Dynasty Warriors 9 took the series open world. China is one map you cross on foot, horseback or boat, with towns, tea houses, hideaways and hunting grounds between the battles of the 13 story chapters. The catch is that each officer's story covers only part of the war, and each officer levels separately. Weapons, items and map progress are shared, but experience is not. A platinum run means playing through the eyes of a dozen or more officers, while you scrape together gold, rare coins and materials for weapons and hideaways.

Gold, Hunting Points And The Four Rare Coins
Gold is the everyday money. It buys horses, furniture and hideaways, and each hideaway costs 30,000 in gold. Hunting Points come from hunting animals in the wild, and the tougher ones pay more. You spend them with the dilettante at the tea houses on capture bait and tranquilizer arrows, which is how you recruit animal companions.
The rare coins are the ones people chase. Bubi, Daobi, Huanqian and Yibiqian coins drop from enemies, more often on Fridays, and turn up when you fish in the right spots. The coin collector at the tea houses trades them for most of the weapon scrolls, the recipes the blacksmith needs for stronger weapons. The ancient coin collector in town sells furniture for them. With all four maxed and every material stocked, the blacksmith stops being a waiting game.
Every Officer Maxed, Not Just Your Favourite
In Dynasty Warriors 9 each officer earns three upgrade points per level, spends them on stats and keeps them to themselves. That is why switching characters normally means starting a new grind. The save gives every officer max XP, max upgrade points and max stats, so the officer you switch to is already built instead of starting from scratch.
That matters for two silvers in particular. Veteran Master wants an officer at the level 100 cap. Unrivaled Warrior wants an officer's Attack at 900, which trophy guides reach by putting upgrade points into Attack and equipping a strong weapon.
The Platinum: Fifteen Stories And 100,000 KOs
Trophy guides rate the list 3/10 and estimate about 80 hours, spread over around fifteen character stories. Extensive Knowledge wants every battle entry in the Encyclopedia, and some battles only appear in certain officers' chapters. The shortest set of stories runs through Cao Cao, Lu Bu, Liu Bei, Sun Jian, Zhuge Liang, Jiang Wei and Deng Ai, among others. Flowers Amidst the Chaos, one of the two golds, comes along the way, because officers unlock as you clear the chapters they appear in.
The other gold, The Pinnacle of Might, asks for 100,000 KOs and usually pops last. One shortcut is the Master Sniper ordeal at Fan Castle's north gate, which pays around 800 KOs a run. The Ties that Bind Us wants a maximum bond with 20 officers, which means inviting each one to your hideaway three times. Thronged with Visitors wants ten hideaways, which comes to 300,000 in gold. Master of the Hunt asks for 5,000 Hunting Points, and Epicure wants 100 meals eaten. No trophy needs online play.
