Stray Trophy Guide and Platinum Roadmap
Follow these phases in order to protect the missable work and keep the Stray Platinum cleanup efficient.
Phase 0: Two things to know before you start
The speedrun must be started from an empty save slot. Restarting chapter one from a cleared save via chapter select does not count.
Productive Day needs a real hour of sleeping, so plan it for your collectibles run and never the speedrun.
Chapter select covers everything except the speedrun, so nothing else on this list is truly missable.
There are no difficulty settings, so the experience is the same for everyone.
Phase 1: A relaxed collectibles playthrough
Play through at your own pace, exploring properly. This is the run that teaches you the routes for the speedrun later.
Bring all the music sheets to Morusque, gather all B-12 memories, collect all the badges and scratch in every chapter.
Sleep next to Morusque for a real hour to get Productive Day, leaving the console running with no input needed.
In Midtown, pick up the vinyl record from a nightclub table, place it on the turntable at the music stage and scratch it.
Complete the Sewers chapter without killing any Zurks, meaning never use your weapon and simply run.
In the Dead City, let a Zurk attach and take the death screen nine times for Cat-a-strophe.
Phase 2: Chapter select cleanup
Use chapter select from the main menu when loading your save to pick up anything you missed.
Everything except the speedrun is recoverable here, so there is no pressure to be thorough first time.
Check the jump count and grind it out if you are somehow short of 500.
Refresh yourself on the door codes and puzzle solutions before the speedrun, since knowing them is what makes two hours comfortable.
Phase 3: The speedrun
Start a NEW GAME from an empty save slot. This is the requirement most readers get wrong.
Ignore all side content and head straight through. Documented runs land between roughly 1:30 and 1:51 against a 2 hour limit.
Avoid dying, because checkpoint restarts count toward your real time even when you are repeating a cleared section.
Cutscenes and conversations count too, so skip whatever the game allows you to skip.
One soft mention of DamnModz fits here at most, given the low overall difficulty.
Phase 4: The other stacks, if you want them
There is no save transfer or autopop, so PS4, PS5 and the regional PS4 versions each need every trophy earned again.
Now that you know the game, you can combine the speedrun with all collectibles in a single under-2-hour playthrough.
That route needs knowledge of the level layouts and collectible paths, which is why it only works from your second platinum onwards.
Guide notes
The Speedrun Needs an Empty Save Slot
First section after the Quick Info box. They cannot. To unlock I am Speed you must start a new game from an empty slot rather than restarting via the chapter select menu of an already cleared save file.
Guide notes
How the Timer Actually Works
The measurement is real time rather than the in-game clock, and one documented run showed an in-game reading of 1:46:46 against a different real figure. Loading times appear not to be included, but cutscenes, conversations and checkpoint restarts almost certainly are. That last point is the strategic one, because dying and restarting from a checkpoint costs you clock time even though you are only repeating a section you already cleared. Avoid deaths rather than treating them as free retries.
Guide notes
Do Productive Day on the Wrong Run
It requires sleeping for more than one hour, and that is a real hour of wall clock time rather than an in-game hour. Obviously that cannot happen during a two hour speedrun. Do it on your collectibles playthrough, sleeping next to Morusque, the robot you bring the music sheets to in the Slums, and simply leave the console running for an hour with no button presses required. If you somehow reach the speedrun still needing it, you can do it afterwards in chapter four.
Guide notes
Two Hours Is More Generous Than It Sounds
A typical playthrough takes around five hours, but that includes exploration and side content the speedrun does not need. Documented runs land between roughly one hour thirty and one hour fifty-one, with one published run at 1:35:40. So the limit has real headroom for anyone who has finished the game once and knows the door codes and puzzle solutions.
Efficient route
Every Stack Means Starting Over
There is no save transfer and no autopop between PS4 and PS5, and the regional PS4 versions such as EU, US and Asia count as separate stacks as well, so every trophy has to be earned again on each. The mitigation is that once you know the game you can combine the speedrun with all the collectibles in a single playthrough under two hours. That is only realistic from your second platinum onwards, since it requires knowing the level layouts and collectible routes already.
Cat-a-strophe, Deliberately
Nine deaths required, and the efficient method is a loop rather than bad luck. In the Dead City, let a Zurk attach itself to you and do not hit it, take the death screen, click try again, and repeat nine times. Quick and entirely controlled.
The Sewers Without Killing
A gold trophy for completing the Sewers chapter without killing any Zurks, which means never using your weapon at all and simply running.
Efficient route
The Collectible Sets
Bring all the music sheets to Morusque, gather all B-12 memories, collect all the badges, and scratch in every chapter.
Boom Chat Kalaka
During the Midtown chapter, enter the nightclub, pick up the vinyl record from one of the tables, take it to the music stage, place it on the turntable and scratch it.
Jump 500 Times
There is no dedicated jump button. You approach a surface you can jump to and press the interact button. You will very likely reach 500 naturally during a full playthrough, and if not it can be ground out afterwards, so there is no need to count.

Quick answers
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you use chapter select for the Stray speedrun?
No. I am Speed requires starting a new game from an empty save slot. Restarting chapter one via chapter select on an already cleared save will not unlock it, even if you finish in time.
Does the Stray speedrun timer count loading and cutscenes?
It measures real time. Loading appears not to count, but cutscenes, conversations and checkpoint restarts do, which is why dying costs you clock even when repeating a cleared section.
How long is the Stray speedrun really?
Comfortable once you know the game. A typical playthrough is around 5 hours, but documented speedruns land between roughly 1 hour 30 and 1 hour 51 against a 2 hour limit.
Is the Stray sleep trophy a real hour?
Yes, a real hour rather than an in-game one. Sleep next to Morusque and leave the console running with no button presses. Do it on your collectibles run, never during the speedrun.
Do Stray trophies autopop between PS4 and PS5?
No. There is no save transfer and no autopop, and the regional PS4 versions count as separate stacks too, so every trophy must be earned again on each.
Can you get the Stray platinum in one playthrough?
Technically yes, by combining the speedrun with all collectibles under 2 hours, but that requires already knowing the level layouts and collectible routes, so it is realistic only from your second platinum onwards.
How do you get nine deaths in Stray?
Deliberately, in the Dead City. Let a Zurk attach itself to you without hitting it, take the death screen, click try again and repeat nine times. It is entirely controlled.
Are there missable trophies in Stray?
Just the speedrun. Chapter select recovers everything else, so you can play your first run however you like and clean up afterwards.
