Monster Hunter World Trophy Guide and Platinum Walkthrough

Monster Hunter World is a 4/10 Platinum that usually takes at least 250 hours, has no missable trophies, and is dominated by 56 miniature and gold giant crown records across 28 launch monsters.

This Monster Hunter World trophy guide contains story trophy names and light monster spoilers. Online features were still available on PlayStation in July 2026, although multiplayer requires PlayStation Plus. The wider PlayStation trophy guide collection includes harder combat challenges, but few Platinum runs depend as heavily on random size records.

Monster Hunter World Platinum Roadmap

1

Phase 1: Complete the Story and Start Every Long-Term Counter

Finish the Assigned questline through the final base-game boss. There is no difficulty setting, no route choice, and no missable story trophy. Use the weapon class you understand best and upgrade it whenever the next rarity becomes available.

Collect monster tracks, examine signs, capture monsters when practical, and speak to the Ecological Research team after returning to Astera. These habits progress Monster Ph.D., Capture Pro, Commissioned Work, and several hunt-count trophies without adding separate farming later.

Complete campsite delivery requests whenever you discover a new camp location. Start optional quests and investigations as they appear, fire one SOS flare, and join multiplayer hunts when convenient. Do not begin serious crown farming during the story because Assigned quests use fixed monster sizes and the best crown sources arrive in High Rank.

2

Phase 2: Reach Hunter Rank 100 and Finish Endgame Counters

After the story, clear the Hunter Rank cap quests as they unlock and keep playing until HR 100 for Established Hunter. Your main overlapping goals are 50 tempered monsters, 50 elder dragons, 50 captures, 50 investigations, 50 optional quests, 500 large monsters, maximum research, and five Rarity 8 weapons and armor pieces.

Prioritize tempered investigations and elder dragon investigations. They raise Hunter Rank, supply endgame materials, improve research, and can also produce useful crown attempts. Capture eligible targets instead of slaying them until Capture Pro unlocks. Elder dragons cannot be captured, so use those hunts for Elderslayer instead.

If Iceborne is installed, you can continue into Master Rank after finishing the base story. Master Rank equipment makes most High Rank cleanup much faster, although Iceborne itself is not required for the base Platinum.

3

Phase 3: Farm All Miniature and Gold Giant Crowns

Check the Large Monster Field Guide and make a 28-monster checklist. You need both a miniature crown and a gold giant crown for every required launch monster, creating 56 required records. A silver large crown only unlocks the first Giant Crown trophy. It does not count toward Giant Crown Collector or Giant Crown Master.

Use the five high-chance music event quests for 22 monsters before spending investigations. Then farm Black Diablos, Kirin, Nergigante, Teostra, Kushala Daora, and Vaal Hazak through strong High Rank investigations. Measure monsters before committing to a full hunt and leave quickly when the model is clearly average-sized.

4

Phase 4: Complete Arena, Online, Endemic Life, and Miscellaneous Cleanup

Complete 50 Arena quests from the Gathering Hub for Nowhere to Go but Up. Arena quests use fixed equipment, so repeat a short low-rank matchup you can clear consistently rather than forcing a difficult preset.

Finish 100 multiplayer quests, answer 10 SOS flares, and collect more than 50 Guild Cards. Then capture the four rare endemic-life targets, maximize one Palico Gadget, establish five camps, hold 1,000,000 zenny, and finish any remaining equipment or research requirements.

The Platinum unlocks as soon as all 49 other base-game trophies are complete. Free exploration and every required activity remain available after the story.

Guide notes

Monster Hunter World Crown Hunting Guide

Which Monsters Count for the Crown Trophies?

The crown Master trophies use the 28 size-variable monsters that shipped with the base game. Zorah Magdaros and Xeno'jiiva have fixed sizes, so they do not count. Post-launch monsters such as Deviljho and Lunastra are also excluded from the base Monster Hunter World crown trophies.

The five music-themed event quests cover 22 of the required monsters with much better miniature and gold giant crown odds than standard hunts.

