Fallout 4 is one of the longer entries in the PlayStation trophy guides, but no trophy requires a high combat difficulty. The real risk is closing a faction route before its trophies are complete.

Phase 1: Early Setup

Leave Vault 111, complete the Sanctuary tutorial, and unlock Red Rocket Truck Stop. Start the two-settler Benevolent Leader setup as soon as you can afford a tier 3 restaurant.

Keep three rotating manual saves from the beginning. A Luck 5 build can use Idiot Savant for faster experience, especially with low Intelligence. Charisma 6 is useful for Local Leader, while Pickpocket, Locksmith, and Hacker support several miscellaneous trophies.

Recruit Piper or another companion early and keep that companion active. Work on affinity, locks, terminals, locations, side quests, and miscellaneous objectives while travelling.

Phase 2: Story and All Four Factions

Play the main story through Dangerous Minds, then follow the faction order below. You will advance the Minutemen, Brotherhood of Steel, Railroad, and Institute without locking yourself out early.

Create a permanent manual save immediately after completing Mankind-Redefined. Do not overwrite it. One branch earns the Institute and Railroad trophies, then a reload earns the remaining Brotherhood and ending trophies.

Phase 3: Collectibles and Base-Game Cleanup

Collect all 20 Bobbleheads and any 20 magazines. Reach level 50, discover 100 locations, recruit five companions, maximize one relationship, and finish the crafting and combat counters.

Most cleanup remains available after the story. Keep the faction master save until every quest trophy is visible on your PSN list.

Phase 4: Optional DLC Cleanup

The six DLC packs use separate trophy lists. Far Harbor and Nuka-World need additional planning, while the three Workshop packs are mainly settlement tasks. None of them affects Platinum Trophy.

The route below names quests but avoids major story details where possible.

4 Find the Railroad through Road to Freedom, then complete Tradecraft.
5 Return to the main story for The Glowing Sea, Hunter/Hunted, and The Molecular Level. Have the Railroad build the signal interceptor, then complete Institutionalized.
6 Advance Underground Undercover only until the objective says Continue Working with Father. Return to the Brotherhood and complete From Within, Outside the Wire, and Liberty Reprimed. Blind Betrayal starts automatically, so stop before speaking to Maxson.
7 Complete Synth Retention, The Battle of Bunker Hill, and Mankind-Redefined for the Institute. During Bunker Hill, inform the Railroad, free the synths, kill the Courser, and tell Father you were ambushed.
8 MASTER SAVE: Make a separate manual save after Mankind-Redefined. Never overwrite it.
9 On the first branch, complete Mass Fusion, Pinned, and Powering Up. Resume Underground Undercover, then complete Precipice of War and Rockets' Red Glare. Finish End of the Line and Nuclear Family for the Institute ending.
10 Reload the master save. Start Mass Fusion, warn the Brotherhood, then complete Spoils of War, Blind Betrayal, Tactical Thinking, Ad Victoriam, and The Nuclear Option.

This route earns every faction trophy in one playthrough with one major reload. Unlike the ending cleanup in the Cyberpunk 2077 trophy guide, Fallout 4 requires you to protect access to entire faction questlines rather than only save before a final dialogue.

An optional save after Rockets' Red Glare preserves a Railroad-friendly world state. Another optional save after Nuclear Family preserves the Institute ending.

Does Difficulty Affect Trophies in Fallout 4?

No trophy is tied to difficulty, and Survival mode is not required. You can play on Very Easy, change difficulty at any time, and still earn the platinum.

Fallout 4 has no standard New Game Plus mode. The one-playthrough route depends on reloading the faction master save rather than carrying progress into another run.

How to Get Benevolent Leader

Benevolent Leader is the rarest and most troublesome base-game trophy, but its wording is misleading. A "large settlement" does not require a large population or a full settlement-size meter. Two settlers are enough.

Use this reliable Red Rocket setup:

  1. Unlock Local Leader rank 2 and Cap Collector rank 2, then build a tier 3 Food and Drink Restaurant.
  2. Move exactly two human settlers to Red Rocket and switch off the recruitment beacon.
  3. Build two covered beds, at least two food, at least three water, and defense higher than the combined local food and water.
  4. Assign one settler to the crops and the other to the restaurant.
  5. Avoid robots and unassigned settlers. Keep food and water available in the workshop and respond to settlement attacks.
  6. Continue playing while happiness rises, then return periodically to confirm both assignments and a rising arrow.

Do not use Red Rocket for Fix-Er-Upper while this setup is active. Build your 100 workshop objects elsewhere. If happiness stalls, stay at Red Rocket for a while, verify the beds are under a roof, and confirm that neither settler has lost the assigned job.

