Dead Island 2 belongs closer to the easiest Platinum trophies than the hardest lists. The combat is forgiving when you stay at the recommended quest level, nothing is missable, and almost every activity remains available after the story. Mandatory co-op is the only feature that prevents a fully offline completion.

Efficient route

Dead Island 2 Platinum Roadmap

1

Phase 1: Complete the Main Story and Stay On Level

Choose any Slayer. Character selection does not change the trophy list, and there is no difficulty option to manage.

The campaign contains 24 main quests. Complete available side quests whenever the recommended level starts moving ahead of yours. Dead Island 2 becomes noticeably harder when you are several levels below a quest, but normal progression keeps the route easy.

Co-op becomes available during Call the Cavalry, after the opening section around Emma Jaunt's mansion. You can leave the multiplayer trophies until later, though completing a few quests with another player now reduces the final cleanup.

Keep these habits during the story:

  • Kill uniquely named zombies and collect their keys.
  • Open nearby lockboxes instead of saving every key for the end.
  • Rotate between sharp, blunt, firearm, and thrown weapons.
  • Use Fire, Shock, and Caustic damage whenever the target is not immune.
  • Do not grind challenge counters before their categories have unlocked.

Blueprint Challenges begin tracking after the Autophage tutorial during The Giant-Slayer. A counter remaining at zero before that point is normal.

2

Phase 2: Finish Side Quests and Lost & Found Quests

After the story, complete all 33 side quests and all 15 Lost & Found quests. The trophies technically stop short of full non-story completion, but clearing everything is faster than trying to calculate which quest chains unlock later requirements.

This phase should provide:

  • 40 completed non-story quests for LA Influential
  • Five Lost & Found Weapon quests for Sharpest Tool in the Box
  • Nine Lost & Found Missing Person quests for Sole Survivor
  • At least one Legendary weapon for Ooh, Shiny!
  • Most base-game Zompedia entries
  • Enough experience to reach level 30 for Max Headroom

Finish normal side quests before Lost & Found cleanup because several later quests depend on earlier character or area progression.

3

Phase 3: Complete Challenges and Collectible Cleanup

Open the Challenges menu and check each trophy-related category. You only need the first tier of every challenge in the Zombie, Weapon, Combat, Survivor, and Exploration categories. Perks of the Job is different because it requires every tier of any five Blueprint Challenges.

Clean up these fixed requirements at the same time:

  • Unlock 10 lockboxes.
  • Collect 50 journals.
  • Collect 30 Skill Cards.
  • Reach the highest Autophage tier by equipping enough Autophage cards.
  • Fully upgrade one Superior weapon with a mod or perk in every slot.
  • Finish any remaining combat trophies.

The game contains far more journals and lockboxes than the trophies require. A thorough quest clear normally supplies Bookworm without a dedicated search for every journal in HELL-A.

4

Phase 4: Finish the Co-op Trophies

Complete any five quests in co-op for Slayer Squad, then revive another Slayer five times for I Am the Resurrection. These can be done with the same partner in one session.

The first tier of the Survivor Challenge Revival Act also needs a co-op revive. Completing I Am the Resurrection covers that requirement automatically, so finish the co-op pass before diagnosing an incomplete Survival Skills trophy.

Once the base challenge categories, level 30, quests, collectibles, and co-op requirements are complete, Who Do You Voodoo? unlocks.

Guide notes

Does Difficulty Affect Dead Island 2 Trophies?

No. The base campaign has one fixed difficulty, and there is no difficulty-related trophy. You can also use any Slayer, Skill Card combination, weapon mod, Curveball, Fury setup, or co-op assistance without disabling trophies.

New Game+ is harder, but its two trophies are in a separate add-on pack. Exporting a completed Slayer creates a separate NG+ save while leaving the original Standard save intact. The base Platinum never requires that second playthrough.

Unlike Dying Light: The Beast, Dead Island 2 does not ask you to clear a difficulty mode or protect a missable campaign route. Its challenge comes from covering many small combat objectives rather than surviving one demanding playthrough.

Guide notes

Missable Trophies in Dead Island 2

There are no missable base-game trophies. The story ends in free roam, every main region remains accessible, and unfinished quests can be completed after the credits. Fast travel also unlocks during the campaign and makes late cleanup much faster.

