinctive book icon.
In Molly's story as the owl, swoop and snatch both rabbits when the on-screen text marks them, for Great Owl.
In the wheelhouse, wait roughly two minutes for the drunken sailor to finish his song and do NOT kill him until Let Him Finish pops.
Pick up Clear the Table and G-R-E-G-O-R-Y in their respective chapters.
Phase 3: The ending and cleanup
Let the ending credits roll fully for Thanks, Johann.
Replay Calvin's story for Loop-de-loop-de-loop, which also gets you used to the replay menu.
Use Replay a story from the pause menu for anything else you missed. It works even for characters you skipped entirely.
The platinum should follow at around two hours on the PS5 version.
Guide notes
Only the PS5 Version Has a Platinum
First section after the Quick Info box. The PS4 release has 9 trophies and no platinum. The PS5 upgrade added trophies including a platinum, and it is free for anyone who owns the PS4 version. Someone who completes everything on PS4 will finish with no platinum and no explanation, which makes this the most important line on the page.
Guide notes
Every Missable Is Recoverable
There are 8 missables on PS4 and 9 on PS5, which sounds severe on a game finishable in under three hours. In practice all are recoverable, because Replay a story from the pause menu becomes available once you finish and works even for characters whose stories you skipped entirely. Say this immediately after the count so nobody plans two blind playthroughs.
Guide notes
All Roads, In the First Minutes
At the forest path split near the start, take the downward path first and walk to the basketball hoop, then return and take the upward path. The trophy fires as you approach the house.
Guide notes
Do Not Kill the Sailor Yet
Let Him Finish requires waiting in the wheelhouse for roughly two minutes while the drunken sailor completes his song. Do not kill him until the trophy has popped. This is the single most commonly lost trophy in the game and the instruction is one sentence.
Efficient route
A Closer Look
All nine peepholes plus the telescope, each viewed long enough to hear Edith's commentary and see all the text messages. Start with the peephole in the fence to the left of the house before you even go inside, and the telescope is on the cliff by Odin's statue. The rest are in the sealed doors around the house.
Great Owl
During Molly's story you become an owl. Two rabbits run below and you need to swoop and snatch both, with on-screen text marking where they appear. Press and hold to swoop low.
Everything Ends
Complete the family tree journal, which means finding all 13 characters' stories. Skipped characters are accessible from the pause menu afterwards, and their stories are found via interactable objects with a distinctive book icon.
Thanks, Johann and the Credits
Let the ending credits roll fully. A small thing that is easy to skip past on a short game.
Loop-de-loop-de-loop
Replay Calvin's story after completing the game. It exists purely to make you use the replay feature, so pair it with any missable cleanup.
The PS5 Upgrade Details
Free for PS4 and Xbox One owners, running at 60 frames per second and 4K. Worth a line, since it is both the platinum route and a genuine improvement.
