Baldur's Gate 3 Trophy Guide and Platinum Walkthrough

This Baldur's Gate 3 trophy guide gives you a two-playthrough route to the Platinum, with every missable chain, difficulty requirement, boss condition, and ending save covered.

Baldur's Gate 3 is one of the longer entries in the PlayStation trophy guide library because decisions made in Act 1 can determine trophies more than 100 hours later. The safest route is a good-aligned custom-character run for every long quest chain, followed by a faster Dark Urge run on Tactician.

At a glance

Baldur's Gate 3 Trophy Guide Quick Info

Difficulty 7/10
Time to Platinum 150-200 hours
Trophies 55 total: 47 Bronze, 4 Silver, 3 Gold, 1 Platinum. Foehammer is an extra Gold trophy and is not required for the Platinum.
Playthroughs Two recommended. One is technically possible with a Tactician Dark Urge run, careful planning, and ending reloads.
Online Trophies None. Every trophy can be earned solo.
Missable Trophies 46 are technically missable. The main risks are multi-act quest chains, conditional boss fights, and ending choices.
Difficulty affects trophies? Yes. Critical Hit requires a full Tactician completion. Foehammer requires Honour Mode for optional 100% completion.
Hardest Trophy Critical Hit for the Platinum. Foehammer is harder but sits outside the Platinum requirement.
Glitched Trophies No consistently unobtainable trophies on the current Patch 8 version. Mods disable trophies, and ending sequences should be allowed to finish fully.

This BG3 trophy guide covers the complete Baldur's Gate 3 base-game Platinum route, with Honour Mode treated separately for 100% completion.

Efficient route

Baldur's Gate 3 Trophy Guide: Platinum Roadmap

1

Phase 1: Start an Unmodded Custom-Character Run

Use Explorer or Balanced for the first playthrough. I recommend a custom character rather than the Dark Urge because the clean heroic route makes Leave No One Behind, Hot Date, Under Lock and Key, and the companion trophies easier to protect.

A Bard is the most convenient main character. High Charisma helps with route-saving dialogue checks, Bard naturally handles Busker, and a College of Swords build remains effective in combat. Sorcerer, Paladin, and Warlock are also good choices if you prefer another Charisma class.

Disable every mod before creating the save. Baldur's Gate 3 automatically disables trophies while mods are active, including supported console mods. Keep the trophy run separate from any modded campaign.

Create manual saves before major conversations, boss fights, Act transitions, and companion decisions. Long Rest regularly because several camp scenes are required for Astarion, Gale, Karlach, Scratch, the owlbear cub, Wyll, and the Emperor.

The full route is comparable in length to Persona 5, but Baldur's Gate 3 replaces calendar planning with branching quests and persistent character survival.

2

Phase 2: Complete Every Act 1 Setup and Challenge

Defeat Commander Zhalk on the Nautiloid before touching the transponder for Devil's in the Details. Let the mind flayer hold his attention, use Shadowheart's Command: Drop to take Zhalk's weapon if available, and focus your party's damage before the reinforcements arrive.

After the crash, recruit every origin companion and keep them alive. Resolve the Emerald Grove in the tieflings' favour, convince Rolan and his siblings to stay, rescue vulnerable refugees, and do not allow the grove raid or ritual to wipe out the population. These decisions begin Leave No One Behind.

Free Sazza from the Emerald Grove, protect her in the Goblin Camp, and make sure she survives Minthara's chamber. Her final trophy step takes place in Act 2.

Recruit Scratch and begin the owlbear cub chain. Recruit Karlach, start her romance, and give Dammon the first Infernal Iron upgrade before leaving the act. Let Astarion bite you during his camp scene, feed Gale the required magic items, and learn Shadowheart's preference for night orchids.

Complete the Githyanki Crèche route before advancing too far. Defy Vlaakith, keep Voss alive, and agree to work with him when he visits. Take the Blood of Lathander before leaving Rosymorn Monastery.

Finish the Act 1 boss trophies before moving on:

  1. Destroy the Spider Matriarch's three egg clusters before combat, then kill her for Pest Control.
  2. Craft an Adamantine item for Forged in Blood and Fire.
  3. Kill Grym while it is Superheated without using the Forge Hammer for A Grym Fate.

