Final Fantasy XVI Trophy Guide and Platinum Roadmap
Follow these phases in order to protect the missable work and keep the Final Fantasy XVI Platinum cleanup efficient.
Phase 0: Set your expectations and equip a ring
The accessibility rings do not disable trophies and can be used on Final Fantasy mode. Equip whichever you like without penalty.
Never sell equipment or crafting materials. The one missable trophy is lost only that way.
Understand that Final Fantasy mode is New Game Plus only, so two playthroughs are required.
The game is PS5 exclusive, so there is no second platinum to stack.
Phase 1: First playthrough on Story or Action
Play through the story at your leisure, completing all side quests as they appear since they can expire at plot points.
Complete all Notorious Mark hunts from the hunt board.
After Main Quest 37, After the Storm, buy the On Fortune and Heavens accessory for plus 15 percent EXP and keep it equipped.
Work the combat trophies as they come, noting that most exclude battles in the Hall of Virtue so the arena cannot be used to farm them.
Craft or upgrade gear but never sell the materials.
Phase 2: Clear game save cleanup
Load the clear game save, which returns you to just before the final main quest.
Finish any outstanding side quests and Notorious Marks, and roam for treasures and crafting materials.
The exploration trophy should fire naturally, since completing everything forces you through 66 of the 68 locations. If it has not, check the maps manually since there is no in-game tracker.
Mop up the remaining combat feats out in the world rather than in the Hall of Virtue.
Phase 3: New Game Plus on Final Fantasy mode
Start New Game Plus and select Final Fantasy mode, which is the only place it is available.
Equip the Autoevade Ring and any others you want. They do not disable trophies and they drop this from a challenge to roughly 3 out of 10.
Final Fantasy mode extends the level cap, changes enemy placement and increases AI aggression, so the EXP accessory from your first run pays off here.
Fantasy Finally is the trophy that defines the platinum. One soft mention of DamnModz fits here.
Grind out the remaining Eikon ability upgrades, which is the other significant time sink.
Guide notes
The Rings Work on Final Fantasy Mode
First section after the Quick Info box. Final Fantasy XVI ships with accessibility rings, autododge, autocombo, autoassist and autohealing, which sit in your inventory from the start. None of them disable trophies, and crucially they can be equipped during Final Fantasy mode, the hardest difficulty and the one the platinum requires. That takes Fantasy Finally from a genuine challenge to roughly 3 out of 10.
Guide notes
Do Not Sell Anything
There is exactly one missable trophy, Half Past Twilight, and it can only be lost by selling the crafting materials for Gotterdammerung, namely Ragnarok, Orichalcum, Darksteel and Primitive Battlehorn. The reason it matters is that the game provides the exact number of resources per playthrough, so selling even one breaks the chain. The instruction is simply never to sell equipment or materials, and then the list has no missables at all.
Guide notes
Two Playthroughs, and Why
Final Fantasy mode is only available in New Game Plus, so the platinum needs a first playthrough on Story or Action followed by a New Game Plus run on Final Fantasy mode. Difficulty does affect trophies here, but the rings apply, so the second run is about time rather than skill.
Guide notes
Buy the EXP Accessory at Main Quest 37
After reaching Main Quest 37, After the Storm, the accessory On Fortune and Heavens becomes purchasable and grants plus 15 percent EXP. Keep it equipped for the rest of the game so you are sufficiently levelled entering New Game Plus, where Final Fantasy mode extends the level cap. A small purchase at a known point that saves real grinding later.

Do Side Quests As They Appear
Side quests themselves are not trophy relevant, but they can become missable after crucial plot points. Since several trophies depend on content unlocked through them and the exploration trophy depends on visiting locations they open, the safe habit is completing them whenever they become available rather than saving them up.
The Exploration Trophy Is Automatic But Untrackable
There are 68 locations, and completing all main quests except the final one, all side quests and all Notorious Mark hunts forces you through 66 of them. So it arrives naturally. But there is no in-game way to see which locations you are missing, so if it does not fire you must check the maps manually. State both halves.
The Clear Game Save
After completing the game you can load a clear game save that returns you to just before the final main quest. From there you can finish outstanding side quests, hunt Notorious Marks and roam for treasures and materials. That is where most cleanup happens rather than in a fresh run.
Efficient route
Hall of Virtue Exclusions
A large number of combat trophies specify excluding battles in the Hall of Virtue. Flag the exclusion prominently in the trophy table rather than leaving it to individual descriptions.
The Two DLC Packs
Echoes of the Fallen adds 6 trophies and The Rising Tide adds 13, giving 69 in total. Neither is required for the platinum.
Not Final Fantasy VII Remake
Cross-link our live Final Fantasy VII Remake and Rebirth pages. Note that FF7 Remake's God Mode also stopped voiding trophies as of update 1.4, though it is only available in the Intergrade version on PS4, which is worth checking on that page.

Final Fantasy XVI Missable, Glitched, and Difficulty Notes
- Exactly one missable trophy, Half Past Twilight, and it can only be lost by selling the Gotterdammerung crafting materials.
- Those materials are Ragnarok, Orichalcum, Darksteel and Primitive Battlehorn. The game provides the exact number of resources per playthrough, so selling any breaks it.
- The accessibility rings, autododge, autocombo, autoassist and autohealing, do NOT disable trophies and can be used on Final Fantasy mode.
- Difficulty does affect trophies. Final Fantasy mode is required and is only available in New Game Plus, so two playthroughs are needed.
- Side quests are not trophy relevant themselves but can become missable after crucial plot points, so complete them as they appear.
- A large number of combat trophies exclude battles in the Hall of Virtue, so the arena cannot be used to farm them.
- The exploration trophy is effectively automatic but has no in-game tracker, so you must check maps manually if it does not fire.
- The game is PS5 exclusive with no PS4 version, no autopop and no crossbuy.
- Neither DLC pack is required for the platinum, though together they add 19 more trophies.
Quick answers
Frequently Asked Questions
Do the rings disable trophies in Final Fantasy XVI?
No. Autododge, autocombo, autoassist and autohealing are all trophy safe, they are in your inventory from the start, and they can be used on Final Fantasy mode, which is the difficulty the platinum requires.
Which Final Fantasy XVI trophy is missable?
Only Half Past Twilight, and only if you sell the Gotterdammerung materials. The game gives exactly enough resources per playthrough, so simply never sell equipment or materials.
How many playthroughs does Final Fantasy XVI need?
Two. Final Fantasy mode is only available in New Game Plus, so you need a first run on Story or Action followed by a New Game Plus run on Final Fantasy mode.
How hard is Final Fantasy mode in FF16?
Roughly 3 out of 10 with the Autoevade Ring equipped, and harder without. Since the rings do not disable trophies, most readers should just use them.
How long does it take to platinum Final Fantasy XVI?
Around 70 to 90 hours across two playthroughs. Most of that is the story length rather than difficulty.
Should you buy the EXP accessory in FF16?
Yes. After Main Quest 37, After the Storm, buy On Fortune and Heavens for plus 15 percent EXP and keep it equipped, so you are sufficiently levelled entering New Game Plus.
Can you farm combat trophies in the Hall of Virtue?
No. A large number of the combat trophies specifically exclude battles in the Hall of Virtue, so those feats have to be performed out in the world.
Do you need the DLC for the FF16 platinum?
No. Echoes of the Fallen adds 6 trophies and The Rising Tide adds 13, but the platinum only requires the 50 base trophies.