Dead Island 2 uses one autosave and does not provide manual save slots, but this does not create a trophy lockout. A missed key, journal, named zombie, lockbox, side quest, or combat opportunity can be handled later.

The same rule applies to Haus and SoLA. Both expansions allow post-story exploration, and their miscellaneous trophies can be cleaned up after their final missions.

Guide notes

Online and Co-op Trophy Notes

Dead Island 2 supports campaign co-op for up to three Slayers. PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 players can play together within the PlayStation ecosystem, but there is no full cross-platform play with Xbox or PC.

A player who is farther into the story can join a host with less progress. A player cannot normally join a session that has advanced beyond their own campaign point, so the least advanced player should host.

TrophyDirect RequirementFastest Method
Slayer SquadComplete any five quests in co-opSave five short side quests or Lost & Found quests, then complete them with one partner
I Am the ResurrectionRevive other Slayers five timesLet a partner be downed by weak zombies near a safe area, revive them, and repeat
Survival SkillsComplete the first tier of every Survivor ChallengeComplete at least one co-op revive for Revival Act, then finish the remaining Survivor first tiers
Who Do You Voodoo?Earn every base-game trophyThis becomes online-involved because the two co-op trophies are required

The co-op commitment is much lighter than the long multiplayer progression in World War Z. Five quests and five revives are enough, and campaign progress earned in the session is retained.

New Game+ and Standard saves use separate co-op pools. Both players must be using NG+ saves to play the NG+ campaign together.

Guide notes

Quest, Collectible, and Challenge Overview

Quest Requirements

Dead Island 2 has 24 main quests, 33 side quests, and 15 Lost & Found quests. The 48 non-story quests are the important group for trophy cleanup.

RequirementTrophyWhat You Need
10 non-story questsMaking Your MarkAny combination of side and Lost & Found quests
20 non-story questsRising StarContinue the same completion counter
40 non-story questsLA InfluentialComplete most of the 48 available non-story quests
5 Lost & Found Weapon questsSharpest Tool in the BoxFinish five weapon-focused Lost & Found cases
9 Missing Person questsSole SurvivorComplete every base-game Missing Person case

Completing all 48 non-story quests is recommended because it also exposes named zombies, Legendary weapons, journals, keys, Skill Cards, and Zompedia entries.

Collectible Requirements

The Platinum does not require full collectible completion.

CollectibleTrophy RequirementEfficient Approach
Journals50Quest rewards and normal exploration provide more than enough
Lockboxes10Loot keys from named zombies and open the matching nearby boxes
Skill Cards30Story progression, levelling, and quests supply these naturally
Zombie typesEvery base-game Zompedia typeComplete all quests and defeat each Common and Apex Variant at least once
Legendary weapons1Finish late side or Lost & Found quest chains

Zombologist covers the base-game Zompedia. Haus, SoLA, and New Game+ enemies are not needed for the original Platinum.

Challenge Requirements

Challenge categories unlock gradually. Finish the campaign and quest cleanup before grinding because late enemy variants, weapons, blueprints, and areas make most first tiers much easier.

Guide notes

General Tips for the Dead Island 2 Platinum

Match Your Level to the Quest

Quest level matters more than build perfection. Complete nearby side content when a main quest turns yellow or red, repair your best weapons, and level-match useful gear at workbenches when the damage gap becomes noticeable.

Rotate Damage Types and Weapon Profiles

Do not spend the whole game using one favorite blade. The challenge list rewards variety, so keep at least one sharp weapon, one high-Force blunt weapon, one firearm, and one elemental option ready.

Check enemy immunities before attacking. A Firefighter resists Fire, a Hazmat zombie resists Caustic damage, and an Electric Walker can punish careless Shock use. Switching to physical damage is faster than forcing an immune element.

Use Environment Kills Early

Fuel, water, batteries, exposed wires, and Caustic-X pools contribute toward elemental and combat progress. Environmental traps also thin groups without consuming weapon durability.

Keep One Superior Weapon for This is My Weapon

Do not spend rare materials upgrading every weapon. Save one Superior weapon you enjoy, match it to your level, install the highest available mod, and fill each perk slot. The trophy unlocks once every available slot is occupied and the weapon is fully upgraded.