You should also begin the cumulative trophies now. Read every unique book, dig up buried chests, complete background goals, brew alchemical items, perform for crowds, and work on drunk kills. These counters must be completed within one playthrough.

3

Phase 3: Protect Every Act 2 Trophy Chain

Treat the Shadowfell entrance as Act 2's hard point of no return. Create a permanent save before entering it and finish the following work first.

Protect Isobel at Last Light Inn so the refuge remains standing. Rescue Rolan if he leaves to search for his siblings. Enter Moonrise Towers before the assault and free every prisoner from the lower cells for Under Lock and Key. This step also protects the tiefling chain.

Sazza appears in Ketheric Thorm's audience chamber if she survived Act 1. Choose to release the goblins when their fate is placed in your hands. She Cannot Be Caged! unlocks after this third rescue.

Give Dammon another piece of Infernal Iron at Last Light, continue Karlach's romance, and keep Dammon alive. Give Shadowheart a night orchid for To Bloom in Darkest Night.

When Mizora asks Wyll to rescue an asset, negotiate for his release from the pact and later free Mizora from her pod in the Mind Flayer Colony. The final Loophole decision occurs in Act 3.

Act 2 also has three conditional boss trophies:

  1. Remove Malus Thorm's nurses through dialogue or combat, then kill him before he performs surgery for Non-Invasive Procedure.
  2. Defeat Gerringothe Thorm without allowing her to use gold against you for Penny Pincher. Passing the dialogue checks that make her destroy herself is the safest route.
  3. Kill the Apostle of Myrkul before it consumes a Necromite for No Free Lunches. Eliminate nearby Necromites and burst the boss before another reaches the platform.
4

Phase 4: Finish Act 3, Companion Trophies, and Ending Reloads

Act 3 contains the most concentrated group of missables. Complete companion quests, challenge bosses, and ending preparation before entering the Morphic Pool.

Take Karlach on her Lower City date for Hot Date. Let Wyll break his pact when Mizora presents the final contract choice for Loophole. Follow the Emperor's private scenes and accept the romantic options for Mind Blown.

Become an Unholy Assassin at the Murder Tribunal for Murder in Baldur's Gate. Make a manual save first if you do not want the choice to remain part of your main ending.

Complete the four late boss conditions:

  1. Disable or avoid every trap in Wyrm's Rock, then defeat Gortash there for Fancy Footwork.
  2. Kill Orin while her cultists are still chanting for First Blood.
  3. Lower Ansur's health, wait for him to fly and begin Hoarding Energy, then kill him in the air for Crash Landing.
  4. Kill the dominated red dragon during the final Upper City battle for Interfectorem Draconis.

Before the final sequence, finish Jack-of-all-Trades with an unused hireling or a late recruit who has never been respecced. Take one level in each of the 12 classes. Respeccing other characters does not affect the trophy.

Create a hard save before choosing who becomes a mind flayer and another save before the final Netherbrain command. Use the saves to earn the ending trophies without another full run:

  1. Become a mind flayer and destroy the Netherbrain for Ceremorphosis and Hero of the Forgotten Realms.
  2. Reload and dominate the Netherbrain for Absolute Power Corrupts.
  3. Allow each ending to continue through its epilogue and credits so All's Well That Ends Well registers correctly.
5

Phase 5: Complete a Dark Urge Run on Tactician

Start a new game with the Dark Urge origin and select the named Tactician preset. Never lower the difficulty or convert the campaign to Custom Mode.

This run only needs the story path, the two Dark Urge trophies, Critical Hit, and anything missed earlier. You can skip most optional quests once your party is strong enough to progress safely.

Earn Embrace Your Urge by accepting the Slayer form in Act 2. The direct route is to obey the order involving Isobel. A second route becomes available through the Dark Urge camp sequence if you spare her.

Defeat Orin in the Dark Urge duel, accept Bhaal's gift, and remain his Chosen. At the ending, dominate the Netherbrain in Bhaal's name for Sins of the Father. Completing the campaign without ever lowering Tactician unlocks Critical Hit.

The first run teaches every major encounter, so the second can be much faster. The branching cleanup resembles The Witcher 3's Platinum route, where an early decision can be more dangerous than the final boss.