Event questRequired monsters covered
Deep Green BluesGreat Jagras, Pukei-Pukei, Tobi-Kadachi, Anjanath, Rathalos
Wildspire BoleroKulu-Ya-Ku, Barroth, Jyuratodus, Rathian, Diablos
Coral WaltzTzitzi-Ya-Ku, Paolumu, Pink Rathian, Legiana
Effluvial OperaGreat Girros, Radobaan, Odogaron, Bazelgeuse
Rock N' Roll RecessDodogama, Uragaan, Lavasioth, Azure Rathalos

The six remaining targets are Black Diablos, Kirin, Nergigante, Teostra, Kushala Daora, and Vaal Hazak. These should receive most of your investigation farming time.

Monster Hunter World does not identify crown sizes before a hunt in the way Monster Hunter Wilds does. You need to select favorable quests, compare the monster against known body landmarks, and finish the hunt before the size is recorded.

Use the High-Chance Event Quests First

Open the Event Quest list while connected and check for the five music quests. Each contains several monsters and significantly improved odds for both extreme sizes. Hunt only the monster you need, then choose Return from Quest after the kill or capture. The crown is retained and you avoid clearing the remaining targets.

Do not choose Abandon Quest after earning a crown. Abandoning restores the pre-quest state and removes the size record. If the target looks ordinary and has not been hunted, leaving immediately is safe.

Keep the Field Guide open between runs and cross off each miniature and gold giant icon. The first silver giant crown can unlock Giant Crown, but only the ornate gold large icon counts toward the two later giant-crown trophies.

Farm the Remaining Crowns Through Investigations

Not every investigation has useful crown odds. Prioritize High Rank investigations with reward combinations such as at least one gold and one silver box, three gold and one bronze box, or at least three purple tempered boxes. Investigations with four or five gold or purple rewards are especially valuable for gold giant crowns.

Save strong investigations for the six monsters not covered by the music events. Back up your save before spending the final attempt on a rare investigation, particularly when its reward layout has already produced unusual sizes.

Normal Assigned quests are poor crown sources because their sizes are fixed. Basic optional quests are also inefficient for the base-game crown grind. Event quests and qualifying investigations should form almost the entire route.

Measure Before You Hunt

Equip the Ghillie Mantle and carry Shock Traps for non-elder targets. Stand beside consistent body parts such as the ankle, knee, tail, or jaw and compare the scale against your hunter. Crown models are noticeably different, so a quick visual check saves more time than completing every hunt.

For elder dragons, use terrain, sleeping positions, and your hunter's height as references. Record a simple measurement note for each target instead of relying on memory across dozens of attempts. When a monster is clearly too average, return from the quest and load the next investigation.

Guide notes

Online and Co-op Trophy Notes

Current Online Requirements

Five non-Platinum trophies require online interaction: HELP!, I Am the Reinforcements, Hunters United, Hunters United Forever, and Spreading the Word. Since the Platinum depends on all five, it also becomes unavailable if the online service cannot be used.

Monster Hunter World multiplayer remained available on PlayStation in July 2026. PlayStation Plus is required for online multiplayer. Event quests can also depend on an internet connection, which makes completing the crown-friendly events while they remain accessible the safest approach.

SOS and Multiplayer Quest Trophies

Fire an SOS flare during any eligible quest for HELP!. For I Am the Reinforcements, search for SOS requests and help finish 10 quests. Choose active low-rank or high-rank hunts with straightforward targets so failed quests and long setup periods do not slow the count.

Hunters United unlocks after one multiplayer quest. Hunters United Forever requires 100 completed multiplayer quests. Repeat short optional quests or investigations with a partner, or keep answering SOS requests so the 100-quest counter also contributes to the 10 SOS completions, hunt totals, research, and Hunter Rank.

A quest only needs to finish successfully in multiplayer. You do not need a four-player party, and the same quest can be repeated.

Spreading the Word Guild Card Method

Collect more than 50 Guild Cards for Spreading the Word. Cards do not need to come from 50 unique players. One partner can send the same Guild Card repeatedly while you accept it, delete it from the list, and ask them to resend it.

Set aside a short boosting session and keep your card list below its limit. The trophy usually appears as soon as the cumulative accepted count passes 50.

Guide notes

Rare Endemic Life and Research Overview

The Four Rare Creature Trophies

Use the Ghillie Mantle for the two bird trophies and reset the area when the target is absent. These creatures have low spawn rates, so if Iceborne is installed, the Felyne Zoomaster food skill can reduce the search.

