Dark Souls never lets a mistake go cheap. Die in Lordran and your souls and Humanity stay behind in a bloodstain. Die again before you reach it, and they are gone for good. Upgrades are slow as well. A standard weapon needs a Titanite Slab for its last step to +15. The only place to farm slabs is New Londo Ruins, where the Darkwraiths drop them rarely.

Max Level, Maxed Souls, Finished Gear
Dark Souls has eight stats, and max level puts all eight at 99. Every weapon, sorcery and miracle meets its stat requirements, so a Faith build and a Strength build are both open from the first bonfire. You do not have to commit to a build before you know the game.
Souls are your currency and your experience at once. With the counter maxed, every merchant and blacksmith in Lordran will serve you, from the Undead Merchant in the Burg to Andre. The soul items are the backup plan. Items like the Soul of a Hero turn into souls when you use them, and Remastered lets you choose how many to use in one go. A death that wipes your counter costs you a minute in the menu, not an evening of farming.
The armory is finished too. All weapons and all armor come fully upgraded, so Titanite Chunks and Slabs stop deciding which weapon you get to use. Change weapons whenever a fight calls for it, with no trip to the anvil first.
Knight's Honor And The Three-Run Platinum
Trophy guide estimates start around 60 hours and run past 100 for a first-timer. Knight's Honor sets that pace. It asks for every rare weapon in the base game. That means boss soul weapons from the Giant Blacksmith in Anor Londo, plus tail cuts like the Drake Sword and the Moonlight Greatsword. The Black Knight and Silver Knight weapons count too. Each boss gives one soul per playthrough. The Great Grey Wolf Sif has to die three times, for the Greatsword of Artorias, its cursed version and the Greatshield of Artorias.
Gwyn's soul is wanted twice. The Giant Blacksmith turns one into the Great Lord Greatsword. The Sunlight Altar trades another for the Sunlight Spear, once ten Sunlight Medals take you to Warrior of Sunlight rank +1. That miracle counts toward Prayer of a Maiden, which wants every miracle. Wisdom of a Sage and Bond of a Pyromancer ask the same for sorceries and pyromancies.
The rest is a checklist with traps in it. Nine trophies ask you to join every covenant. The Darkwraiths are the easy one to lose: place the Lordvessel with Kingseeker Frampt first, and Darkstalker Kaathe never makes his offer. Ten more want a weapon taken to the top of each reinforcement path, from a +15 standard weapon to Crystal +5 and Chaos +5. To Link the Fire and Dark Lord are both gold trophies, so the final choice at the Kiln has to be made twice.