6

Phase 6: Complete Honour Mode Only for 100%

Foehammer is not required for Pride of Baldur's Gate. It is a separate Gold trophy added with Honour Mode, so you can stop after the Platinum if that is your only goal.

Honour Mode uses a single continuously updated save, stronger boss rules, Legendary Actions, and Tactician-level combat. A full party wipe can convert the campaign to Custom Mode, which lets the story continue but invalidates Foehammer.

An Honour completion also satisfies Critical Hit. You can replace the Tactician Dark Urge run with an Honour Dark Urge run if you want the full 100% and are confident enough to combine both goals.

Guide notes

Missable Trophies in Baldur's Gate 3

Baldur's Gate 3 has no chapter select. A completed quest, dead character, hostile faction, or closed region can permanently remove a trophy opportunity from that save. Manual saves are therefore part of the roadmap, not merely a convenience.

Leave No One Behind

This is the longest missable chain in the base list. Keep the tiefling refugees alive from the Emerald Grove through Last Light and into Act 3.

In Act 1, stop the grove ritual or expose Kagha, resolve the goblin conflict in the refugees' favour, convince Rolan's group to remain, and rescue exposed tieflings such as Arabella and Mirkon. Avoid choices that trigger the grove massacre.

In Act 2, protect Isobel, rescue Rolan from the shadows, and free the Moonrise prisoners before entering the Shadowfell. If Last Light falls or the prison is left until the assault, the chain is usually lost.

The route's dependency on named survivors is similar to The Witcher 3's trophy planning, although Baldur's Gate 3 starts tracking the consequences much earlier.

She Cannot Be Caged!

Sazza must survive three separate locations in one playthrough. Stop Arka from shooting her in the Emerald Grove, free her, and protect her after she introduces you to Minthara. In Act 2, release Sazza and the other goblins when Ketheric asks you to decide their fate at Moonrise Towers.

Save before every Sazza conversation. Killing the goblin leaders without first securing her survival can end the chain without a clear failure message.

Hot Date and Companion Chains

Karlach needs Dammon alive in Acts 1 and 2, both engine upgrades, sufficient approval, and the correct romance scenes before her Act 3 date becomes available. Do not start a conflicting committed romance.

Astarion's bite, Gale's orb stabilization, Shadowheart's night orchid, Wyll's pact, Voss's alliance, Scratch, and the owlbear cub all depend on optional scenes. Long Rest more often than the minimum four rests because camp events can queue behind one another.

Moonrise, Shadowfell, and Act Transitions

Under Lock and Key must be completed before the Moonrise assault. Entering the Shadowfell advances several quests and can remove the prison rescue, Last Light characters, vendors, and companion steps.

Use these permanent save points:

  1. Before leaving Act 1 for the Shadow-Cursed Lands.
  2. Before entering the Shadowfell.
  3. Before resolving Orin and the Murder Tribunal.
  4. Before entering the Morphic Pool.
  5. Before choosing the mind flayer and before the final Netherbrain command.

Boss Condition Trophies

The conditional boss trophies do not have a replay menu. Save immediately before Commander Zhalk, the Spider Matriarch, Grym, Malus Thorm, Gerringothe Thorm, the Apostle of Myrkul, Gortash, Orin, Ansur, and the final red dragon.

Several conditions are lost when the boss uses a specific move. Reload as soon as an egg hatches, Malus performs surgery, Gerringothe uses gold, Myrkul consumes a Necromite, a Gortash trap activates, or Ansur dies while grounded.

Guide notes

Does Difficulty Affect Baldur's Gate 3 Trophies?

Yes. Critical Hit requires a complete Tactician playthrough. Select Tactician when creating a new campaign and do not lower it at any point. A Custom campaign with Tactician-style settings should not be treated as trophy-safe for this requirement.

New Game Plus does not exist. Progress, equipment, and levels do not carry into the second playthrough, so the practical advantage comes from knowing the quests, encounters, and fastest safe route.

Foehammer requires Honour Mode but is not part of the Platinum. Honour is effectively Tactician with stricter rules, one save, and stronger boss mechanics. A failed Honour run can continue in Custom Mode, but it will no longer qualify for Foehammer.

Guide notes

Best Build and General Tips for the Platinum

First-Run Character and Party

A high-Charisma protagonist reduces the chance of failing route-saving checks. Bard is the most convenient option because it combines Persuasion, utility magic, skill expertise, and the Perform action needed for Busker.