TrophyTarget and method
A Living FossilCatch a Petricanths at a rare fishing spawn, commonly checked in the Rotten Vale or Elder's Recess
Snuggles for AllCapture a Downy Crake riding on Aptonoth or Apceros. Approach under the Ghillie Mantle and use the capture net
Bristles for AllCapture a Bristly Crake riding on a Mosswine, usually checked in the Rotten Vale under the Ghillie Mantle
Rainbow BrightCapture a Prism Hercudrome on a tree at dawn or dusk. It appears at fixed possible locations across several maps

Fast travel away and return, or reload the expedition, when a rare creature is missing. Once one appears, keep the Ghillie Mantle active until the capture net lands because nearby wildlife can flee quickly.

Monster Ph.D. and Camp Progress

Monster Ph.D. requires maximum research for almost every monster in the original roster. Collect tracks, break parts, hunt or capture each target, and report to Ecological Research in Astera. Low-rank and High Rank research levels both contribute where applicable.

Use the Large Monster Field Guide as the checklist. Turn in research regularly because gathered evidence does not finish a level until the research team processes it. Title-update monsters are not needed for the base trophy.

For New World Settler, discover camp sites during expeditions and complete the related delivery requests at the Resource Center. Five established camps are enough, so full map completion is not required.

Guide notes

Missable Trophies in Monster Hunter World

Monster Hunter World has no permanently missable base-game trophies. You can continue exploring after the final story assignment, repeat quests, create new investigations, and finish every offline counter on the same save.

The only practical risk is leaving the five online trophies until the service is no longer available. Crown event quests also make the Platinum much faster than pure investigation farming, so handling online and event-dependent work before offline cleanup is sensible.

The Art of Camouflage is an automatic tutorial trophy during the first Jagras encounter. No second story playthrough is required.

Guide notes

Does Difficulty Affect Monster Hunter World Trophies?

Monster Hunter World has no selectable difficulty, so difficulty does not affect any trophy. Quest rank and monster strength rise through natural progression, but there is no difficulty trophy and no New Game Plus requirement.

One story playthrough is enough. The remaining time is endgame farming rather than replaying the campaign. Better armor, upgraded weapons, food skills, mantles, and multiplayer assistance can reduce the mechanical challenge considerably.

Guide notes

General Tips for the Platinum

Stack Every Counter Into the Same Hunts

Treat each quest as progress toward several trophies. A captured tempered monster can increase Hunter Rank, the 500-monster total, the 50-capture total, the 50-tempered total, research levels, investigation completions, and multiplayer completions at the same time.

Choose investigations for monsters whose crowns or research are incomplete. Avoid farming 500 random hunts first because most of that total arrives naturally while finishing crowns, HR 100, elder dragons, tempered monsters, and online quests.

Capture Whenever the Target Allows It

Captures usually end a hunt sooner than slays and count toward the same large-monster totals. Carry a Shock Trap, Pitfall Trap, and Tranq Bombs while Capture Pro is unfinished. Restock through an item loadout so no time is lost rebuilding the pouch.

Elder dragons cannot be trapped. Use those quests for Elderslayer, tempered progress, and high-rarity materials.

Preserve Strong Investigations

Delete weak investigations regularly so useful ones are easy to find. Keep strong reward layouts for crown targets, tempered elders, and monsters with incomplete research. When a limited investigation produces an extreme size, finish the hunt and record the crown before spending the remaining attempts.

The random tail of this Platinum resembles the long progression in the Diablo II: Resurrected trophy guide, although Monster Hunter World lets you combine far more counters into each successful hunt.

Use Iceborne Gear for Faster Base-Game Cleanup

Iceborne is optional, but its Master Rank weapons and armor overpower most High Rank base content. Progressing into the expansion can make Arena-excluded hunts, research farming, elder kills, captures, and crown clears much quicker.

Arena quests still use fixed equipment, so Master Rank gear does not shorten Nowhere to Go but Up. The 50 Arena completions remain a separate repetition grind.

Focus these first

Hardest Trophies and How to Get Them

01

Giant Crown Master

You need a gold large crown for all 28 required monsters. A silver large crown only helps with the first Giant Crown trophy, so verify the icon in the Large Monster Field Guide before crossing off a target.

