Demon's Souls Trophy Guide Quick Info
Within our PlayStation trophy guides, Demon's Souls is one of the most planning-heavy platinums because one careless Body Form death can change access to an event or item.
World and Character Tendency Explained
Tendency is the core of the Demon's Souls platinum. World Tendency controls events in one Archstone, while Character Tendency controls global rewards.
World Tendency
Each of the five Archstones has a separate state. Boss kills push that world toward white. Body Form deaths inside it push toward black. Named Black Phantoms and Primeval Demons can move it back toward white.
Explore in Soul Form. After each boss restores Body Form, return to the Nexus and die there because a Nexus death does not lower any world's Tendency. Stay offline while routing these events.
Reach Pure White first and complete its trophy-critical events:
- Obtain the 3-2 key and free Lord Rydell in 3-1 for the Dull Rat's Ring.
- Collect Makoto in 4-2 and deliver it to Satsuki in 4-1.
- Use the new 5-1 path to obtain Istarelle.
Take any other white-tendency rewards you need before deliberately moving a world toward black.
Character Tendency
After the Pure White events, move every world to Pure Black. Personally defeat Black Phantom Miralda, Scirvir, Rydell, Satsuki, and Selen Vinland. Avoid gravity or damage-over-time finishes so the kills reliably push Character Tendency toward white.
At Pure White Character Tendency, speak to the Monumental for the Ally's Ring. You must have answered Yes during the Monumental's opening explanation. Only then should you lower Character Tendency, trigger Mephistopheles, and complete her requests through Yuria for the Foe's Ring. Kill Yurt after freeing him and finish all NPC purchases before starting the assassinations.
The Bloodborne trophy guide also rewards careful NPC planning, but Demon's Souls demands tighter control over each world's state.
Safest Tendency Order
- Earn Return to Form early. Delay Unwelcome Guest until after the Ally's Ring or use a backup.
- Play offline, remain in Soul Form, defeat bosses, and finish every Pure White event.
- Shift each world to Pure Black, then collect its items and defeat its named Black Phantom and Primeval Demon.
- Claim the Ally's Ring, move Character Tendency to Pure Black, and complete Mephistopheles' quest.
When both black-tendency enemies are active in one world, kill both before warping or returning to the Nexus so the first Tendency update does not remove the second.
Demon's Souls Platinum Roadmap
Phase 1: Bosses, Pure White Tendency and Rescues
Royalty is the easiest starting class, and the Providential Ring is the simplest starting gift for King of Rings. After Phalanx, preserve every boss soul and use Soul Form inside the Archstones.
Complete the seven one-attempt challenges as you progress. Ignore Tower Knight's archers, bring Biorr to Penetrator, finish Dragon God with the Hands of God, cross the 3-1 arrow walkway, avoid Fool's Idol clones, keep Adjudicator standing, and spare Garl Vinland.
Rescue Freke, Urbain, and Yuria. Free Yurt in 3-2, then kill him before he attacks Nexus NPCs. Give the Searing Demon Soul to Blacksmith Ed and complete the Pure White events for Lord Rydell, Makoto, and Istarelle.
Phase 2: Pure Black Tendency and Character Tendency
Use Stones of Ephemeral Eyes and Body Form deaths to move one Archstone at a time to Pure Black. Collect black-tendency rings, defeat the named Black Phantom and Primeval Demon, then repeat in the next world.
Claim the Ally's Ring at Pure White Character Tendency. Finish all NPC purchases, lower Character Tendency, and complete Mephistopheles' list for the Foe's Ring. This is also a safe point for Unwelcome Guest.
Back up before the final descent. Kill the Maiden in Black for Seekest soul power, restore, then take the good ending for the Maiden in Black Demon Soul needed by Soulsucker.
Phase 3: NG+ Spells, Miracles, Rings and Endings
Continue the restored good-ending save into NG+. Rescue the three teachers again, collect the required duplicate boss souls, and re-enable Blacksmith Ed's advanced forging. Create Northern Regalia from Demonbrandt, Soulbrandt, and the False King Demon Soul.
Back up before spending the shared souls. Buy all 12 miracles for Saint's Trophy, restore, then buy all 22 spells for Sage's Trophy. Finish all 30 rings on the same character. Two cycles are enough with backups, while a no-restore route normally takes three.
Best Build and Online Trophy Notes
Easiest Build for the Platinum
Royalty starts with Soul Arrow and the Fragrant Ring. Pick the Providential Ring as the starting gift, then collect the Cling Ring in 1-1, Thief Ring, and Crescent Falchion +1 in 4-1. Vitality, Intelligence, and Magic create a forgiving route, but no build locks a trophy.
Return to Form
Use the Blue Eye Stone outside an active boss arena and help the host win. PlayStation Plus is required.
Unwelcome Guest
Use the Black Eye Stone and defeat a host. Do this after obtaining the Ally's Ring or restore a backup afterward, then return offline for controlled Tendency.

Missable Trophies in Demon's Souls
The 14 missables come from one-attempt conditions, Tendency events, the ending choice, and collection routing. A backup before each boss or major state change avoids another cycle.
Boletarian Palace
- One Shall Fall: Defeat Tower Knight without killing the archers.
- Brother-in-Arms: Rescue Biorr before fighting Penetrator.
