Gran Turismo 7 Trophy Guide and Platinum Roadmap

Follow these phases in order to protect the missable work and keep the Gran Turismo 7 Platinum cleanup efficient.

1

Phase 0: Understand the connection requirement

Trophies only unlock while you are logged into the game servers, and the always-online requirement applies even to single player.

That is not theoretical. On 17 March 2022 the servers went down for around 30 hours and nobody could play at all.

If you are planning to stack PS4 and PS5 platinums, verify the Menu Book 39 trophy first, since it reportedly cannot unlock on a second stack.

Only four trophies are genuinely multiplayer, so competitive racing is a small part of the list.

2

Phase 1: The GT Cafe and the Menu Books

Work through all 39 Menu Books, which function as the campaign and yield close to 40 percent of all trophies including both golds.

Press Start on each menu so the objective registers, since the first trophy fires on that action.

Podium in at least third place for the collection races. Difficulty and driving assists do not affect those placements.

Do not purchase any cars during this phase apart from the Legendary 24 Hour Cars, since the Cafe awards many vehicles.

Pick up the easy incidental trophies as they come, such as moving up five positions in a lap and finishing on the podium ten times.

3

Phase 2: All gold licences

Five licences with ten challenges each, and you need gold in every one. This is the genuine skill wall on the list.

Treat it as practice rather than an obstacle, since the driving knowledge makes everything afterwards easier.

Work these intermittently alongside the Cafe rather than as a single block, since they are mentally demanding.

This is the section buyers most often want handled. One soft mention of DamnModz fits here, then back to strategy.

4

Phase 3: Money and the car collection

By now you should have a substantial bank from single player, which is exactly why you avoided buying cars early.

Do not buy cars you can get for free, since licences, chapters and quests award dozens and duplicates are pure waste.

Acquire the Three Legendary Cars, the rarest trophy at 1.3 percent, where availability rather than difficulty is the constraint.

Complete the remaining collection and tuning trophies with your saved credits.

5

Phase 4: The online four and cleanup

Take Sport Mode Debut, In-Depth Mastery and both Going the Distance Together trophies.

Finish the miscellaneous trophies, most of which just need the right mode and setup, including the Angeles Crest Highway distance drive.

Do these intermittently between other work rather than as a dedicated phase, since a few need a fair time commitment.

Nothing here is missable, so anything outstanding can be picked up whenever you like.

Guide notes

It Needs a Connection Even for Single Player

First section after the Quick Info box. Gran Turismo 7 carries an always-online requirement that applies to single player modes, and trophies can only be obtained while you are logged into the game servers. The concrete illustration is worth publishing rather than a generic warning. On 17 March 2022, two weeks after release, the servers went down and stayed down for around 30 hours, and because of the always-online requirement nobody could play the game at all during that time, offline or otherwise.

Guide notes

Only Four Trophies Are Actually Multiplayer

The genuinely online trophies are Sport Mode Debut, In-Depth Mastery, and the two Going the Distance Together trophies covering The Atlantic and The Autobahn. Everything else is single player content that simply cannot record without a connection.

Guide notes

The Second Platinum Is Reportedly Blocked

PS4 and PS5 have separate platinums, so a stack is possible in principle. But the Menu Book 39 completion trophy is flagged with a stacking problem. If you earn your platinum on PS4 and then attempt PS5, or the reverse, you reportedly cannot unlock this trophy on the second stack, which blocks that platinum entirely.

Guide notes

Do the Single Player First, and Why

The recommended order is single player before anything else, and the reason is the in-game economy rather than difficulty. You will need as much money as possible saved for the final trophy categories, and working through single player first minimises your early expenses while building your bank. The GT Cafe alone yields close to 40 percent of all available trophies including both golds, which accounts for more than half the total points on the list.

Guide notes

Do Not Buy Cars Early

Two separate warnings that both cost money. First, avoid purchasing any cars until the Cafe menus and licence tests are complete, with the Legendary 24 Hour Cars as the exception, because those modes award a large number of vehicles toward the collection trophy. Second, do not buy cars you can obtain for free, since you receive dozens across your career for licences, chapters and quests, and buying blindly can leave you holding two identical vehicles.

Guide notes

All Gold Licences Is the Skill Wall

There are five licences with ten challenges each in the Licence Pavilion, and the trophy requires gold in every single test. This is the genuine difficulty on the list and it is pure driving skill. Frame it as practice rather than as an obstacle, since the knowledge gained makes the rest of the game considerably easier, and note that difficulty settings and driving assists do not affect the Cafe race requirements.

Guide notes

Three Legendary Cars

Acquiring three legendary race cars once destined to win 24 hour races, and the rarest required trophy at just 1.3 percent. This is where the money saved during single player goes, which is why the purchasing discipline above matters so much. Give guidance on which cars qualify and when they appear, since availability rather than difficulty is the constraint.

Efficient route

The 39 Menu Books

The Cafe is effectively the campaign. Menu Book 1 requires collecting three Japanese compact cars, the Mazda Demio, Honda Fit-Hybrid and Toyota Aqua, obtained by finishing the associated races in at least third place. Difficulty level and driving assists do not matter for those placements. Make sure you actually press Start on each menu so the objective appears, since the first trophy fires on that action rather than on completion.

1

Rain Royalty Was Fixed

It was glitched at launch and fixed as of patch 1.06, released 10 March 2022.

2

The Microtransaction Context

Post-launch changes made high-end cars more expensive, which made the game's microtransactions more tempting even for casual players.

3

Miscellaneous Trophies

Most of the remaining trophies just require entering the right mode with the correct setup and none are difficult, though a few need a fair time commitment.

Quick answers

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Gran Turismo 7 need to be online for trophies?

Yes. Trophies only unlock while you are logged into the servers, and the always-online requirement applies even to single player modes. On 17 March 2022 a 30 hour outage locked everyone out entirely.

How many Gran Turismo 7 trophies are multiplayer?

Only four. Sport Mode Debut, In-Depth Mastery and both Going the Distance Together trophies. Everything else is single player content that simply cannot record without a connection.

Can you stack the Gran Turismo 7 platinum on PS4 and PS5?

The platinums are separate, but the Menu Book 39 trophy reportedly cannot unlock on a second stack, which would block the second platinum. Verify before investing another 100 hours.

What order should you do Gran Turismo 7 trophies in?

Single player first. You need as much money saved as possible for the final categories, and the GT Cafe alone yields close to 40 percent of all trophies including both golds.

Should you buy cars in Gran Turismo 7?

Not early. Hold off until the Cafe menus and licence tests are done, apart from the Legendary 24 Hour Cars, and never buy a car you can get free from licences, chapters or quests.

What is the rarest Gran Turismo 7 trophy?

Three Legendary Cars at roughly 1.3 percent, for acquiring three legendary race cars once destined to win 24 hour races. Availability rather than difficulty is what makes it rare.

How hard are the Gran Turismo 7 licence tests?

Getting gold in all fifty tests across five licences is the genuine skill wall on this list. The upside is that the driving knowledge makes the rest of the game considerably easier.

How long does the Gran Turismo 7 platinum take?

Over 100 hours at roughly 8 out of 10 difficulty, with the licence tests and the money grind for the legendary cars accounting for most of it.
