Quick Answer
- Matriarch: choose a map carrying the Matriarch event and destroy the boss.
- Queen: choose a map carrying the Harvester condition and destroy the Queen guarding it.
- Deliveries: bring one Queen Reactor and one Matriarch Reactor to Apollo.
- Combat warning: the Matriarch can use all of her ranged attacks again after the Frozen Trail update.
- Rewards: 10,000 XP, one Queen Reactor, one Matriarch Reactor and one Bettina III. Bonus reward: Bronze Statuette x1.
Requirements
- Complete Nothing Ventured in ARC Raiders and accept Nothing Gained from Apollo.
- Collect the two Deadlines given when you accept the quest.
- Deploy into the appropriate boss event rather than a normal instance of the same map.
- Prepare an armor-damaging weapon, sufficient ammunition, healing and shield restoration.
- Consider bringing a squad for support during the fight, without treating squad size as a quest requirement.
Check the map conditions guide before selecting your deployment. The maps hub can help you plan your approach and a route away from the boss arena.
What Changed in Frozen Trail
The Frozen Trail update moved higher-tier Queen and Matriarch loot out of their leg armor pieces and into the leg pieces those plates protect. Detached armor can still contain some loot, but it is not the same loot target as the underlying leg.
The same update restored the Matriarch's full set of ranged attacks. A route that depends on her staying quiet at a distance is a poor fight plan.
Older plate-only guides can point you at the wrong loot target for higher-tier salvage. Distinguish the plate from the leg rather than treating any broken armor as the same container.
How to Find and Destroy the Matriarch
Where to Look on Each Map
Look for the Matriarch event on Dam Battlegrounds, Blue Gate or Spaceport. Use the active event location on your deployment map to guide the approach.
| Map | Search Area |
|---|---|
| Dam Battlegrounds | The Water Towers area. |
| Blue Gate | Near the Ridgeline, south of the Warehouse Complex. |
| Spaceport | Between Rocket Assembly and the Launch Towers. |
Prepare for Her Ranged Attacks
The Matriarch's threats include rockets, gas and flashbang attacks, alongside the other ARC drawn into the encounter. Fight from a position with another piece of cover within reach, so one attack does not trap you in the open.
Break the Core Armor and Focus the Exposed Core
- Fight from cover at range and line up shots on the armor covering the Matriarch's core.
- Break that covering armor to expose the core.
- Concentrate fire on the exposed core whenever you have a clear shot.
- For an optional advanced approach, use a Snap Hook to get onto the Matriarch, remove the armor covering the core and fire into the exposed core.
- Keep repositioning around ranged attacks and continue the fight until the Matriarch is destroyed.
Find the Matriarch Reactor After the Fight
After the fight, distinguish detached leg armor from the severed leg piece it protected. Search the leg piece and remaining wreckage, then check the item name in the loot list for a Matriarch Reactor. Detached armor can still contain some loot.
Choose the Matriarch boss kill service for support with the encounter and its loot.
How to Find and Destroy the Queen
Find the Harvester Condition
The Queen guards a Harvester during the Harvester condition. Look for that condition on Dam Battlegrounds, Blue Gate or Spaceport and approach the Harvester location shown for your deployment.
Watch the Mortars, Laser and Close-Range Attacks
The Queen's mortars leave dangerous fire, her laser attacks threaten exposed ground, and her close-range attacks punish staying beneath her. Keep moving between cover instead of holding a position directly beside a leg.
She can also fire into a Harvester node and electrify the interior while Raiders are inside. Entering the Harvester is not a way to ignore the Queen outside.
Target the Core Leg Joints
- Locate the Queen at the active Harvester and choose cover outside her immediate close-range threat.
- Break through leg protection and target the exposed core joints.
- Move away from mortar impacts and out of the laser's path between attacks.
- Continue attacking vulnerable parts until the Queen is destroyed.
- Search the wreckage, keeping leg pieces separate from the armor plates that came off them.
Find the Queen Reactor After the Fight
Once the Queen is destroyed, distinguish detached leg armor from the severed leg piece it protected. Search the leg piece and remaining wreckage, then check the item name in the loot list for a Queen Reactor. Detached armor can still contain some loot.
For help with this encounter, choose the Queen Kill + All Loot Harvester boost rather than the Harvester-loot-only package.
Does Everyone Get Credit for the Kill?
Dealing damage or helping in a shared fight does not guarantee personal kill credit. Plan with your squad for you or a teammate to land the finishing damage. Aim to stay alive and engaged until the boss is destroyed. Check your own Destroy completion ticks for both the Queen and Matriarch rather than assuming a squad kill counted for you.
- Before leaving, check the Queen and Matriarch entries separately in your Nothing Gained tracker.
- Look for the completion tick on each boss entry and note any unfinished objective.
- Looting a Reactor or completing the Harvester puzzle does not mean your personal Destroy objective is complete.
Deliver Both Reactors
The delivery list contains two distinct items. Reactor delivery can be completed before the two Destroy objectives, but all four objectives are still required.
| Item | Quantity | Recipient |
|---|---|---|
| Queen Reactor | 1 | Apollo |
| Matriarch Reactor | 1 | Apollo |
Keep the required Reactor items available for the hand-ins rather than spending them on crafting before the delivery objectives are complete.
If you already have either Reactor, check its quest hand-in before discarding it or looking for a duplicate.
- Visit Apollo in Speranza and open Nothing Gained.
- Inspect the Queen Reactor and Matriarch Reactor delivery rows and check whether the Deliver action is available for each.
- Use Deliver on the matching row to hand in the correct named Reactor when the action is available.
- Check that both delivery rows have completion ticks.
- Claim the reward only once both Destroy objectives and both Reactor deliveries are complete.
Both the Queen Reactor and the Matriarch Reactor can be placed in a Safe Pocket. When you loot a Reactor you still need to deliver, move one into an available Safe Pocket slot and keep it for Apollo.
How to Extract and Turn In
After collecting a Reactor, leave the boss area and head for an active return point with the item in your inventory. Choose the exit from your deployment map rather than assuming the same return point is available for every event.
After a successful extract, visit Apollo in Speranza, deliver the Reactors through the quest and claim the reward once all four required objectives are complete.
Rewards
| Reward | Type | Note |
|---|---|---|
| 10,000 XP | Experience | Quest completion XP. |
| 1 Queen Reactor | Material | One Reactor in the completion reward bundle. |
| 1 Matriarch Reactor | Material | One Reactor in the completion reward bundle. |
| 1 Bettina III | Weapon | Tier III reward. |
| Bronze Statuette x1 | Bonus reward | One bonus item. |
The Queen Reactor and Matriarch Reactor you hand in return in the item reward bundle.
Queen Reactors are used to craft the Equalizer and Jupiter, while Matriarch Reactors are used for the Aphelion.
The Whole Chain
Nothing Ventured in ARC Raiders comes first, followed by Nothing Gained, the end of this Apollo quest chain. The first quest focuses on Comets, Rocketeers, Sentinels and ARC materials, while the second moves you into the two boss encounters.
Return to the ARC Raiders quests hub to choose another objective after claiming the boss-quest rewards.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can Two Queen Reactors Replace the Matriarch Reactor?
No. The quest has a separate delivery objective for each named Reactor, so two copies of one item do not satisfy that list.
Does Completing the Harvester Puzzle Replace Killing the Queen?
No. The quest explicitly asks you to destroy the Queen, not just complete the Harvester's interior activity.
Do the Bosses Have to Be Killed With Deadlines?
No specific weapon is named in either destroy objective. The two Deadlines are supplies given on acceptance, not a stated weapon restriction.
