GTA 6 System Requirements: What Is Confirmed and What Is Fake
Updated 19 September 2026. Rockstar has not published GTA 6 system requirements because no PC version has been announced. Every GTA 6 minimum or recommended PC sheet circulating publicly is unofficial. The useful numbers are the hardware of its confirmed launch consoles and Rockstar’s real requirements for existing PC releases. This guide explains those tables, how to recognise an authentic announcement and why buying a new graphics card for an unannounced port is premature.
Quick Info
- No official GTA 6 PC system requirements exist as of 19 September 2026.
- No PC version is announced and no official public PC requirement sheet is available.
- GTA 6 launches on current PlayStation and Xbox hardware. Those consoles are the only verified hardware baseline.
- Rockstar’s published PC sheets for GTA V, RDR2 and GTA V Enhanced show how its requirement format works.
- Do not upgrade a PC specifically for GTA 6 until Rockstar publishes real PC requirements.
Has Rockstar Published GTA 6 PC System Requirements?
No. Rockstar has announced GTA 6 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on 19 November 2026, with no PC version listed. Our GTA 6 PC release guide explains why PC is expected later and why there is still no date.
When real requirements exist, expect them to appear through Rockstar Support, Rockstar’s own announcement channels and official PC storefront listings. A real sheet will name the operating system, processor, graphics card, memory and storage requirement in a consistent format.
The GTA 6 Minimum Requirements Going Round Are Not Real
Rockstar has announced no PC version, PC storefront page or PC pre-order. That does not tell us which development builds exist internally. It does mean that circulating “official” minimum and recommended lists cannot be authenticated against a public Rockstar requirement sheet and must not be treated as confirmed.
You may also see “RAGE 9” used as though Rockstar published that engine version number. Rockstar has not presented a GTA 6 PC requirement sheet using that label. The practical fake check is simpler: no matching Rockstar Support entry, no real PC storefront listing and no coherent platform announcement means the list is not official.
The Hardware GTA 6 Is Confirmed to Run On
The table describes console hardware, not GTA 6 PC requirements. PlayStation specifications follow Sony’s hardware documentation. Xbox specifications follow Microsoft’s published hardware specifications, with the Series S CPU range taken from its September 2020 launch fact sheet. Storage varies by console model.
| Platform | CPU | GPU compute | Memory | Internal storage |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PS5 | x86-64 AMD Ryzen Zen 2, 8 cores / 16 threads, up to 3.5 GHz | 10.3 TFLOPS, AMD Radeon RDNA 2-based graphics engine | 16 GB GDDR6 | 825 GB SSD |
| PS5 Pro | x86-64 AMD Ryzen Zen 2, 8 cores / 16 threads | 16.7 TFLOPS, AMD Radeon RDNA-based graphics engine | 16 GB GDDR6 plus 2 GB DDR5 | 2 TB custom SSD |
| Xbox Series X | 8-core custom Zen 2, 3.8 GHz or 3.6 GHz with SMT | 12 TFLOPS, 52 CUs at 1.825 GHz | 16 GB GDDR6 | 1 TB NVMe SSD on standard models |
| Xbox Series S | 8-core custom Zen 2, 3.6 GHz or 3.4 GHz with SMT (launch hardware) | 4 TFLOPS, 20 CUs at 1.565 GHz | 10 GB GDDR6 | 512 GB or 1 TB NVMe SSD |
The console baseline tells us something about the architecture Rockstar is targeting without telling us a PC minimum. Current consoles use eight-core Zen 2 class CPUs, pooled system memory and SSD storage. On PC, the same workload is split across system RAM, VRAM, Windows overhead, drivers and a wider range of hardware.
Series S is the clearest scaling point because Microsoft lists a 4 TFLOPS GPU and 10 GB of GDDR6 memory. GTA 6 is still a confirmed Series S title, so Rockstar is building the console version to scale across a wide current-generation range. That is evidence of scalability, not permission to translate Series S into a PC graphics-card prediction.
What the Console Specs Do Not Tell You
Console and PC requirements do not map one to one. Consoles use fixed hardware, tightly controlled software and game-specific optimization. A PC minimum also depends on target resolution, image quality, frame rate and operating-system overhead, none of which Rockstar has defined for a GTA 6 PC version.
How Rockstar Has Set PC Requirements Before
Grand Theft Auto V: April 2015 PC Launch
Rockstar published the original PC requirements on 13 January 2015, before the 14 April PC release. This historical launch table is intentionally separate from today’s GTA V Legacy support requirements, which now list newer operating-system support and a larger install footprint.
| Tier | OS | CPU | GPU | RAM | Storage |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum | Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7 SP1 or Windows Vista SP2, 64-bit | Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.40 GHz / AMD Phenom 9850 Quad-Core 2.5 GHz | NVIDIA 9800 GT 1 GB / AMD HD 4870 1 GB | 4 GB | 65 GB HDD |
| Recommended | Windows 8.1, Windows 8 or Windows 7 SP1, 64-bit | Intel Core i5-3470 3.2 GHz / AMD FX-8350 4 GHz | NVIDIA GTX 660 2 GB / AMD HD 7870 2 GB | 8 GB | 65 GB HDD |
The original launch sheet shows why dates matter. The processor and graphics-card tiers remained familiar in later Legacy support material, while the listed storage requirement grew from 65 GB at launch to 125 GB as the game and GTA Online expanded.
