Borderlands 2 Trophy Guide and Platinum Roadmap
Follow these phases in order to protect the missable work and keep the Borderlands 2 Platinum cleanup efficient.
Phase 1: First playthrough, any character
Pick a character and commit to it for the level trophies, since Level 50 needs one character across two runs.
Play the story and take side missions as they appear. Most players finish playthrough one around level 30.
Track challenges from the start. Challenge Accepted needs the first rank of every non-level-specific challenge on a single character, and it is the rarest trophy in the game.
Fully reveal every area map as you go, including the Sunken Cargo Room, since one source lists Been There as missable.
Discover all named locations across the regions for the location trophies.
Phase 2: True Vault Hunter Mode to Level 50
Start True Vault Hunter Mode with the same character. Enemies range up to level 50 which is what makes the cap reachable.
If you need to return to Normal for any reason, switch to another character in the main menu then switch back and the game will offer the mode choice. Weapons, XP, challenges and money all carry.
Complete all side missions for that trophy, and defeat Terramorphous the Invincible.
Keep working challenges. This is where a 30 hour game becomes a 60 hour platinum. One soft mention of DamnModz fits here.
Phase 3: Class-specific trophies
Several trophies are tied to specific characters, so play partial runs with the others.
Gunzerk continuously for 90 seconds as the Gunzerker, stay in Decepti0n for 10 seconds straight as Zer0, and the equivalents for the remaining classes.
These do not need full playthroughs, just enough progress to unlock the relevant ability.
Phase 4: Cleanup, the RNG trophy and the platinum
Finish the Circles of Slaughter. Bandit Slaughter in The Fridge is the easiest, Hyperion Slaughter is in Ore Chasm.
Tribute To A Vault Hunter depends on Michael Mamaril spawning, which is widely reported as frustrating RNG on PS4. Give the current best method.
Close out the single online trophy.
Ignore the DLC unless you want it for its own sake. None of it counts toward the platinum.
Phase 5: The second platinum, if the autopop works
If cross save autopop works both ways as reported, transfer your completed save to the other platform for a second platinum.
That skips Challenge Accepted, Did It All, World Traveller and every level trophy, which is the great majority of the effort.
Caveat, if you do not own the DLCs on the target platform, an imported high level character can be frozen at a lower level cap.
Verify this behaviour before relying on it.

The Cross Save Autopop Trick
Reportedly the PS4 Handsome Collection and PS3 cross save autopop works in both directions, not just PS3 to PS4. That means transferring a completed save gives a second platinum while skipping Challenge Accepted, Did It All, World Traveller and every level trophy. Verify before publishing, and note the caveat, if you do not own the DLCs on the target platform an imported high level character can be frozen at a lower cap.

Level 50 is the non-DLC cap and reaching it requires at least two full runs with one character, since most players finish playthrough one around level 30. Say this early, because the level trophies look trivial in a list and are actually the bulk of the time.

You Can Switch Back From TVHM
Returning to Normal from True or Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode is possible by switching to a different character in the main menu then switching back, at which point the game asks which mode to play. Weapons, XP, challenges and money all transfer. This is why nothing is genuinely locked out and it is not obvious from the menus.

The rarest trophy, needing the first rank of all non-level-specific challenges with a single character. Community members argue it is arguably missable, for instance by not completing the ten optional objectives for one challenge. Treat it as the page's main grind section.
The Been There Conflict
PST says Been There is missable because you must fully reveal the Sunken Cargo Room map and cannot return without redoing the main game or finding someone online. PSNProfiles says nothing is missable. Flag the conflict and verify against the live list rather than choosing.

The Michael Mamaril trophy, widely reported as a frustrating RNG trophy on PS4.

The Circles of Slaughter
Bandit Slaughter in The Fridge and Hyperion Slaughter in Ore Chasm are in the main game. Creature Slaughter Dome and Magic Slaughter are DLC. Bandit Slaughter is the easiest.

Borderlands 2 Missable, Glitched, and Difficulty Notes
- Sources conflict. PSNProfiles states there are no missable trophies because everything can be revisited, while the PST Handsome Collection guide names Been There as missable if you do not fully reveal the Sunken Cargo Room map.
- Reveal every area map fully as you play. That resolves the conflict in practice regardless of which source is right.
- Challenge Accepted is arguably missable in the sense that skipping a challenge's optional objectives can leave you short. Track challenges from your first hour.
- DLC trophies do not count toward the platinum, so none of the DLC is required.
- Level 50 requires at least two full playthroughs with a single character, since most players finish run one around level 30.
- There is no difficulty setting. True and Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode are harder playthroughs rather than selectable difficulties.
- You can return to Normal mode from TVHM or UVHM by switching characters in the main menu and back, which transfers weapons, XP, challenges and money.