Leave Focused Challenge Grinding Until Last

Many trackers depend on later tutorials or enemy types. Story, side quests, Lost & Found cases, and co-op should come first. Your final menu review will then show a much shorter list of genuine cleanup tasks.

Guide notes

Best Loadout for Trophy Cleanup

There is no mandatory build, but a flexible loadout reduces weapon swapping and travel.

  • Carry a high-Force blunt weapon for knockdowns, finishers, and Apex Predator.
  • Carry a fast Maiming blade for Break a Leg and limb-based challenges.
  • Keep separate Fire, Shock, and Caustic weapons for Hazardous Materials and Blueprint Challenge progress.
  • Keep a powerful rifle or shotgun for killing a Mutator before it transforms.
  • Equip a reliable block or dodge card and practice perfect timing for I Got a Zombie Army and You Can't Harm Me.
  • Keep Shuriken available for challenge objectives that require several limbs or targets in one throw.

Fury is also useful during cleanup. Enter a dense group, build a chain of 50 Fury kills for Anger Management, then return to a safe zone to adjust cards for another challenge category.

Hardest Trophies and How to Get Them

01

Bucket List

Bucket List requires the first tier of every Combat Challenge. Check the menu after finishing the story and work through the incomplete entries one by one instead of repeating general combat without a target.

The awkward objectives become easier in low-level areas such as Bel-Air and Beverly Hills because basic Walkers survive long enough to group and position. Use weak weapons when an objective needs several hits, kicks, limbs, or status effects rather than immediate kills.

For the Ninja challenge, group at least three basic zombies in a narrow space and throw Shuriken across their legs or arms. The attack must maim three targets in one use, so dense groups and low-health enemies give the best chance.

02

Survival Skills

Survival Skills is usually the last category trophy because its objectives cover money, crafting, revival, survival, and general progression.

Hollywood Rich List tracks total money earned over the save rather than the amount currently held. Loot weapons, sell unwanted gear, and continue normal quest cleanup. Do not hoard one million dollars in your inventory.

Revival Act requires reviving another Slayer. Complete the five revives for I Am the Resurrection first, then check the remaining Survivor first tiers.

03

Perks of the Job

Blueprint Challenges do not track until their tutorial appears during The Giant-Slayer. After that point, choose five challenges that match normal combat rather than trying to finish all seven.

Easy options include repeated heavy attacks, melee kills, knockdowns, Bleed application, Fire status, Shock status, and collecting zombie parts. Build separate weapons around the five chosen goals and keep using them through side quests until every tier is complete.

04

Donk!

Find a long, flat road with a basic Walker or Shambler at the far end. Back away until the target is clearly beyond 35 metres, aim above the upper body to account for the throw arc, and use a melee weapon with a visible flight path.

A hit is enough. The throw does not need to kill the zombie. Slow enemies are better because Runners can move out of the arc after the weapon leaves your hand.

05

Not Even My Final Form

Visit a Mutator Hot Spot after the enemy type has been introduced. Approach without alerting the target, identify the apparently normal zombie that will mutate, then use a high-damage rifle, shotgun, or Fury burst before the transformation completes.

A fully upgraded firearm and a headshot make this much more consistent than trying it during the first scripted Mutator encounter.

Guide notes

Dead Island 2 DLC and New Game+ Trophies

Haus, SoLA, and the New Game+ pack add 14 trophies, bringing the current list to 60. None of them is required for Who Do You Voodoo?.

Haus Trophy List

Haus contains six trophies and usually takes around 2-3 hours after the base story. Nothing is missable.

TrophyTierHow to Unlock
One of UsGoldComplete the Haus story and receive Konstantin's gift.
Pork ChoppedSilverDefeat Long Piglet during the Haus story.
Whatever It TakesBronzeComplete the three Rites of Passage in Haus.
WilhelmBronzeKnock 15 zombies into the bottomless pits in The Deeper.
Top That, Tisha!BronzeLand five Crossbow headshots in quick succession.
Lawn and OrderSilverMaim 10 zombies with gardening equipment while fighting in the Cul-De-Sac's tall grass.

