Quick Answer
Stable Housing is a third-floor, fourth-floor, third-floor loop inside the Security Bridge.
- Find the safe on floor 3 in the room opposite the stairwell.
- Use the card printer on floor 4; it is meant to malfunction.
- Return to floor 3 and inspect the notice board to unlock the safe.
- Take the Project Heartwood Blueprints and safe pocket them immediately.
- Extract, or surrender if you entered with nothing you need to keep.
Stable Housing Requirements
You need Stella Montis access and a safe pocket for the Project Heartwood Blueprints.
- Complete the whole quest in one round.
- Use a light or empty loadout if you want the surrender option after securing the Blueprints.
- Expect Shredders, Pop Rollers and rival raiders around the Lobby and Security Bridge.
- Move quietly where possible because interior noise can draw attention.
A Stella Montis raid boost can cover the hostile map while you focus on the Security Bridge puzzle and Blueprints.
How to Find the Security Bridge
The Security Bridge spans the Lobby in northern Stella Montis.
- Reach the Lobby complex in the north or northeast of the map.
- Change map layers if the bridge is not visible on your current floor view.
- Use stairs or a zipline to reach the elevated bridge level.
- Enter from a side route rather than crossing the busiest part of the Lobby floor when possible.
Snap and Salvage and On Deaf Ears also route through this area. Switching the Supply is another quest where changing map layers helps reveal the target.
The Safe on the Third Floor
The safe is on floor 3 in the control room opposite the stairwell, on a desk toward the back-right side.
- Climb to floor 3 and use the painted floor number as your orientation cue.
- Enter the room opposite the stairwell.
- Find the safe on the desk in the back-right area.
- Interact with the safe to begin the access sequence.
The Card Printer Is Meant to Fail
The floor 4 card printer is supposed to malfunction, so do not restart the quest when it fails.
- Go up one floor to the control room beside the stairwell.
- Find the small printer on the desk with the monitors.
- Start the key-print interaction and let the sequence finish.
- Return downstairs after Tian Wen tells you to find another way in.
The security warning here is part of the sequence; keep moving instead of abandoning the run. Deciphering the Data has a similar scripted-failure moment.
The Notice Board Is the Way In
The notice board on floor 3 is the alternate access method that opens the safe.
- Return to floor 3 after the printer fails.
- Enter the control-room area and look to the right side of the entrance for the notice board.
- Read the notice to register the override.
- Go back to the safe and open it for the Project Heartwood Blueprints.
- Safe pocket the Blueprints immediately.
Do Not Shoot the Androids
Leave functioning androids alone unless they are actively blocking the run.
Avoid unnecessary fights with androids because they do not help with the Security Bridge objective and can add risk to the route. For an android-focused route, see In My Image.
How to Get the Blueprints Back to Tian Wen
Once the Blueprints are protected, either extract from the nearby subway route or surrender if you deployed empty.
- Leave the Security Bridge and go down to the bottom floor.
- Exit the main door and head north toward the subway stairs for extraction.
- Use Surrender instead only if the Blueprints are safe-pocketed and you brought nothing else you need to keep.
If the after-action report shows six of seven steps, return to Tian Wen with the Blueprints before assuming the quest failed.
Stable Housing Rewards
Stable Housing rewards mobility and utility items, including a Snap Hook.
| Reward | Type | Note |
|---|---|---|
| 5x Seeker Grenade | Throwable | Combat utility |
| 5x Lure Grenade | Throwable | Pairs with the Lure Grenade blueprint from Greasing Her Palms |
| 1x Snap Hook | Mobility | Can be recycled toward the Power Rod needed in Tribute to Toledo |
Completing the quest also advances the Project Heartwood Codex thread.
What Comes After Stable Housing
A Rising Tide unlocks after Stable Housing.
This is a cross-trader handoff: Stable Housing is Tian Wen's quest, while A Rising Tide belongs to Celeste, so the gate is easy to miss if you only scan one trader's list.
The Project Heartwood Thread
Project Heartwood continues across three quests: Stable Housing recovers the Blueprints, A Rising Tide follows the foreman's trail, and A Dead End reveals what happened to the project.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why did the card printer break?
It is scripted to fail. The failure is the cue to return to floor 3 and use the notice board as the alternate way into the safe.
How do you open the safe?
Inspect the safe on floor 3, trigger the failed printer on floor 4, then read the floor 3 notice board and return to the safe.
Can you surrender instead of extracting?
Yes, if the Blueprints are safe-pocketed and you entered without other equipment you need to keep. What matters is returning with the quest item protected.
Why does it say six of seven steps?
The after-action report can show six of seven even when the run is effectively complete. Take the Blueprints back to Tian Wen before rerunning the quest.
What does Stable Housing unlock?
It unlocks A Rising Tide, which is a Celeste quest even though Stable Housing comes from Tian Wen.