Keep a balanced four-character party:

  1. A durable frontliner such as a Fighter, Paladin, Barbarian, or Monk.
  2. A support character with healing, buffs, and control, such as a Cleric or Bard.
  3. An arcane caster with Counterspell and area damage.
  4. A high-Dexterity character for locks, traps, and initiative.

Withers can respec your companions freely without affecting trophies. Jack-of-all-Trades only checks the character receiving one level in every class, so leave one hireling or late recruit untouched for that task.

Tactician and Honour Combat Tips

High initiative is more valuable than raw defence because removing an enemy before its turn prevents more damage than absorbing the attack. Alert is a strong general feat, and Dexterity remains useful even on characters wearing heavy armour.

Use crowd control, Counterspell, Haste, summons, elixirs, weapon coatings, and terrain rather than relying on basic attacks. Inspect enemies before committing resources so you can target weak saving throws and avoid resisted damage types.

Approach each major fight at an appropriate level, Long Rest before bosses, and keep emergency invisibility or mobility available. A surviving character can often flee to camp and revive the party, including in Honour Mode if the entire group has not wiped.

Honour Mode's boss knowledge can feel closer to Elden Ring's trophy challenge than a normal story-led RPG run because one misunderstood mechanic can end many hours of progress.

Trophy Counter Tips

Use a note for Busker gold, Punch Drunk kills, books, and buried chests because the game does not expose every trophy counter clearly.

For Action Surge, use a level 5 Fighter with Extra Attack, Action Surge, and a bonus-action attack. For Kill Two Birds with One Gnome, select Improvised Melee Weapon rather than Throw. For Fists of Fury, land the final blow with the basic Unarmed Strike command.

Do not sell every readable item before opening it. Reading a book is enough, so you can inspect it and leave it behind. For Bottoms Up, select only alcohol when assigning the full supply cost, which is normally 40 on Explorer or Balanced and 80 on Tactician.

Guide notes

Baldur's Gate 3 Boss Trophy Strategies

Act 1 Bosses

For Commander Zhalk, let the mind flayer tank while your party attacks from behind. Command: Drop can remove Zhalk's flaming sword and reduce his threat. Ignore the cambion reinforcements and touch the transponder as soon as Zhalk dies.

For the Spider Matriarch, enter stealth and destroy all three egg clusters before starting combat. Fire arrows, Alchemist's Fire, and ranged attacks work well. Once every cluster is gone, fight the Matriarch normally.

For Grym, keep lava flowing so the Superheated condition remains active. Use bludgeoning weapons, position party members around the arena, and pull Grym between attackers. Never activate the central Forge Hammer during the winning attempt.

Act 2 Bosses

Malus Thorm is easiest when dialogue checks remove his nurses before combat. Once the fight starts, use control and burst damage so he never receives or uses a surgical instrument.

Gerringothe Thorm can be defeated entirely through dialogue. This avoids her gold attack and earns Penny Pincher with the least risk. Save before the conversation because the checks are demanding.

For the Apostle of Myrkul, free Dame Aylin quickly, remove nearby Necromites, and keep the boss under concentrated damage. Do not let a Necromite reach the platform while Myrkul is able to consume it.

Act 3 Bosses

Destroy the Steel Watch Foundry before confronting Gortash. In Wyrm's Rock, disarm or destroy wall devices before they trigger, keep the party away from marked danger areas, and then burst Gortash.

Against Orin, strip her Unstoppable charges with multi-hit spells such as Magic Missile, then focus every attack on her. Do not damage the chanting cultists until First Blood unlocks.

Against Ansur, lower him to a small amount of health without killing him. Protect the party from lightning, wait for him to fly and begin Hoarding Energy, then use your strongest ranged attacks to finish him before he lands.

The dominated red dragon is optional during the final battle. Focus it before entering the Netherbrain portal so Interfectorem Draconis cannot be missed by ending the encounter early.

Guide notes

Online and Co-op Trophy Notes

There are no online trophies, server-dependent tasks, or required co-op actions. Every requirement can be completed offline in a solo campaign.