Make a manual save before Emogene Takes a Lover, then complete the Cabot House quests in their intended order. If Emogene fails to appear or the quest marker behaves incorrectly, reload before progressing. The Charisma Bobblehead becomes accessible at Parsons during The Secret of Cabot House.

Collectible cleanup is lighter than in the Hogwarts Legacy trophy guide, since Fallout 4 requires all 20 Bobbleheads but only any 20 magazines.

Print's Not Dead requires 20 magazines, not every issue in the game. Pick up magazines during normal exploration and prioritize named interiors, faction headquarters, vaults, shops, and quest locations.

General Tips for the Fallout 4 Platinum

Save Management and Level 50

I recommend keeping one current save, one pre-quest save, and one protected faction save. Manual backups are more dependable than autosaves when a quest script or NPC fails.

Idiot Savant requires Luck 5 and triggers more often with lower Intelligence. It can shorten the level 50 grind, but it is optional. Normal story, faction, side, and DLC completion usually provides enough experience.

Companion Affinity and Exploration Counters

Piper is a practical choice for Lovable because helpful dialogue, lockpicking, and several common actions raise her affinity. Keep one companion with you, avoid repeated disliked actions, and speak to them when new personal dialogue appears.

Pick every lock, hack every terminal, and discover nearby map markers as you travel. For …The Harder They Fall, make sure your own attack lands the killing blow on each Behemoth or Mirelurk Queen.

Quests, Objectives, and Crafting

Gun-For-Hire counts side quests, while Mercenary counts the smaller tasks shown under Miscellaneous in the Pip-Boy. Check that menu often and clear quick objectives before they become buried.

Store junk in settlement workshops, craft inexpensive food and chems, and modify cheap weapons. Track food or chems for Wasteland D.I.Y., weapon mods for Armed and Dangerous, and workshop objects for Fix-Er-Upper.

Mods, PS4, PS5, and Glitch Warnings

Community mods disable trophies for any save branch loaded with them. Disabling the mods later does not repair that branch. You must return to a save created before mods were enabled.

Official Creation Club content and Creations explicitly marked achievement-friendly are exceptions. A fully unmodded save is still the safest choice for a platinum run.

PS4 and PS5 use separate trophy lists. Imported PS4 saves may carry some ongoing counters after you repeat a related action, but completed trophies do not transfer reliably. Do not plan around a full auto-pop.

Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition includes the six existing DLC packs, but it does not add another trophy set beyond the established 85 total trophies.

Far Harbor

Treat The Way Life Should Be, Cleansing The Land, and Push Back The Fog as missable. Use one protected save to control all three.

Unlock three Far Harbor workshops before making any faction hostile. Longfellow's Cabin counts, then complete enough local side quests for two more settlements. During Best Left Forgotten, recover the nuclear launch key and the wind-farm kill switch code, then make a manual save.

Finish The Way Life Should Be and the peaceful story cleanup first. Hold Cleansing The Land until the other story and workshop trophies are secure, then use the backup to take the destructive branch required for that trophy.

Contraptions Workshop

Show Off uses the new display objects, Time Out requires assigning a settler to a pillory, and Mass Production requires a builder to manufacture 100 items. A simple powered conveyor line is enough.

Vault-Tec Workshop

Become Overseer, unlock every Vault 88 build area, then equip a settler with a Vault 88 suit and Pip-Boy. Keep a save before major Overseer dialogue choices in case a quest stage fails to advance.

Nuka-World

Do not start Open Season or make the raider gangs hostile until the raider trophies are complete. Finish 12 gang jobs for Raiding for a Living, complete Home Sweet Home, establish eight Commonwealth outposts for Hostile Takeover, and finish Power Play.

Work on All Sugared Up while exploring by killing Nuka-World creatures under a crafted Nuka-Mix effect. Eyes on the Prize is the longest cleanup because it requires 100,000 Nuka-Cade tickets.

Use the two-settler Red Rocket setup and begin it early. The essentials are covered beds, enough food and water, adequate defense, and one settler assigned to a tier 3 restaurant.

Avoid changing the settlement while happiness is rising. If the number stops, check attacks, workshop supplies, job assignments, and roof coverage before adding more objects.

Only Super Mutant Behemoths and Mirelurk Queens count, and you should land the final hit yourself. Reliable targets include Swan at Swan's Pond, the Castle Mirelurk Queen, the Murkwater Construction Site Queen, the Spectacle Island Queen, and Behemoths near Walden Pond or Natick Banks.

Save before each fight if companions, settlers, or faction forces are nearby. Reload when another character takes the killing blow.
