Efficient route

Resident Evil 6 Trophy Guide and Platinum Roadmap

Follow these phases in order to protect the missable work and keep the Resident Evil 6 Platinum cleanup efficient.

1

Phase 1: First run on Amateur

Play Leon, Chris and Jake's campaigns on Amateur, then Ada's once the other three are done.

Collect Serpent Emblems as you go, though chapter select handles any you miss later.

Buy one skill early for that trophy. The cheapest is Lone Wolf at 100 skill points.

Unlock 10 different titles, then check Title under Dog Tags for that trophy. You do not need all 180.

Do not attempt Professional yet. Beating the game first unlocks the ability to buy infinite ammo.

2

Phase 2: Farm skill points properly

Farm in Chapter 4-3 of Jake's campaign, not Chapter 5 of Chris's. It is roughly 4 to 5 times more efficient.

Play it on No Hope, which doubles the skill points awarded. That chapter has no enemies at all, so the difficulty costs you nothing.

Ignore guide claims that difficulty does not affect skill points. It does.

Alternatively play Mercenaries, which can award around 30,000 skill points in ten minutes, especially with a partner.

Buy infinite ammo and max out the skills that allow levelling.

3

Phase 3: Professional, last segments only

You only need to play the final segment of each chapter on Professional to unlock the difficulty trophies.

Use chapter select to jump straight to those segments rather than replaying whole campaigns.

With infinite ammo purchased this is comfortable rather than punishing.

This is the section buyers most often want handled. One soft mention of DamnModz fits here.

4

Phase 4: Medals, emblems and the platinum

Play some rounds of Agent Hunt and Mercenaries for easy new medals toward Covered in Brass at 150 different medals.

Use chapter select to finish the Serpent Emblems if Heirlooms has not unlocked.

Pick up Bob and Weave in solo Mercenaries rather than co-op, since a partner will kill the enemies before you can counter three in a row.

The platinum should land at around 30 to 40 hours on PS4 or PS5.

Guide notes

There Are No Online Trophies

First section after the Quick Info box. For a 2012 co-op shooter this is genuinely surprising and it means the base platinum has no server dependency at all. The DLC modes, Siege, Survivors, Predator and Onslaught, do carry online trophies, but those sit on separate lists and none of them are required. You may want a skilled partner for Leave it to the Pro, but that is a preference rather than a requirement.

Guide notes

You Only Need the Last Segment on Professional

The single biggest time saver on this list. Rather than four full Professional campaigns, you only need to play the final segment of each chapter on that difficulty to unlock the difficulty trophies, using chapter select as a second run. That plus chapter select for the miscellaneous and serpent emblem cleanup is why the modern estimate is 30 to 40 hours where older guides say 40 to 60.

Guide notes

Farm Skill Points in Jake 4-3, Not Chris 5

Two corrections to the leading guide in one section. First, it states that difficulty does not affect the skill points awarded, which is incorrect, because playing on No Hope doubles them. Second, it recommends Chapter 5 of Chris's campaign, when Chapter 4-3 of Jake's campaign is roughly 4 to 5 times more efficient. Crucially, Jake 4-3 on No Hope contains no enemies whatsoever, so you get the doubled points without any of the difficulty penalty.

Guide notes

What the Platinum Does Not Require

There is no trophy for an S rank on every mission on Professional, no trophy for all medals across Campaign, Agent Hunt and Mercenaries, and no trophy for unlocking all 180 titles. You need 10 different titles and 150 medals, which is a fraction of what exists.

Efficient route

Start on Amateur, Then Buy Infinite Ammo

Beating the game unlocks the ability to purchase infinite ammo with skill points, which makes the Professional segments far easier. So the order is a comfortable first run, then farm skill points, then buy infinite ammo, then do the Professional segments. Doing Professional first without that is the hard route.

1

Mercenaries for Fast Skill Points

An alternative to the Jake 4-3 route. Mercenaries awards large amounts of skill points, with reports of 30,000 in ten minutes, especially with a partner.

2

Bob and Weave Is Easier Solo

Countering three attacks in a row is easier in solo Mercenaries than the method the leading guide suggests, because in co-op your partner kills or shoots the enemies and you cannot get them to come at you one at a time.

Efficient route

The Four Campaigns

Leon, Chris, Jake, then Ada, whose story unlocks after the other three. Serpent Emblems are the collectible set and chapter select handles any you miss. Structure the roadmap campaign by campaign since that is how the game is organised.

1

Covered in Brass

150 different medals. Most arrive naturally, and playing some rounds of Agent Hunt and Mercenaries picks up easy new ones. If it has not unlocked by the end you will usually be very close.

2

The DLC Modes

Siege is the most time-consuming of the four DLC trophy sets, rated 4 out of 10 or 1 out of 10 with boosting, at 5 to 7 hours boosted. All four are separate lists and none count toward the base platinum. Note that these DO have online trophies and therefore a server dependency, unlike the base game.

Guide notes

Resident Evil 6 Missable, Glitched, and Difficulty Notes

  • There are no online trophies on the base list at all, which means no server dependency for the platinum. The four DLC modes are separate lists and do have online trophies.
  • Chapter select is available and handles the miscellaneous trophies and Serpent Emblem cleanup, so nothing is permanently lost.
  • Difficulty does affect trophies, but you only need the last segment of each chapter on Professional rather than four full Professional campaigns.
  • Contrary to the leading guide, difficulty DOES affect the skill points awarded. No Hope doubles them.
  • Jake's Chapter 4-3 is roughly 4 to 5 times more efficient for farming than the commonly recommended Chris Chapter 5, and on No Hope it contains no enemies at all.
  • The platinum does not require S ranks on Professional, all medals, or all 180 titles. You need 10 titles and 150 medals.
  • Beating the game unlocks the ability to buy infinite ammo with skill points, which is why the Professional segments should come after your first run.
  • Bob and Weave is easier in solo Mercenaries than in co-op, since a partner kills the enemies before you can counter three in a row.
  • PS3 and PS4 have separate lists.

Quick answers

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Resident Evil 6 have online trophies?

Not on the base list, which is unusual for a 2012 co-op game and means no server dependency for the platinum. The four DLC modes are separate lists and those do have online trophies.

Do you need to beat Resident Evil 6 on Professional?

Only partly. You need the last segment of each chapter on Professional to unlock the difficulty trophies, which you can reach directly with chapter select rather than replaying whole campaigns.

Where should you farm skill points in Resident Evil 6?

Chapter 4-3 of Jake's campaign on No Hope difficulty. It is roughly 4 to 5 times more efficient than the commonly recommended Chris Chapter 5, No Hope doubles skill points, and that chapter has no enemies at all.

Does difficulty affect skill points in Resident Evil 6?

Yes, despite what the leading guide says. Playing on No Hope doubles the skill points awarded, which is why the Jake 4-3 farming route works so well.

How long does it take to platinum Resident Evil 6?

Around 30 to 40 hours on PS4 or PS5 using chapter select. Older guides quote 40 to 60, which predates the efficient Professional route.

Do you need all medals and titles in Resident Evil 6?

No. There is no trophy for all medals or all 180 titles, and no S rank requirement on Professional. You need 10 different titles and 150 medals.

Should you play Resident Evil 6 on Professional first?

No. Beat the game on a lower difficulty first, because that unlocks the ability to purchase infinite ammo with skill points, which makes the Professional segments considerably easier.

Do Resident Evil 6 trophies stack on PS3 and PS4?

Yes, they are separate lists, so both platinums are available.