Cross-play allows PS5 players to join PC, Mac, and Xbox parties, but co-op adds risk to long missable chains. Keep the host as the main dialogue character, agree on route choices before major scenes, and let the same player perform action-specific trophy requirements.

Mods disable trophies. A save created or played with active mods should not be used for the Platinum route, even when the mod is available through the official in-game browser.

Guide notes

Hardest Baldur's Gate 3 Trophies and How to Get Them

Critical Hit

Tactician is the hardest requirement inside the Platinum. Build for initiative and reliable control, avoid unnecessary optional bosses on the second run, and use the knowledge gained from the first campaign. The difficulty is manageable when you enter encounters at the intended level and prepare the correct damage types.

Leave No One Behind

The challenge is tracking, not combat. One dead refugee or missed rescue can invalidate a campaign with little feedback. Use the good-aligned first run, keep Rolan's group in the grove, protect Last Light, and clear Moonrise prison before the Shadowfell.

Crash Landing

Ansur must die during his airborne Hoarding Energy phase. Lower him carefully, stop attacking before the next flight, protect the party with lightning resistance or Globe of Invulnerability, and then unload ranged damage while he is in the air.

Foehammer

Foehammer is the hardest trophy in the full 100% set, but it is not required for the Platinum. Learn boss Legendary Actions before each encounter, keep escape tools ready, and do not take optional fights unless their rewards materially improve the build.

The optional Honour trophy pushes full completion toward the hardest PlayStation trophy sets, while the base Platinum remains achievable through a normal Tactician run with manual saves.

Guide notes

Baldur's Gate 3 DLC and Extra Trophies

Baldur's Gate 3 has one trophy outside the original Platinum list. Foehammer was added with Honour Mode and asks you to complete an Honour campaign.

Foehammer is classified separately from the base list on PlayStation. You need it for a displayed 100% completion rate, but Pride of Baldur's Gate still unlocks after the original 53 non-Platinum trophies.

There are no conventional story-expansion trophy packs required for the Platinum.

Quick answers

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to Platinum Baldur's Gate 3?

Expect 150-200 hours across two playthroughs. A heavily optimized route can be faster, while exploration and blind decisions can push the total well beyond 200 hours.

How hard is the Baldur's Gate 3 Platinum?

The Platinum is about 7/10. Tactician demands solid combat knowledge, while the longer challenge is protecting missable quest chains across all three acts.

How many trophies are in Baldur's Gate 3 on PS5?

There are 55 trophies: 47 Bronze, 4 Silver, 3 Gold, and 1 Platinum. Foehammer is the extra Gold trophy outside the Platinum requirement.

Are there missable trophies in Baldur's Gate 3?

Yes. Most of the list can be missed through story choices, dead characters, closed regions, or failed boss conditions. Manual saves are essential.

Does difficulty affect trophies in Baldur's Gate 3?

Yes. Critical Hit requires Tactician, while the optional Foehammer trophy requires Honour Mode.

Is Honour Mode required for the Baldur's Gate 3 Platinum?

No. Foehammer is required for 100% completion but not for Pride of Baldur's Gate.

How many playthroughs are needed for the Baldur's Gate 3 Platinum?

One playthrough is technically possible with a carefully planned Tactician Dark Urge route and extensive reloads. You must knock Alfira unconscious before the forced Act 1 Dark Urge camp scene, preserve the tiefling chain, and reload the Act 3 Bhaal and ending choices. Two playthroughs are much safer.

Can ending trophies be earned with save reloads?

Yes. Keep saves before the mind flayer choice and final Netherbrain command, then complete each ending fully before reloading.

Do mods disable Baldur's Gate 3 trophies on PS5?

Yes. Trophies are disabled while mods are active, including supported mods from the console browser.

Are there online trophies in Baldur's Gate 3?

No. Multiplayer and cross-play are optional, and the entire trophy list can be completed solo.

Does Baldur's Gate 3 have New Game Plus?

No. Each Tactician or Honour attempt begins with a new character, empty inventory, and fresh quest state.

Baldur's Gate 3 becomes manageable when the heroic missables, Dark Urge requirements, Tactician completion, and ending reloads are treated as separate jobs. Players who prefer account-specific support for the remaining list can use DamnModz PlayStation trophy services while the roadmap above covers the complete path from the Nautiloid to Pride of Baldur's Gate.
