Efficient route

Dynasty Warriors 9 Trophy Guide Roadmap

1

Phase 1: Complete a Thorough First Story

Start with Cao Cao and play his full story on Easy. Complete every available side mission through Chapter 4 before finishing each key mission. This establishes a strong Wei route, covers several easily skipped battle entries, and begins almost every cumulative trophy.

Activate waymarks and watchtowers whenever they are nearby. Keep using the same horse, defeat large groups while mounted, destroy archer towers and other breakable structures, and use the bow whenever a mission supplies dense groups of weak soldiers. Buy one hideaway once you have enough gold.

A complete first route should unlock the basic story trophies, Legend of Wei, A Gathering of Heroes, One Warrior vs. a Thousand, Traveler, and many collection trophies. More importantly, it reduces the amount of separate farming required later.

2

Phase 2: Complete the Required Faction and Officer Routes

Finish one qualifying story for Wu, Shu, Jin, and Other to earn the four remaining faction trophies and Storyteller. Use the recommended officer plan in the Battle Encyclopedia section rather than choosing characters randomly.

The efficient route uses a mixture of full stories and short chapter starts. You need Cao Cao, Sun Jian, Zhou Yu, Lu Xun, Liu Bei, Huang Zhong, Xingcai, Sima Zhao, Deng Ai, Dong Zhuo, Lu Bu, and Yuan Shao for reliable coverage. Depending on which entries registered during Phase 1, a few substitutions or short replays may still be needed.

Complete side missions before their linked key mission whenever possible. Side missions can disappear when the chapter advances, although nothing is permanently missable because completed chapters can be replayed.

3

Phase 3: Finish the Encyclopedia, Map, Hideaways, and Bonds

Open the Encyclopedia after every character route and compare the Battle section for blank entries. Do not assume a battle registered merely because a nearby key mission was completed. Several entries come from a specific side mission, officer, or cutscene.

Continue exploring until Wanderlust unlocks at 75 percent location discovery. Buy ten hideaways for Thronged with Visitors, then use the letter desk to invite officers and raise 20 bonds to maximum for The Ties that Bind Us.

Use one playable officer for all 20 bonds. First speak to an officer in informal clothes inside a major city so the officer becomes available at the letter desk. Send an invitation, speak to the visitor at a hideaway, travel away or advance time, then repeat until the bond reaches 100.

4

Phase 4: Complete the Long Cumulative Grinds

Choose your strongest officer for the final cleanup. Raise that officer to level 100, reach 900 Attack, and keep riding the same horse until it reaches level 100. Finish 1,000 bow kills, 5,000 Hunting Points, 100 meals, 100 synthesis actions, 30 fishing catches, and 30 items from box traps.

Leave The Pinnacle of Might for last. Your story routes should contribute most of the required 100,000 K.O.s. If you still need a large total on an updated game, repeat the Castle Siege ordeal or a chapter with several dense battles and side missions.

Guide notes

General Tips for the Dynasty Warriors 9 Platinum

Treat Shared and Character Progress Separately

Weapons, items, currencies, unlocked officers, map knowledge, and cumulative K.O.s carry across the wider profile. Officer levels do not, and bond progress is safest when completed with one playable officer. Free Mode unlocks after finishing a character story and is useful for replaying completed chapters.

I recommend choosing one main officer early and giving that character your best weapon, Attack investment, and final level grind. Keep one horse equipped across every route instead of rotating mounts.

Combine Counters During Every Battle

Use mounted attacks while traveling through enemy groups, fire the bow during archery missions, perform assault attacks whenever the prompt appears, and destroy small towers at occupied bases. Eat before missions, craft inexpensive bait or traps in single quantities, and leave box traps near a frequently visited hideaway.

The platinum is won through overlap. Farming each counter separately can add many unnecessary hours.

Use Easy Difficulty for Efficiency

No trophy requires a particular difficulty, so Easy is valid for the entire platinum. Side missions also lower the level of their linked key mission, which makes thorough chapter clears both safer and more efficient.

Guide notes

Story Routes and Battle Encyclopedia

Extensive Knowledge is the main planning trophy. It requires every battle entry in the Encyclopedia, including entries tied to optional missions and officers whose stories overlap only briefly.

Recommended Officer Route

FactionRecommended CoverageMain Purpose
WeiComplete Cao Cao's story and every side mission through Chapter 4Covers the Wei ending route and Cao Cao-specific early battles
WuPlay Sun Jian in Chapter 1, Zhou Yu in Chapters 3 and 4, then complete Lu Xun's storyCovers early Wu events and the later Wu timeline
ShuPlay Liu Bei from Chapter 1 into Chapter 4, complete Huang Zhong's first two main missions, then complete Xingcai's storyCovers early Shu events, Capture of Chengdu, and the late Shu timeline
JinComplete both Sima Zhao and Deng AiCovers the final chapters and their officer-specific entries
OtherComplete Dong Zhuo and Lu Bu, then start Yuan Shao in Chapter 1 until the Ten Eunuchs scene registersCovers the short Other story trophy and unique early conflicts

This is a safety-first route rather than the only valid route. Other officers can cover many of the same battles, but random selections tend to create more cleanup.