For Wilhelm, equip a kick with strong knockback and lure zombies close to the pit edge before attacking. For Top That, Tisha!, line up basic zombies against a fence and use a Crossbow with faster reload speed.

SoLA Trophy List

SoLA contains six trophies and usually takes around 3-4 hours. The three story trophies are automatic, and the other three remain available after the expansion story.

TrophyTierHow to Unlock
Drop The BeatGoldDefeat The Dirge and silence the Beat.
No EncoresSilverHelp Grace by suppressing the Beat. Story-related.
Three's a CrowdBronzeSurvive the first Clotter encounter. Story-related.
The Direct ApproachBronzeHit five zombies in one use of the Ram ability.
Rip 'n' TearSilverKill five zombies with a supercharged Ripper and bisect five with the Sawblade Launcher.
Festival Clean Up SimulatorBronzeStop and wash away the large Caustic-X spill in Utopia.

The Direct Approach is easiest in an open festival area. Gather a group, create one straight line, then begin the charge far enough away to reach full momentum. Rip 'n' Tear can be completed after the final story mission once both required weapons are available.

New Game+ Trophy List

New Game+ adds one complete second-playthrough trophy and one Revenant hunt. It is only needed for 100% completion.

TrophyTierHow to Unlock
Groundhog SlaySilverComplete every base-game story quest in New Game+.
Shoulda Stayed DeadBronzeKill all 10 Revenants in New Game+.

Start NG+ with a level 30 Slayer and move important weapons into the character's inventory before exporting. Skill Cards, level, and carried inventory transfer, but keys, journals, and weapons left in the Storage Locker do not.

Kill each Revenant when its region becomes available and collect its named weapon drop. There are 10 in total, with one tied to each base-game map. Tracking them during the story is safer than leaving every Revenant for a final sweep.

Neighborhood Watch has no trophies and is not part of either the Platinum or the 100% route.

Quick answers

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to Platinum Dead Island 2?

The Platinum usually takes around 25-35 hours, including the story, all useful side content, challenge cleanup, and a short co-op session.

How hard is the Dead Island 2 Platinum?

It is about 3/10. Staying close to each quest's recommended level makes combat easy, while the last few hours are mostly challenge and collectible cleanup.

Are there missable trophies in Dead Island 2?

No. All base-game regions and unfinished quests remain available after the story, and none of the combat trophies has a one-time opportunity.

Does Dead Island 2 have online trophies?

Yes. Slayer Squad and I Am the Resurrection directly require co-op. Survival Skills also needs at least one co-op revive through a Survivor Challenge, which makes the Platinum online-involved.

Can Dead Island 2 be played cross-platform for trophies?

PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 players can use cross-generation co-op. PlayStation players cannot join Xbox or PC sessions.

How many playthroughs are needed for the Dead Island 2 Platinum?

One base-game playthrough is enough. New Game+ has two separate add-on trophies and is not required for the Platinum.

What is the hardest trophy in Dead Island 2?

Bucket List is the broadest cleanup trophy because it requires the first tier of every Combat Challenge. Donk! is the most awkward single action because of its 35-metre throwing distance.

Are Dead Island 2 trophies glitched?

There are no consistently glitched base trophies on the current patch. Early issues affecting Max Headroom and Perks of the Job were fixed, so old launch warnings no longer describe the normal route.

Does PS4 progress unlock trophies on PS5?

Yes. Importing a compatible PS4 save into the PS5 version can unlock the earned trophies, including the Platinum. The transfer works from PS4 to PS5, not in reverse.

Are Haus, SoLA, or New Game+ required for the Platinum?

No. All 14 add-on trophies are separate from the 46-trophy base list.

Is Dead Island 2 more demanding than other online horror Platinums?

No. Its co-op tasks are short and controlled, unlike the repeated competitive match requirements found in Dead by Daylight. Most of Dead Island 2 is a solo quest and challenge cleanup.

Dead Island 2 is a straightforward Platinum once you treat quests as the main progression path and challenges as the final checklist. Complete the campaign, clear every side and Lost & Found quest, finish five co-op quests and revives, then use the in-game challenge menu to close the remaining gaps.