Clear the five music event quests first, then reserve high-quality investigations for Black Diablos and the five required elder dragons. Measure every target under the Ghillie Mantle where possible. Return immediately when the model is average and finish only likely crown candidates.

02

Miniature Crown Master

The required roster is the same 28 monsters, but every small crown uses the miniature gold icon. Event quests remain the best starting point, followed by strong investigations for the six uncovered targets.

Small monsters can be harder to judge at a distance. Compare the hunter's head or shoulders against a consistent leg joint, and use traps to hold non-elders in a repeatable pose. A written checklist prevents duplicate farming.

03

Monster Ph.D.

Research progress is spread across almost the entire original monster roster. Pick up tracks during every crown attempt, break parts, capture non-elders, and report to Ecological Research after each set of hunts.

Use the Field Guide to identify monsters below their maximum level. Investigations with bonus research conditions can close the final gaps while also contributing to the 50-investigation and Hunter Rank grinds.

04

Hunters United Forever and Nowhere to Go but Up

Both trophies require 100 or 50 completions rather than difficult individual wins. For multiplayer, repeat short low-rank quests with a partner or answer SOS requests that also advance unfinished monster counters. For Arena quests, pick one early matchup whose fixed loadout you can clear reliably.

Alternate these repetitive goals with crown and research sessions. Neither is mechanically demanding, but leaving both until the final cleanup creates several hours of isolated repetition.

Guide notes

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Trophies

Iceborne adds its own 50-trophy expansion list and a separate Platinum. None of those trophies are required for Conqueror of the New World, and the base Monster Hunter World Platinum can be earned without owning the expansion.

The Iceborne list has another large crown grind and uses a broader required roster. Base-game title-update monsters such as Deviljho and Lunastra are excluded from World's two Crown Master trophies, but they can matter for Iceborne's crown requirements.

Owning Iceborne still helps the base route because Master Rank gear shortens most High Rank hunts. It does not create a second Monster Hunter World base trophy stack.

Quick answers

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to Platinum Monster Hunter World?

Expect at least 250 hours. Efficient event-quest farming can lower the total, while poor crown luck can push it well beyond 300 hours.

How hard is the Monster Hunter World Platinum?

It is about 4/10. The combat is manageable with upgraded gear, while the real challenge is the time and random crown grind.

Are there missable trophies in Monster Hunter World?

No. All base-game trophies can be completed after the story on the same save.

How many online trophies are in Monster Hunter World?

Five non-Platinum trophies require online interaction. They cover an SOS flare, 10 SOS assists, one multiplayer quest, 100 multiplayer quests, and more than 50 Guild Cards.

Are Monster Hunter World servers still online?

Yes. Online multiplayer and current support resources were still available on PlayStation in July 2026.

Do you need PlayStation Plus for the Monster Hunter World Platinum?

Yes. The required multiplayer trophies need PlayStation Plus and access to Monster Hunter World's online features.

How many crowns are required for the base Platinum?

You need 56 records across 28 launch monsters. That means one miniature crown and one gold giant crown for each required monster.

Which monsters do not count for the base Crown Master trophies?

Fixed-size monsters such as Zorah Magdaros and Xeno'jiiva do not count. Post-launch additions such as Deviljho and Lunastra are also excluded from the base Crown Master requirements.

Does difficulty affect Monster Hunter World trophies?

No. The game has no selectable difficulty and no difficulty-specific trophy.

How many playthroughs are needed for the Monster Hunter World Platinum?

One story playthrough is enough. Most of the completion time comes from post-game hunts, crowns, research, Arena quests, and multiplayer completions.

What is the hardest trophy in Monster Hunter World?

Giant Crown Master is usually the hardest because it requires gold large crowns for all 28 required monsters and silver crowns do not count.

Is Iceborne required for the Monster Hunter World Platinum?

No. Iceborne has its own 50 trophies and separate Platinum. Its Master Rank equipment can speed up base-game cleanup, but the expansion is optional.

Does Monster Hunter World have a separate PS5 trophy list?

No. Monster Hunter World uses the PS4 trophy list when played through backward compatibility on PS5.

Monster Hunter World is a manageable Platinum wrapped around one of PlayStation's longest RNG grinds. The Monster Hunter World services page supports players who prefer help with the remaining online, crown, or account progression objectives.
