Follow these phases in order to protect the missable work and keep the Undertale Platinum cleanup efficient.
Phase 1: Play to Hotlands Floor 2, sparing Papyrus
Play however you like. The route has no effect on the trophy list.
Spare Papyrus during his boss battle. This is the only genuinely important decision, because it keeps the Dog Shrine reachable from his house.
Feel free to kill most other enemies. Working out Mercy conditions for later enemies is harder than fighting them and adds nothing to the platinum.
Many trophies are simply tied to reaching specific save points, so they arrive naturally as you progress.
Continue to the elevator in Hotlands leading to the second floor. Almost everything you need is behind you by then.
Phase 2: Items and the early trophies
The item-count trophies are straightforward and hard to miss, arriving as you pick up your first few items.
Check the current avoidance method for the reported glitched item trophies before you get too far in.
You do not need to finish the game, so there is no need to push toward an ending.
Phase 3: The Dog Shrine and 350G
Return to Papyrus's house, enter the kitchen and examine the sink. A dog opens the path to the Dog Shrine.
Farm gold first. Certain items sell above their listed value, and the snail race pays out on bets.
Donate one gold per dialogue up to the per-visit cap. The first visit allows only 2G, and you must leave and re-enter to continue.
Fifteen visits gets you to 350G and Dognation Level 15, the rarest trophy on the list.
The platinum lands here for most players, without ever reaching the ending.
Alternative: the speed route
A documented Genocide route can deliver the platinum in under an hour, rated around 2 out of 10.
It involves fighting Undyne the Undying, the main obstacle on that route.
On a Genocide run, killing Papyrus is safe because the Dog Shrine becomes accessible from the Waterfall garbage dump instead.
Present as an option rather than the default, since many readers will want to actually play the game.

The Papyrus Rule
The only decision that matters, with three cases. Sparing Papyrus makes the Dog Shrine accessible from his house. Killing him during a Genocide run makes it accessible from the garbage dump at Waterfall. Killing him on a neutral run means there is no way to reach the Dog Shrine at all and those trophies are permanently lost.

Reaching the Shrine is only half of it. You can donate one gold per dialogue and only a limited amount per visit, starting at 2G, and you must leave the room and return to continue. Dognation Level 15 takes fifteen visits. This is the rarest trophy at 14.7 percent and the mechanic is why.
