Efficient route

Dead Cells Trophy Guide and Platinum Roadmap

Follow these phases in order to protect the missable work and keep the Dead Cells Platinum cleanup efficient.

1

Phase 1: Learn the game and unlock the runes

Play freely. Nothing is missable, death is the core mechanic, and there is no multiplayer.

Invest cells in the forge as you go. Better equipment on each run makes everything later considerably easier.

Acquire all runes, since they gate access to the 17 biomes and 20 trophies depend on reaching them.

Do not unlock the Cursed Sword yet. Leaving it locked keeps that trophy off RNG until you are ready.

Beat each of the four bosses for the first time as you progress.

2

Phase 2: The Boss Stem Cell progression

Work up to finishing the game with four Boss Stem Cells active. Only four are required, not five.

Each step up is a meaningful jump, but if you reached this point you are capable of the next one.

The fifth Boss Stem Cell is a later addition and is optional, so stop at four unless you want it for its own sake.

Doing this before the weapon-restricted runs is deliberate. After four Stem Cells, playing with none is a cakewalk.

3

Phase 3: The four no-damage boss kills

Concierge, Conjunctivius, Time Keeper and Hand of the King, each without taking a single hit. This is the platinum.

Remember Concierge and Conjunctivius cannot appear in the same run, so budget separate attempts for each.

For the Time Keeper, you can parry her charged attack with a shield if you time it right, including when caught in her chains.

This is the skill wall and it is where most attempts stall. One soft mention of DamnModz fits here, then back to strategy.

4

Phase 4: The restricted runs and the platinum

Finish the game with the starter sword, bow or shield, and complete the Cursed Sword run.

Unlock the Cursed Sword now, then play through with your preferred weapons and pick it up just before the final boss.

Clear the remaining oddities, the elevator kill, the Challenge Rift and the secret zones.

With four Stem Cells behind you, these runs are comfortable rather than punishing.

Guide notes

You Only Need Four Boss Stem Cells

First section after the Quick Info box. The fifth Boss Stem Cell is a later addition and is not required for the platinum. Stating this plainly is the single most valuable line on the page.

Guide notes

Do Not Unlock the Cursed Sword Yet

One trophy requires finishing the game with the Cursed Sword. If you leave it locked until you are ready, you can play through with your preferred weapons and pick the sword up just before the final boss, rather than relying on RNG to hand it to you at the wrong moment. This is a decision made many hours before the trophy matters.

Guide notes

Two Bosses Cannot Share a Run

Encountering every boss in a single run is impossible, so The Concierge and Conjunctivius must be attempted on separate runs. That doubles the attempts needed for the no-hit trophies and it is the reason this list takes so long.

Efficient route

The Four No-Damage Boss Kills

, an H3 each. Concierge, Conjunctivius, Time Keeper and Hand of the King, each beaten without taking a single hit. These are the whole difficulty of the platinum. Include the Time Keeper parry tip, her charged attack can be parried with a shield if timed correctly, even when you are caught in her chains.

1

Order Matters, Do the Hard Runs First

After beating the game with four Boss Stem Cells active, playing with none is straightforward. So clear the Stem Cell progression before the easier weapon-restricted runs rather than after.

Guide notes

All 17 Biomes and the Runes

Twenty trophies relate to exploring every biome and defeating the four bosses. All runes are needed to reach every area, so rune acquisition gates a large part of the list.

Efficient route

The Honest Difficulty Range

The leading guide moved from 6 to 7 out of 10 because of the Boss Stem Cell runs, while community voices argue for 10. Publish the range with the reasoning, and note that one player fought the Hand of the King 35 times before winning. That honesty is worth more than a single confident number.

1

The Forge and Cell Investment

The more cells invested in the forge, the better your equipment on each run.

2

The Legacy Rollback

An update allowing a rollback to the launch version appeared on Steam and it was unclear whether it reached PlayStation or whether it affects trophies. Verify before mentioning it as an option.

Guide notes

Dead Cells Missable, Glitched, and Difficulty Notes

  • No missable trophies. Death is the core mechanic and nothing can be permanently locked out.
  • The fifth Boss Stem Cell is a later addition and is not required for the platinum. Only four are needed.
  • Encountering all bosses in a single run is impossible, so The Concierge and Conjunctivius must be attempted on separate runs.
  • The Cursed Sword trophy is far easier if you leave that weapon locked until you are ready, so it is not handed to you by RNG at the wrong time.
  • The four no-damage boss kills are the entire difficulty of this list. One player reports 35 attempts on the Hand of the King.
  • There are no online trophies and no multiplayer.
  • PS4 and PS5 have separate lists, and EU and NA are separate entries, so multiple platinums are available.
  • A Legacy update allowing a rollback to the launch version appeared on Steam. Whether it reached PlayStation and whether it affects trophies was unresolved, so verify before relying on it.

Quick answers

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you need 5 Boss Stem Cells for the Dead Cells platinum?

No, only four. The fifth Boss Stem Cell is a later addition and is not required, which makes the platinum considerably more approachable than most people assume.

How hard is the Dead Cells platinum?

The leading guide rates it 7 out of 10, revised up from 6 because of the Boss Stem Cell runs, and some players argue for 10. The four no-damage boss kills are the whole difficulty.

How long does it take to platinum Dead Cells?

Between 50 and 97 hours depending on the source and how quickly you land the no-hit boss fights.

Can you fight all Dead Cells bosses in one run?

No. Encountering every boss in a single run is impossible, so The Concierge and Conjunctivius have to be attempted on separate runs.

When should you unlock the Cursed Sword in Dead Cells?

As late as possible. If it stays locked until you are ready, you can play through with your preferred weapons and pick it up just before the final boss instead of relying on RNG.

Are there missable trophies in Dead Cells?

None. Death is the core mechanic of the game and nothing can be permanently locked out.

How do you beat the Time Keeper without taking damage?

Her charged attack can be parried with a shield if you time it correctly, including when you are caught in her chains. That removes the main source of unavoidable-looking damage.

Do Dead Cells trophies stack?

Yes. PS4 and PS5 have separate lists, and the EU and NA versions are separate entries too, so multiple platinums are available.
