Inside The World
Think of it as a warehouse with a map attached. Each item in the game sits in the chests 40 times over, grouped by type, so weapons, armour, accessories, mounts, pets and tools each have their own rows. Anything that stacks is stacked to 9,999, the cap since the Labor of Love update. The world itself is a large one, dressed up with plenty of pixel art.
It also works as a shared base. You can host it as a multiplayer world, so friends join and help themselves to the same chests.
How Journey Mode Changes Things
Journey Mode came with Journey's End. It adds a Power Menu with time and weather control, an enemy difficulty slider and item duplication. To duplicate something, you research it first by feeding a set number of copies into the research slot. After that your character can copy it at will. With every item in the chests, research turns into a quick sorting job.
One rule matters before you buy. Journey worlds only accept Journey characters, and Journey characters only play in Journey worlds. Your Classic, Expert or Master character stays outside, so make a fresh Journey character to open the world. Research also belongs to each character, not to the world.
Where The Platinum Hours Go
Trophy guides put the platinum around 50 hours at difficulty 4/10, and they warn that the final grind alone can run past 100. Slayer of Worlds wants 15 bosses beaten by one character, and that means two worlds, since Eater of Worlds lives in the Corruption and Brain of Cthulhu in the Crimson. Topped Off asks for 500 life and 200 mana: 15 Life Crystals, 20 Life Fruit from the Hardmode jungle and 10 Mana Crystals.
Then come the collections. Armory needs every piece of every armour set, which guides estimate at around 80 hours alone. Pet Collector wants all 18 pets on PS4, some of them rare drops from Pumpkin Moon and Frost Moon bosses. Another silver asks for 10,000 smelted bars, which is roughly 30,000 ore. Corruptible and In The Hallow each need half of a world converted, and Gelatin World Tour asks for every slime type in the game.
Four Update Packs, Twelve More Trophies
Four update packs added three trophies each. They sit outside the platinum, but they count toward a full list. Infinity +1 Sword wants the Zenith, and Fae Flayer, Just Desserts and An Eye For An Eye want the Empress of Light, Queen Slime and Deerclops. Torch God is one of the rarest. The rarest of all asks you to purge every block of Corruption, Crimson and Hallow until the Dryad is satisfied.
