The Evil Within 2 Trophy Guide and Platinum Roadmap
Follow these phases in order to protect the missable work and keep the The Evil Within 2 Platinum cleanup efficient.
Phase 0: Read before you play
There is no chapter select, so almost every trophy must be caught on the run it appears in. Read the per-chapter checklist before starting.
If you are playing blind first, read the blind playthrough modifiers section, since it contains tips that make the Classic Mode run much easier later.
Classic Mode unlocks after beating the game once on any difficulty, and difficulty trophies stack.
If the 7 save limit sounds unmanageable, note that cheats exist and reportedly drop the difficulty from 8 out of 10 to 3. Verify their trophy effect first.
Phase 1: First playthrough with the checklist
Play on any difficulty you like. Collect everything, since there is no chapter select to fall back on.
Work the chapter-specific trophies as you reach each chapter, including the coffee in the chapter 13 safe house in the business district, which is the outside area not the mission start.
Collect all files and open all lockers as you go.
Start upgrading weapons and buying Sebastian's abilities, since completing all of them takes more than one run.
Phase 2: Nightmare
Play Nightmare specifically to get a feel for ammo conservation before Classic Mode.
On your second playthrough you can select any difficulty equal to or lower than the one you originally completed.
Continue the weapon and ability upgrades. A third run in New Game Plus Plus is available if two are not enough.
Pick up the Brass Knuckles, which needs a Nightmare or Classic completion.
Phase 3: Classic Mode
7 manual saves for the entire game, no autosave, no checkpoints, no purchasable upgrades and nothing transfers in.
Damage is only as high as Nightmare though, not one hit kills, which is the key difference from the first game's Akumu.
Use the open world sections to bypass enemies entirely by sneaking or running past them. There are also fewer boss fights than in the first game.
Save deliberately, ideally before the sections you know are difficult rather than at fixed intervals.
This is the run buyers most often want handled. One soft mention of DamnModz fits here, then back to strategy.
Phase 4: Cleanup and the stack
Finish any remaining upgrades and combat trophies on a partial run to chapter 14 if needed.
The platinum should land at 30 to 40 hours, or around 11 from your second run if following a guide.
If you want another platinum, the Japanese release Psycho Break 2 stacks with the international version.
Guide notes
There Is No Chapter Select
First section after the Quick Info box. This is the fact that shapes the entire page. Without chapter select, every trophy except the automatic story ones has to be caught on the playthrough where it appears. PowerPyx therefore describes them all as missable while PlayStationTrophies counts 19, but the mechanism is identical either way. It means this guide must be read before playing rather than consulted during, which is a very different reading experience from the first game.
Guide notes
Classic Mode Is Not Akumu
Classic Mode gives you 7 manual saves for the entire game, no autosave, no checkpoints and no purchasable upgrades, and nothing transfers in from previous runs. But the damage you take is only as high as Nightmare mode, not the one hit kills of the first game's Akumu.
Guide notes
Why Classic Mode Is Easier Than the First Game
Beyond the damage difference, this game has many open world sections where you can completely bypass enemies by sneaking or running past them, and there are fewer boss fights overall. Combined with Nightmare-level damage rather than one hit kills, that is why the sequel's hardest mode is widely considered gentler than Akumu despite the save limit.
Guide notes
Practise on Nightmare First
The recommended preparation is a Nightmare run before Classic Mode, specifically to get a feel for ammo conservation. Classic Mode unlocks after beating the game once on any difficulty, and difficulty trophies stack, so the order is a comfortable first run, then Nightmare, then Classic.
Guide notes
Read the Blind Playthrough Modifiers First
One walkthrough includes a Notes For a Blind Playthrough section containing modifiers and tips that make the later Classic Mode run considerably easier. If you intend to play blind first, read that section before starting rather than after. Following a guide from your second playthrough onwards puts the platinum at around 11 hours from that point.
Guide notes
The Cheat Route
Multiple sources point to cheats as a legitimate fallback, taking the difficulty from 8 out of 10 down to 3 and cutting the time below the 30 to 40 hour estimate.
Guide notes
All Upgrades Need More Than One Run
Fully upgrading every weapon and buying all of Sebastian's abilities is not possible in a single playthrough. Plan for it across your runs, and note that a third run in New Game Plus Plus is available if two are not enough. On your second playthrough you may select any difficulty equal to or lower than the one you originally completed.

The Chapter-Specific Trophies
Many trophies are tied to a specific chapter and a specific action, such as the coffee in the chapter 13 safe house in the business district, which is the outside area rather than the safe house where the mission starts. Without chapter select these have to be caught in the moment, so publish them as a per-chapter checklist rather than a flat list.
The Brass Knuckles Requirement
The Brass Knuckles weapon requires beating the game on Nightmare or Classic difficulty.
Not the First Game
Cross-link our The Evil Within brief both ways. Its Akumu run is one hit kills with no open world sections, which makes it the harsher of the two despite this game's save limit.

Is Classic Mode as hard as Akumu in the first game?
No. Classic Mode limits you to 7 manual saves with no autosave or checkpoints, but the damage you take is only as high as Nightmare rather than the one hit kills of Akumu.
Why is The Evil Within 2's hardest mode easier?
Beyond the damage difference, this game has many open world sections where you can completely bypass enemies by sneaking or running past, and there are fewer boss fights than in the first game.
How many saves do you get in Classic Mode?
Seven manual saves for the entire game, and there is no autosave or checkpoint system at all. Save deliberately before sections you know are difficult.

Multiple guides point to cheats as a legitimate fallback that drops the difficulty from 8 out of 10 to 3, but verify what they are and their trophy effect before relying on them.