- Legacy of the Kings: Combine Demonbrandt, Soulbrandt, and the False King Demon Soul at Blacksmith Ed.
Stonefang Tunnel
- Fists of Legend: Use the Hands of God for Dragon God's finishing damage.
Tower of Latria
- Time for Rolling: Cross the 3-1 arrow walkway before disabling the ballista.
- Not Fooled: Damage only the real Fool's Idol, identified by her larger projectile.
Yurt has no trophy, but leaving him alive can remove Freke, Urbain, Yuria, and other Nexus NPCs. Kill him after freeing him in 3-2 or when he reaches the Nexus.
Shrine of Storms
- One Shall Stand: Attack the bird from the upper level without striking Adjudicator's belly wound.
- Worthy of the Sword: Collect Makoto at Pure White World Tendency and give it to Satsuki.
Valley of Defilement
- May you be unharmed: Kill Maiden Astraea from range without killing Garl Vinland.
- One of the few: Use the Pure White path in 5-1 to collect Istarelle.
Nexus, Endings, and Collections
- Seekest soul power: Kill the Maiden at the ending, then restore for her good-ending soul.
- Sage's Trophy: Preserve boss souls and finish all 22 spells in NG+.
- Saint's Trophy: Use an NG+ backup before purchasing all 12 miracles.
- King of Rings: Complete the white, black, and Character Tendency ring rewards on one character.
Spells, Miracles and Rings
Sage's Trophy
All 22 spells must be held by one character. Rescue Freke and Yuria, buy the apprentice spells, and preserve named boss souls. Soulsucker requires the Maiden in Black Demon Soul from the good ending, so earn the bad-ending trophy from a backup.
Saint's Trophy
All 12 miracles must also be on one character. Rescue Urbain and keep the souls shared with spells. Recovery costs three Colorless Demon Souls and appears after your character has defeated a Primeval Demon.
Gather the remaining souls in NG+, back up, buy one complete set, restore, and buy the other. Boss souls cannot be traded to another player.
King of Rings
All 30 rings must be collected on one character. Prioritize the Ally's Ring, Foe's Ring, Sodden Ring, Dull Rat's Ring, and Providential Ring. Sparkly trades a Ring of Longevity for Pure Bladestone and a Ring of Uneven Scales for a Gold Coin.
The Dark Souls Remastered trophy guide spreads collection work across covenants and weapons, while Demon's Souls concentrates its risk in Tendency rings and limited boss souls.
Does Difficulty Affect Trophies and How Does NG+ Work?
Demon's Souls has no selectable difficulty, so no trophy depends on a setting. NG+ increases enemy health and damage while keeping your level, equipment, rings, spells, miracles, most inventory, and both Tendency systems. Story keys, bosses, shortcuts, and NPC rescues reset.
The ending moves you into the next cycle without normal free roam. Finish Tendency events, ring trades, and NPC cleanup before the final sequence unless you plan to do them in NG+.
Boss Strategies
Tower Knight and Penetrator
For One Shall Fall, ignore the archers, damage both ankles, step away as Tower Knight falls, then attack its head. For Brother-in-Arms, free Biorr and attack Penetrator from the side opposite him.
Dragon God and Fool's Idol
Use cover, break rubble while Dragon God looks away, and activate both ballistas. Finish the pinned boss with the Hands of God. Before Fool's Idol, kill the worshipper above the arena, then attack only the Idol firing the larger projectile.
Adjudicator and Maiden Astraea
Stay on Adjudicator's upper ledge and target the golden bird with arrows or magic. For Maiden Astraea, use the right-side ledge and enough arrows to kill her without engaging Garl Vinland.
Hardest Trophies and How to Get Them
Demon's Souls belongs among the hardest PlayStation platinums mainly because its routing is opaque. A soul checklist and verified backups remove most of the risk.
Sage's Trophy and Saint's Trophy
Track every boss soul, rescue the teachers again in NG+, and back up immediately before the final purchases. Unlock one collection, restore, then buy the other.
King of Rings
Finish Pure White events before Pure Black events. Take the Ally's Ring before lowering Character Tendency for the Foe's Ring, and secure the Gold Coin, Pure Bladestone, and Providential Ring early.
Boss Challenge Trophies
Back up before each challenge boss. A restore is faster than replaying its world in NG+.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to platinum Demon's Souls?
Expect 25-30 hours as an experienced Souls player or 50+ hours as a newcomer.
How hard is the Demon's Souls platinum?
It is about 5/10 for veterans and 7/10 for newcomers. Tendency and soul routing cause more trouble than most trophy conditions.
What is World and Character Tendency?
World Tendency changes events in each Archstone. Character Tendency controls global NPC rewards, so complete white events before black events.
How many playthroughs are needed to platinum Demon's Souls?
You need two cycles with save backups or three without them because spells and miracles share limited boss souls.
Are there online trophies in Demon's Souls?
Yes. Help win one co-op boss fight for Return to Form and defeat one host for Unwelcome Guest, then play offline.
Why should you save-scum the Maiden in Black?
Killing her unlocks Seekest soul power but removes her soul from that ending. Restore and take the good ending so Soulsucker remains available.
The Sekiro trophy guide is more execution-heavy, while Demon's Souls rewards control of Tendency, NPCs, and limited souls. For account-specific platinum cleanup, DamnModz offers PlayStation trophy services.
