Efficient route

Dishonored Trophy Guide and Platinum Roadmap

Follow these phases in order to protect the missable work and keep the Dishonored Platinum cleanup efficient.

1

Phase 0: Three rules before you start

Mission replay does not carry your stats over, including collectibles, so the collectible trophies must be done in one continuous run.

Never rewire a Wall of Light if you are going for Clean Hands or Ghost, because its kills count as yours.

Play on Easy. There are no difficulty-related trophies at all.

Plan to check your Don't Kill Anyone and Ghost blocks plus your chaos level at the end of every single chapter.

2

Phase 1: The stacked low chaos run

Stack Ghost, Clean Hands and Mostly Flesh and Steel on one playthrough. Kill nobody and never be detected.

For Mostly Flesh and Steel use only Blink, do not upgrade it and buy no other powers. Weapon upgrades and Bone Charms are still allowed.

Save constantly and reload whenever you are spotted. Use manual saves rather than trusting autosaves.

Invest runes in Dark Vision II early, which helps both the stealth and the collectible hunting.

Collect all 11 paintings for Art Dealer this run, and complete all of Granny Rags's quests at the start of mission 2 or the 11th is lost.

Verify your blocks at the end of each chapter and replay that chapter immediately if something slipped.

3

Phase 2: The ending and Emily

In Low Chaos, take the key to Emily's room from the end table near Havelock and open her door.

If you are on a High Chaos run instead, Havelock takes her to the lighthouse top and she ends up clinging to the ledge.

Pull her to safety. If you do nothing she falls and the credits roll, losing the trophy.

This is the run where the platinum is decided. One soft mention of DamnModz fits here.

4

Phase 3: The high chaos run

Play through again violently for the high chaos trophies, including Dunwall in Chaos and the kill-based ones.

Remember the assassination rules. There must be an assassination animation unless it is a one-shot crossbow kill or a silent springrazor kill. Gunshots, counter-kills and slashing an aware enemy do not count, but drop assassinations do.

Take the enemy-manipulation trophies here, since any enemy with a ranged attack can be made to kill their allies, easiest and earliest in Coldridge Prison during mission 1.

5

Phase 4: Mission replays and the coin run

Use mission replay only for trophies that are self-contained within a single mission, since cumulative stats do not carry.

Attempt Enough Coins to Disappear if it is outstanding. With only 10,705 coins in the game there is almost no margin, so buy nothing.

Finish Occultist, remembering DLC Bone Charms do count toward it.

If the PS3 and PS4 lists both interest you, they are separate and stack.

Guide notes

Mission Replay Does Not Carry Your Stats

First section after the Quick Info box. They are not, because the stats do not carry over, including things you collected. Replaying a mission to pick up a missed painting or rune does not credit it toward the cumulative trophy. That is the reason so many trophies here are classed as missable despite replay existing, and it means the collectible trophies must be completed inside one continuous playthrough.

Guide notes

Rewired Walls of Light Count as Your Kills

The single most damaging trap. Rewiring a Wall of Light so it kills guards instead of you reads as the clever non-lethal solution. It is not. Characters killed by a Wall of Light you have rewired count as your kills, which voids both Clean Hands and Ghost. A player doing a careful pacifist run can lose it here with no indication at all until they check their end-of-chapter stats.

Guide notes

Verify Your Blocks Every Chapter

The habit that saves the run. At the end of each chapter, check that your Don't Kill Anyone and Ghost, meaning Never Detected, blocks are both ticked and that your overall chaos level is low. If a mistake has crept in you will need to replay that chapter, and catching it one chapter later is far cheaper than discovering it at the end of the game. Play on Easy to avoid unnecessary frustration, especially in the final chapter, and abuse the save option throughout.

Guide notes

The Emily Trophy Depends on Chaos

Two entirely different scenarios. In Low Chaos, during the last mission you simply take the key to her room from the end table near Havelock and open her door to end the game. In High Chaos, Havelock takes her as a human shield to the top of the lighthouse. After you either deal with him or let him jump, Emily is left clinging to the ledge, and if you do nothing she eventually falls and the credits roll. You must pull her to safety for the trophy. PSNProfiles adds that in high chaos you can sneak beneath the bridge to reach Havelock, but he may grab her, so be ready.

Guide notes

Art Dealer Has a Hidden Prerequisite

Eleven paintings, all required in a single playthrough. The catch is that the 11th becomes missable if you have not completed all of Granny Rags's quests at the start of mission 2. Mission 1 contains none. Mission 2 has one, in the overseer's hidden room. Mission 3 has three, inside the art dealer's house, one on the second floor where the thugs are staring and another on the third floor behind a door visible on your right as you arrive. Publish the full list with the Granny Rags dependency attached.

