Rockstar has built a major PC business around GTA V and RDR2. That history makes a later PC version reasonable to expect, but expectation is not an announcement. Until Rockstar names the platform and date, no month or year should be presented as likely.
This is also why “not coming to PC at launch” should not be shortened to “not coming to PC.” The first statement is confirmed by the launch platform list. The second would claim Rockstar has ruled out a future port, which it has not.

The gaps vary widely. RDR2 reached PC sooner than GTA V did from its original console launch, but a handful of releases is not a reliable trend line. GTA IV was much faster, while GTA V’s original-console-to-PC gap was much longer. That spread is exactly why historical averages should not be sold as a GTA 6 window.

The “Sooner Than Expected” Comment, and What It Actually Is
On 4 September 2026, VGC editor Andy Robinson said there was “a bit of noise” about the PC version arriving sooner than some people expect, then added that he thought Rockstar might move it up. He did not present a date or identify an informant. Treat it as informed commentary from an experienced editor, not a leak or a Rockstar report.
Robinson connected the idea to expensive current-generation consoles and market conditions. That is a plausible business argument, but it does not narrow the release date.
The wording matters because a credible industry figure can still be giving an opinion. “I think they’ll push it up” is not the same thing as “Rockstar plans to release it in a particular month.” This page preserves that distinction instead of converting podcast discussion into a release window.

Why the Old “Early 2026” Claim Is Obsolete
In February 2025, a Corsair financial-call comment suggested an early-2026 PC arrival while GTA 6 still had a fall-2025 console target. PC Gamer’s 21 February report attributed that comment to finance executive Ronald van Veen, not CEO Andy Paul, and reported Corsair’s clarification to IGN that it was speculation with no release target supplied by Rockstar or Take-Two. That old guess is not current guidance.
The console schedule has since moved to 19 November 2026. Recycling a forecast tied to the abandoned fall-2025 plan does not supply evidence for a new PC window. This is why the calendar table above contains scenarios rather than predictions.
How You Will Know the PC Version Is Real
- Rockstar publishes a formal announcement.
- A Rockstar Store or Rockstar Games Launcher listing appears.
- Steam or Epic Games Store pages appear.
- A legitimate PC rating entry appears in the normal release process.
- Rockstar publishes official system requirements.
- PC pre-orders open through official storefronts.
None of those signals exists as of 19 September 2026. A real announcement should produce several of these signals close together, which is more reliable than a screenshot or retailer placeholder appearing alone.

There is no official PC build available to download today. A site claiming to offer a GTA 6 PC installer is offering something other than the released game. Avoid executables, surveys and login prompts built around that claim.
Will GTA 6 Be on Steam, Epic or the Rockstar Launcher?
Nothing is listed today. Rockstar has not announced GTA 6 PC storefronts or a PC pre-order.
Rockstar’s 4 October 2019 announcement set out the RDR2 sequence: Launcher pre-purchases began on 9 October, other stores including Epic could take pre-orders from 23 October, and the PC game launched on 5 November. Steam followed on 5 December 2019, as Rockstar’s Newswire archive records. That was staggered pre-order and storefront availability, not a rule that every PC store launched on a different day. GTA V is also broadly distributed on PC today, but none of this announces a GTA 6 listing.
Storefront order matters only after Rockstar announces the port. Before that point, a Steam wishlist page, key listing or download button hosted elsewhere is not evidence of a real release.