Red Dead Redemption 2: November 2019 PC Launch
Rockstar’s 9 October 2019 Newswire announcement published this launch-era sheet. It is a historical comparison, not advice to use an operating system that is no longer supported today.
| Tier | OS | CPU | GPU | RAM | Storage |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum | Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (6.1.7601), historical launch minimum | Intel Core i5-2500K / AMD FX-6300 | GTX 770 2 GB / R9 280 3 GB | 8 GB | 150 GB HDD |
| Recommended | Windows 10 April 2018 Update (v1803) | Intel Core i7-4770K / AMD Ryzen 5 1500X | GTX 1060 6 GB / RX 480 4 GB | 12 GB | 150 GB HDD |
RDR2’s published sheet shows a large storage footprint and a broad gap between minimum and recommended graphics hardware. Again, it is historical evidence only.
Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced: March 2025 PC Release
The minimum and recommended tiers below are from Rockstar Support’s 10 December 2025 revision, checked on 19 September 2026. That accessible sheet does not publish a separate ray-tracing hardware tier, so none is invented here.
| Tier | OS | CPU | GPU | RAM | Storage |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum | Windows 10 build 1909 or above | Intel Core i7-4770 / AMD FX-9590 | GTX 1630 4 GB / RX 6400 4 GB | 8 GB | 105 GB SSD required |
| Recommended | Windows 11 | Intel Core i5-9600K / AMD Ryzen 5 3600 | RTX 3060 8 GB / RX 6600 XT 8 GB | 16 GB dual-channel | 105 GB DirectStorage-compatible drive |
GTA V Enhanced is Rockstar’s most recent GTA PC baseline. Its minimum requires an SSD, while recommended calls for a DirectStorage-compatible drive. It also demonstrates how Rockstar updates hardware guidance when a release adds newer rendering features.
The Pattern
Across these real sheets, Rockstar publishes conservative minimums, more capable recommended configurations and explicit storage requirements. The important caveat is that GTA 6 is a much newer technical target. Three historical sheets cannot be converted into a reliable GTA 6 CPU or GPU list.
They are still useful for format. Rockstar separates minimum from recommended, gives explicit memory and storage lines, and updates support pages when requirements change. That gives readers a concrete way to recognize the real GTA 6 sheet when it eventually exists.
What Your PC Can Learn From This Today
The closest practical benchmark is how your system handles GTA V Enhanced and RDR2 at the settings and resolution you actually use. Strong performance in those games is useful context, not a guarantee for GTA 6.
Storage is the safest area to prepare because the console versions are designed around SSDs and large current-generation assets. The exact GTA 6 install footprint is still unknown, so our GTA 6 file size guide keeps the storage question separate from fake PC specifications.
Should You Upgrade Your PC for GTA 6 Yet?
No. There is no PC date and no official requirement sheet. Buying a GPU around an invented list can leave you paying early for the wrong performance target.
If you are already upgrading for other games, more SSD capacity and sensible system-memory headroom are generally useful purchases, but they should not be sold to you as “GTA 6 requirements.”
Waiting also protects you from buying against the wrong target. A future PC build could expose different quality tiers, storage behavior or rendering options than the console release. Rockstar’s own sheet, not a speculative shopping list, is the point where component decisions become evidence-based.
Until then, any page that assigns a specific unannounced processor or graphics card to GTA 6 is making a forecast rather than reporting a requirement.
Where the Typical Gaming PC Sits Right Now
Valve’s August 2026 Steam Hardware & Software Survey was the latest published month available when checked on 19 September 2026. Across the combined survey, the leading physical-CPU count was eight at 28.04%, while 16 GB was the largest system-RAM category at 41.20%. These describe participants, not GTA 6 compatibility.
| Survey measure | August 2026 result | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Most common listed GPU | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060, 3.76% | Valve survey share, not a recommended card |
| 8 GB VRAM | 25.74% | Video-memory distribution |
| 12 GB VRAM | 12.99% | Video-memory distribution |
| 16 GB VRAM | 26.92% | Largest listed VRAM category |
The survey is voluntary and changes monthly. A common configuration is not necessarily fast enough for a future game, and an uncommon configuration is not necessarily unsuitable. We will refresh the survey alongside the announcement checks rather than turn popularity into a requirements prediction.
How This Page Will Change
When Rockstar announces a PC version, this page will add the confirmed date. When Rockstar publishes the requirement sheet, the official minimum and recommended table will move to the top on the same day and the fake-sheet discussion will become secondary.
FAQ
What are the official GTA 6 PC system requirements?
There are none. Rockstar has not announced a GTA 6 PC version or published a PC requirement sheet as of 19 September 2026.
Are the leaked GTA 6 system requirements real?
No circulating GTA 6 PC requirement sheet is official. With no announced PC build, treat screenshots and minimum or recommended lists as unofficial.

Nobody can answer that reliably yet. The best current benchmark is how your PC handles Rockstar’s existing PC games, not a predicted GTA 6 GPU list.
Will GTA 6 need an SSD on PC?
Rockstar has not published a PC storage requirement. An SSD is the sensible assumption because the launch consoles use SSD storage, but it is not yet an official GTA 6 PC requirement.
How much RAM will GTA 6 need?
Rockstar has not said. Any GTA 6 PC RAM number online is currently an estimate, not an official requirement.
What were the RDR2 PC system requirements?
Rockstar lists 8 GB RAM and 150 GB storage for the minimum tier and 12 GB RAM with 150 GB storage for recommended. The official comparison table above contains the processor and graphics-card models.
Is GTA 6 coming to PC?
Not at console launch. Take-Two says Rockstar starts on console, and a PC version is expected later, but no PC date has been announced.
Will GTA 6 have ray tracing on PC?
Rockstar has not announced a PC version or graphics feature list, so PC ray tracing is not confirmed.
Should I buy a new GPU for GTA 6?
Not specifically for GTA 6 yet. There is no official PC date or requirement sheet to buy against.