Commonly Missed Battle Entries

Battle EntryReliable Route
Battle of Liang ProvincePlay Dong Zhuo
Ten Eunuchs' RebellionStart Yuan Shao in Chapter 1 and continue through the relevant opening scene
Battle of Xu ProvinceComplete the Wei Chapter 3 side mission near Beihai as Cao Cao
Battle of DingtaoPlay Wei or Lu Bu in Chapter 3 and complete the related objective chain
Imperial EscortComplete the relevant Wei Chapter 3 mission
Battle of Wan CastlePlay Cao Cao in Chapter 4
Battle of XiaopeiUse Liu Bei or Zhang Fei in Shu Chapter 4, not Zhao Yun
The Little Conqueror in PerilPlay Wu Chapter 4 with an eligible officer other than Sun Ce
Capture of ChengduUse Wei Yan, Huang Zhong, or Fa Zheng in Shu
Battle of JietingComplete the Chapter 11 side mission
Battle of XiangpingUse Wang Yuanji or Sima Zhao in Chapter 12
Xiahou Ba's JourneyFollow the relevant Shu or Jin Chapter 12 story scene
Wei Emperor's Last StandUse Sima Zhao, Jia Chong, or Wang Yuanji in Chapter 13

Check the Encyclopedia immediately after each risky entry. If it remains blank, replay the chapter with one of the listed officers and complete every linked side mission before the key mission.

Guide notes

Exploration, Hideaways, and Bonds

Reaching 75 Percent Map Discovery

You do not need to uncover every location. Activate waymarks first because they expose nearby points, then use watchtowers to reveal a wider area. Cities, villages, castles, camps, scenic areas, hideaways, and other named locations all contribute to exploration progress.

The cleanup is broader than the one in the Ghost of Tsushima trophy guide, but the efficient principle is similar. Reveal clusters from towers and waymarks before riding to individual icons.

Map knowledge is shared, so every character route contributes. Traveler unlocks at 35 percent and Wanderlust unlocks at 75 percent.

Buying Ten Hideaways

Each standard hideaway costs 30,000 gold, so ten purchases require 300,000 gold in total. Golden Palace only asks you to earn 90,000 gold cumulatively, not hold it all at once, and should unlock well before the tenth purchase.

If Thronged with Visitors does not unlock at exactly ten, leave the area, save, and buy another hideaway. Historical reports describe the purchase counter registering late rather than becoming permanently blocked.

Maxing 20 Officer Bonds

Use the same playable officer for the entire bond grind. Visit major cities and speak to officers wearing informal clothes. Once an officer is registered for letters, invite that officer from a hideaway, speak to the visitor, then travel to another location or advance time.

A successful conversation normally raises the bond by roughly one-third, so three visits are usually enough. If the wrong visitor appears, travel to a camp, advance time, return to the hideaway, and resend the invitation.

Guide notes

Long Grind and Cleanup Trophies

K.O.s, Officer Level, Attack, and Horse Level

The Pinnacle of Might counts 100,000 K.O.s across your profile, so do not begin a dedicated farm until every required story route is finished. Dense side missions and Castle Siege are better final farms than riding between scattered open-world groups.

Raise one officer to level 100 for Veteran Master. Spend level-up points and Books of Musou on Attack, then equip a strong weapon and useful gems until the displayed value reaches 900 for Unrivaled Warrior.

Use one horse from the opening route onward. Mounted travel and mounted kills both build horse experience, and changing horses divides progress. The repeated cleanup is more comparable to the long-form grind in the Yakuza: Like a Dragon trophy guide than to a difficult combat challenge.

Bow Kills and Hunting Points

Sure Shot unlocks at 100 bow kills and Sun Piercer requires 1,000. Archery side missions are efficient because they place weak enemies in clear groups and can supply explosive arrows. Outside those missions, lower enemy health with normal attacks and make sure the bow lands the killing hit.

For Master of the Hunt, target stronger animals rather than low-value deer. High-level wolves, tigers, bears, and powerful variants provide better Hunting Points. Track the total in the in-game Records menu.

Crafting, Meals, Fishing, and Box Traps

Crafting at a Blacksmith or Shopkeeper counts as synthesis. Make 100 inexpensive items one at a time for Nimble Fingers. Normal bait and basic box traps are cheap choices that also support other trophies.

Eat whenever you pass a teahouse until Epicure unlocks at 100 meals. For Fisher, use bait at any fishing point until 30 items have been caught. For Steady Worker, place several box traps near a hideaway, complete missions or advance time, then collect the contents once the trap icons show they are ready.

Buy or craft 30 weapons for Master of the Martial Arts, obtain 20 gems for Collector, and acquire an Epic weapon for A Brush with Expertise. These requirements use the shared inventory, so progress made by different officers still helps.

Guide notes

Does Difficulty Affect Trophies or Require NG+?

Difficulty does not affect trophies. You can play every story, side mission, hunt, and cleanup task on Easy.

There is no required New Game+ cycle. Character stories begin in different chapters, while shared items and map progress remain available across the profile. Free Mode lets you revisit chapters that have already been completed.