Efficient route

Enough Coins to Disappear Is the Tightest Trophy

There are only 10,705 coins in the entire game, which leaves very little room for error and means you cannot afford to buy supplies during that run. If you attempt it, invest your runes in Dark Vision II as early as possible so you can find everything efficiently. A fixed total with almost no margin is a very different proposition from an ordinary collectible trophy.

1

What Counts as an Assassination

For the kill-based trophies there must be an assassination animation for each kill, unless you kill in one shot with the crossbow or silently with a springrazor. Gunshot kills do not count, counter-kills do not count, and slashing at an aware enemy does not count. Drop assassinations do count.

2

Mostly Flesh and Steel

Use only Blink, do not upgrade it and do not buy any other powers or enhancements. Stack it with Ghost and Clean Hands on the same low chaos run.

3

The Glitch Conflict

Sources disagree. Xbox Achievements names Ghost, Shadow and Clean Hands as glitchy, while PlayStationTrophies says none are glitched but warns that autosaves can be unreliable. Given those are the three trophies the whole run is built around, publish both positions and recommend manual saves rather than relying on autosaves.

4

DLC Bone Charms Count

There are no traditional cheat codes in Dishonored.

Guide notes

The Editions and the Sequels

The PS3 original and the PS4 Definitive Edition carry separate lists and stack, with one guide author confirming three platinums across them. Dishonored 2, Death of the Outsider and Deathloop are all separate games from the same studio and all viable builds. Disambiguate and cross-link.

Guide notes

Dishonored Missable, Glitched, and Difficulty Notes

  • Many trophies are missable because mission replay does not carry your stats over, including things you collected.
  • Characters killed by a Wall of Light you have rewired count as YOUR kills and void both Clean Hands and Ghost.
  • Check your Don't Kill Anyone and Ghost blocks plus your chaos level at the end of every chapter, and replay the chapter if a mistake crept in.
  • The Emily trophy is lost by inaction in High Chaos. She ends up clinging to the ledge and will fall if you do nothing, so pull her to safety.
  • Art Dealer needs all 11 paintings in a single playthrough, and the 11th becomes missable if you have not done all of Granny Rags's quests at the start of mission 2.
  • Enough Coins to Disappear is the tightest trophy, since there are only 10,705 coins in the whole game and you cannot afford to buy supplies.
  • For kill trophies there must be an assassination animation, unless it is a one-shot crossbow kill or a silent springrazor kill. Gunshots, counter-kills and slashing an aware enemy do not count. Drop assassinations do.
  • Mostly Flesh and Steel allows weapon upgrades and Bone Charms. Only powers other than un-upgraded Blink are forbidden.
  • Sources conflict on glitched trophies. One names Ghost, Shadow and Clean Hands, another says none but warns autosaves are unreliable, so use manual saves.
  • DLC Bone Charms do count toward the Occultist trophy.
  • There are no difficulty-related trophies, so play on Easy throughout.

Quick answers

Frequently Asked Questions

Does mission replay help with Dishonored trophies?

Only for trophies contained within a single mission. Your stats do not carry over from replays, including things you collected, so the cumulative collectible trophies must be done in one continuous playthrough.

Do rewired Walls of Light void Clean Hands?

Yes, and this is the most common way the run is lost. Characters killed by a Wall of Light you have rewired count as your own kills, voiding both Clean Hands and Ghost.

How do you save Emily in Dishonored?

In Low Chaos, take the key from the end table near Havelock and open her door. In High Chaos she ends up clinging to the lighthouse ledge, and if you do nothing she falls, so you must pull her to safety.

Why can't I get all 11 paintings in Dishonored?

The 11th becomes missable if you have not completed all of Granny Rags's quests at the start of mission 2. All 11 also have to be collected within a single playthrough.

How many coins are in Dishonored?

10,705 in total, which is why Enough Coins to Disappear is the tightest trophy on the list. There is almost no margin for error and you cannot afford to buy supplies on that run.

What counts as an assassination in Dishonored?

There must be an assassination animation, unless you kill in one shot with the crossbow or silently with a springrazor. Gunshots, counter-kills and slashing aware enemies do not count, but drop assassinations do.

Does difficulty affect Dishonored trophies?

No, not at all. There are no difficulty-related trophies, so play on Easy to avoid unnecessary frustration, particularly in the final chapter.

Do Dishonored trophies stack on PS3 and PS4?

Yes. The original on PS3 and the Definitive Edition on PS4 carry separate lists, so both platinums can be earned.
