Silent Hill 2 Remake Trophy Guide and Platinum Walkthrough

Difficulty: Around 3 out of 10 with a guide. Community votes suggest closer to 6 without one. Time: Around 20 to 30 hours. Minimum route: Roughly 2, thanks to the ending reload method. Not six, despite what some guides claim. Missables: Around 20. Practically every non-automatic trophy, because there is no backtracking once you leave an area.

This roadmap puts the run order, cleanup rules, and full trophy list in one place. For another route with similar planning pressure, use the Silent Hill f trophy guide.

Efficient route

Silent Hill 2 Remake Trophy Guide and Platinum Roadmap

Follow these phases in order to protect the missable work and keep cleanup efficient for Silent Hill 2 Remake.

1

Phase 1: First run, all collectibles and a guide

Play with a collectible guide open and sweep every area before leaving it, since there is no way back. Complete all 68 Memos, 26 Strange Photos and 26 Glimpses in this single run.

Play on the Light preset if you only want trophies. Nothing is difficulty-gated.

Keep a manual save late in the game before the ending split.

2

Phase 2: Endings via profile-save reloads

Reload your late manual save repeatedly to collect the original endings. They record to the profile save, so you do not need a fresh playthrough for each one.

3

Phase 3: New Game Plus and condition runs

Start New Game Plus for that trophy, and use the chainsaw to make the weapon requirements easy.

Fold the condition runs in here, under 10 hours, no radio (switch it off the instant you get it) and no ranged weapon kills.

4

Phase 4: Platinum

Mop up the remaining interaction and combat count trophies. The platinum unlocks with the last one.

Guide notes

The Ending Reload Method

Endings are recorded on the overall profile save rather than a manual slot, so you can reload a late manual save and take several endings in one playthrough.

  • The 6 original endings are required. The 2 new remake endings are not needed. Use the profile-save reload method rather than replaying the game six times.

Efficient route

The 20 Missable Trophies

Around 20 trophies are missable. Track the three collectible sets, interaction and combat counters, and the condition runs separately, then finish each area before crossing its point of no return.

  • Around 20 trophies are missable, which is practically everything not awarded automatically by the story.
1

Three collectible sets

Complete all 68 Memos, 26 Strange Photos, and 26 Glimpses of the Past in one playthrough. Partial sets do not merge through New Game Plus.

2

Interaction and combat counters

Advance the required interactions and combat actions throughout the route, then verify the counter before the final areas. There is no chapter select for a missed action.

3

Condition runs

Combine the under-10-hour, no-radio, and no-ranged-weapon-kill trophies in a guided run. Keep it separate from the slower collectible save.

Guide notes

Points of No Return

There is no backtracking, chapter select or post-story free roam. Finish the current area's collectibles and counters before every major transition because a closed area cannot be revisited on that save.

Guide notes

Collectibles in One Run

Collect all 68 Memos, 26 Strange Photos and 26 Glimpses of the Past within a single playthrough. None of these sets carries into New Game Plus, so verify the current area before moving forward.

Guide notes

The Condition Runs

Combine the under-10-hour, no-radio and no-ranged-weapon-kill requirements in a guided second run. Switch the radio off immediately when it enters the inventory, before the nearby enemy can register.

Guide notes

Does Difficulty Affect Trophies

No. Unlike the recent Resident Evil remakes, nothing here is difficulty-tied, so the Light preset is fine for both combat and puzzles.

Guide notes

New Game Plus

One trophy needs a New Game Plus completion. NG Plus also grants the chainsaw early, which makes the weapon and melee requirements trivial.

  • All three collectible sets must each be completed within a single playthrough, and none of them carry into New Game Plus.

Efficient route

Silent Hill 2 Remake Platinum Strategy

Use these checkpoints alongside the roadmap to keep the Silent Hill 2 Remake trophy route on schedule and protect the high-risk requirements.

1

Use the profile save to reduce ending runs

Ending completion is recorded on the overall profile rather than only inside one manual slot. Keep a late manual save before the ending conditions become final, finish one ending, confirm it on the profile, then restore the save and change the remaining requirements for another ending. The six original endings are required, while the two new remake endings are not part of the platinum route.

This method is why the common six-playthrough claim is misleading. Several endings can be collected from one prepared run, but the profile must record each result before the next reload. Do not overwrite the late save until every supported ending has synced. A separate New Game Plus completion is still required for its own trophy and access to the chainsaw.

2

Sweep every area before its point of no return

There is no backtracking, chapter select, or post-story free roam. Around 20 trophies are missable, including the three collectible sets, interaction and combat counters, and the condition runs. Treat every major transition as a permanent exit and compare the current area against the checklist before opening the next route.

All 68 Memos, 26 Strange Photos, and 26 Glimpses of the Past must each be completed within one playthrough. None of those sets carries into New Game Plus. Check the collection count before leaving an area, keep rotating manual saves, and reload immediately when an item is missing rather than assuming the next run will merge the partial set.

3

Combine the condition trophies into one guided run

The under-10-hour, no-radio, and no-ranged-weapon-kill requirements fit together in a planned second run. Switch the radio off as soon as it enters the inventory, before the nearby enemy can register. Use melee throughout, skip optional exploration that is not required by another trophy, and follow a direct route between the ending conditions supported by the late save.

Combat and puzzle difficulty can both stay on Light because no trophy is tied to a harder setting. New Game Plus provides the chainsaw early, making the melee and weapon requirements easier. Keep the speed and condition save separate from the collectible run so a repair attempt never overwrites the clean route needed for the ending reload method.

4

Maintain three protected save purposes

Keep one save family for the complete collectible run, one for the late ending reload method, and one for the guided condition run. The collectible family protects area checkpoints before each point of no return. The ending family remains untouched until every supported profile ending has synced. The condition family preserves the no-radio, melee-only, and under-10-hour route. Separating them prevents an ending experiment from destroying the only save that can repair a missed Memo or Strange Photo.

5

Keep the radio check visible

After loading the condition-run save, verify in the inventory that the radio remains switched off before approaching another enemy. Repeat the check after any reload made near the first radio pickup.

6

Verify the profile after each ending

Return to the profile trophy list after every reload-based ending and confirm the unlock before restoring the late save again. If the result has not synced, keep the completed ending save and reopen it before changing conditions. This prevents one of the six required original endings from disappearing inside a sequence of fast reloads.

7

Use area exits as mandatory audit stops

Before every transition, pause and compare the save against the Memo, Strange Photo, and Glimpse counts expected for that location. Then check any interaction or combat counter that can still be advanced in the current area. If the total is wrong, load the newest safe slot before crossing the exit. This habit is the practical answer to a game with no chapter select and almost no recovery after an area closes.

Keep at least two rotating saves inside each long area. One protects the entry state and the other tracks current progress. If a collectible or ending action proves incorrect later, the entry save preserves a repair path without restarting the full game. Do not use either slot for experimental ending reloads until the collectible set and condition run have their own completed saves.

After the sixth required original ending records on the profile, complete the New Game Plus trophy and use the chainsaw for any remaining melee or weapon requirement. The two new remake endings can be attempted for profile completion, but they do not need to delay the platinum audit.
