Efficient route

Persona 4 Golden Trophy Guide and Platinum Roadmap

Follow these phases in order to protect the missable work and keep the Persona 4 Golden Platinum cleanup efficient.

1

Phase 0: Understand the two gates

You must finish playthrough one on the True Ending path, or the playthrough two trophies become unreachable without a third run.

Welcome Back needs Aeon maxed before you secure Adachi, then a dialogue chain on 2 January, then a dungeon on 13 February only.

Only five trophies are of real concern despite almost everything technically being missable.

Back up your saves periodically. A social link reset bug has been reported on long saves.

2

Phase 1: First playthrough, dates and the True Ending

Prioritise the Aeon Social Link so it is maxed before you secure Adachi.

Take Poly-land on 15 or 17 July, remembering it will not trigger if the Strength link is already maxed or Kou is at rank 5 or 6.

Do not start reading books until 4 August, when the speed reading book doubles your rate. Finish every book you start.

Work Hardcore Risette Fan continuously while grinding, asking Rise for advice and rotating party members.

On 2 January visit the Velvet Room and follow the Marie dialogue chain, then complete her dungeon on 13 February.

Finish on the True Ending path, taking Breaking Through the Fog and The Truth In Your Hands.

3

Phase 2: New Game Plus, tuned to taste

Load your clear save. New Game Plus carries play time, Yen, the Compendium, persona slots, key items and social stats.

Set a custom difficulty by adjusting EXP, Yen, damage output and damage taken, since this run is largely cleanup.

Max all social links for Legend of Inaba, which is far easier now that social stats carry over.

Defeat Margaret for One Who Has Proven Their Power, the rarest trophy at 6.7 percent and second playthrough only.

This is where the platinum becomes a long grind. One soft mention of DamnModz fits here.

4

Phase 3: The completion trophies

Complete the Persona Compendium for Thorough Bookkeeper and register 100 skill cards for Card Collector.

Max out all social qualities, finish Aiya's special dish and clear the fishing and bug hunting content.

Win the TV Listings quiz across three rounds for A New Quiz King, noting the final round only unlocks after defeating Adachi.

Verify whether a third playthrough is genuinely required for any quiz trophy before committing to one.

Guide notes

End Playthrough One on the True Ending Path

First section after the Quick Info box. Several trophies can only be unlocked during a second playthrough, and reaching them requires that your first playthrough finished on the True Ending path. The trophies that confirm it are Breaking Through the Fog and The Truth In Your Hands, with the latter triggering the final dungeon. Get this wrong and you have added an entire 75 hour playthrough to the platinum, which is the most expensive mistake available on this list.

Guide notes

Welcome Back Is the Hardest to Schedule

It needs three separate things aligned. The Aeon Social Link must be at max before you secure Adachi, or you must try again on another playthrough entirely. Then on 2 January, enter the Velvet Room where Margaret tells you Marie has left, and answer with 'Why did she leave?', 'Where did she go?', and 'I don't care about danger, I'll go!'. That unlocks a dungeon accessible only on 13 February, and if you do not complete it that day the trophy is gone. Publish it as a dated checklist.

Guide notes

Only Five Missables Actually Matter

Technically almost every non-story trophy in the game is missable, and one guide simply says 'A lot!'. Everything else resolves through ordinary play.

Guide notes

Do Not Start Reading Until 4 August

The efficiency insight is that you should not begin reading until 4 August, when the speed reading book becomes available and lets you read two chapters at a time. Until then, spend that time on social links instead. Note that it is oddly only a bronze trophy despite being missable and time-consuming.

Guide notes

Hardcore Risette Fan

Hear 250 different lines from Rise. Keep asking her for advice while level grinding, and switch between party members since her lines vary by situation, covering enemy counts and status callouts. Maxing her social link helps because she then analyses enemies automatically. The community maintains a shared spreadsheet for tracking which lines you have heard, which is the practical way to manage it.

Efficient route

New Game Plus Has a Custom Difficulty

Often overlooked. New Game Plus carries over your play time, Yen, Persona Compendium, persona slots, key items from Max Social Link events and your social stats. It also lets you set a custom difficulty by adjusting EXP earned, Yen earned, damage output and damage taken independently. That means the second run can be tuned to be as fast as you like, which matters when it is largely a cleanup run.

1

Poly-land Is a Two Day Window

A Strength Social Link event available on 15 or 17 July only. It does not happen if the social link is already maxed, or if Kou is at rank 5 or 6 at that point. Two conditions plus a two day window makes it one of the easiest things to lose without noticing.

Efficient route

Margaret and the Quiz

One Who Has Proven Their Power, defeating Margaret, is second playthrough only and sits at 6.7 percent. A New Quiz King uses the TV Listings option from the title screen, needs three rounds, and the final round only unlocks after defeating Adachi. One source claims a third playthrough is required for a quiz trophy, so verify that before publishing a playthrough count.

1

Leave Social Links to Playthrough Two

Because social stats carry over into New Game Plus, maxing all social links for Legend of Inaba is far easier on the second run. Recommend prioritising the True Ending path and the date-gated trophies on run one, then the social link sweep on run two.

2

The Reported Social Link Reset Bug

At least one player reported a social link resetting to rank 0 more than 60 hours into a save, apparently following a crash. On PC that was recoverable through save editing, which is not an option on console. Recommend regular save backups as cheap insurance on a 100 hour game.

3

Not Persona 5 Royal

Our Persona 5 Royal brief and the live Persona 5 page cover different games with far larger trophy lists. Disambiguate briefly and cross-link, since the audience overlap is close to total.

Guide notes

Persona 4 Golden Missable, Glitched, and Difficulty Notes

  • You must finish playthrough one on the True Ending path, since several trophies can only be unlocked on playthrough two and require it.
  • Technically almost every non-story trophy is missable, but only five are of real concern, Welcome Back, Hardcore Risette Fan, Fill Your Hand, Compulsive Reader and Legend of Inaba.
  • Welcome Back requires the Aeon Social Link maxed before securing Adachi, a specific dialogue chain in the Velvet Room on 2 January, and completing a dungeon available only on 13 February.
  • Compulsive Reader requires you to finish reading every book. An incomplete book does not count, and the speed reading book arrives on 4 August.
  • Poly-land, a Strength Social Link event, is available on 15 or 17 July only, and will not trigger if that link is maxed or if Kou is at rank 5 or 6.
  • Hardcore Risette Fan needs 250 different lines from Rise, best worked continuously while grinding and tracked with a community spreadsheet.
  • One Who Has Proven Their Power, defeating Margaret, is second playthrough only and sits at 6.7 percent.
  • A New Quiz King has a final round that only unlocks after defeating Adachi. One source claims a third playthrough is required, so verify.
  • New Game Plus carries social stats, so leaving the full social link sweep to run two is far easier.
  • A social link reset bug has been reported after a crash on a long save, so back up saves periodically.