The Three Kingdoms setting overlaps with the Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty trophy guide, but Dynasty Warriors 9 is an endurance platinum rather than a skill-heavy combat platinum.

Guide notes

Online and Co-op Trophy Notes

Dynasty Warriors 9 supports two-player online co-op and local split-screen co-op after its free updates. A PlayStation Plus membership is required for online play on PS4.

No trophy requires co-op, matchmaking, or an active server. The full platinum remains available offline, so multiplayer should be treated only as an optional way to divide mission work.

Guide notes

DLC Trophy Notes

Dynasty Warriors 9 has additional weapons, costumes, officers, scenarios, and hideaway content, but it has no separate DLC trophy pack. Paid content is not required for the platinum.

The Complete Edition and other bundles use the same 44-trophy base list. DLC officers do not count toward Flowers Amidst the Chaos, which is based on the 90 officers in the original roster.

Guide notes

Glitched Trophies and Save Safety

No trophy is widely considered permanently unobtainable on the final PS4 updates. Older tracking reports mainly affect Extensive Knowledge, Thronged with Visitors, and hideaway invitation behavior.

Check the Encyclopedia after every planned battle instead of waiting until the end. If the hideaway trophy is late, buy another property. If an invited officer does not appear, advance time at a camp and resend the letter.

The game relies heavily on one rolling profile, so keep a backup before the final Encyclopedia and bond cleanup. A backup does not replace good tracking, but it protects the long shared-progress file from corruption or an accidental overwrite.

Guide notes

Missable Trophies in Dynasty Warriors 9

There are no permanently missable trophies. Completed chapters can be replayed, Free Mode provides additional cleanup access, and shared progression carries across character stories.

A key mission can close unfinished side missions in the current chapter, which may delay a Battle Encyclopedia entry. That is an efficiency problem rather than a true missable because you can replay the chapter with the correct officer.

Focus these first

Hardest Trophies and How to Get Them

01

Extensive Knowledge

This is the hardest trophy to route because the Encyclopedia does not fill from main missions alone. Follow the recommended officer table, complete all side missions in the risky chapters, and inspect blank battle entries after every route.

Do not speed through Chapter 3, Chapter 4, Chapter 11, or the late Jin chapters. These contain several entries that can be skipped when you head directly to the key mission.

02

The Pinnacle of Might

The requirement is simple but long. Build K.O.s naturally across every story route, use dense side missions instead of empty open-world travel, and reserve Castle Siege for the final deficit. Farming too early wastes the thousands of K.O.s that later routes would have supplied.

03

The Ties that Bind Us

Maxing 20 bonds is repetitive and the visitor system can be inconsistent. Register at least 20 officers in cities first, then complete the entire invitation loop with one playable officer. Advance time and resend the letter whenever the expected visitor fails to appear.

04

Wanderlust

The map is large enough that aimless riding is inefficient. Prioritize waymarks and watchtowers, collect clusters around cities and castles, and let all required story routes add progress before starting a dedicated sweep.

Quick answers

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to platinum Dynasty Warriors 9?

Expect about 75 to 90 hours. Efficient Encyclopedia routing and overlapping the K.O., horse, bow, exploration, and crafting counters keep the total near the lower end.

How hard is the Dynasty Warriors 9 platinum?

The platinum is about 3/10. Combat is easy on the lowest setting, while the challenge comes from route planning and long cumulative grinds.

Are there missable trophies in Dynasty Warriors 9?

No. Side missions can close when a key mission advances the chapter, but you can replay completed chapters and recover every trophy-related entry.

Does difficulty affect trophies in Dynasty Warriors 9?

No. Every trophy can be earned on Easy.

How many playthroughs are needed for the platinum?

Plan on one shared profile with roughly 12 to 15 character story routes. Several are only partial chapter runs used to register specific Encyclopedia entries.

Are there online trophies in Dynasty Warriors 9?

No. Online and local co-op are optional, and all 44 trophies can be earned solo and offline.

What is the hardest trophy in Dynasty Warriors 9?

Extensive Knowledge is the hardest to plan because several Battle Encyclopedia entries depend on specific officers, optional missions, or story scenes.

Do you need to discover every location?

No. Wanderlust unlocks at 75 percent, so you can ignore the remaining quarter of the map once the trophy appears.

Do DLC officers count toward Flowers Amidst the Chaos?

No. The trophy requires the 90 officers in the original roster, not paid DLC officers.

Does Dynasty Warriors 9 have a separate PS5 platinum?

No. The game uses its PS4 trophy list when played on PS5 through backward compatibility.

What is the fastest way to reach 100,000 K.O.s?

Finish every required story route first, then repeat Castle Siege or another dense chapter only for the remaining total. Early dedicated farming is inefficient because later stories add thousands of natural K.O.s.

Dynasty Warriors 9 becomes a controlled platinum once the Battle Encyclopedia is tracked during each faction route and every cumulative counter is combined with normal play. Players who prefer direct help with the remaining officer, map, or K.O. grind can use DamnModz PlayStation trophy services, while the complete trophy list remains obtainable offline.
