Cronos: The New Dawn Modded Save & Platinum Trophy

Cronos: The New Dawn is a game about leftovers. Every Orphan you kill needs burning, or a surviving one can merge with the corpse and grow stronger. Inventory slots are few at the start, and Energy pays for every weapon upgrade. Fully upgrading all seven weapons at once would cost 479,600 Energy, several playthroughs of scavenging.

What The Save Loads

Every weapon has max clip ammo: 9,876 rounds. Storage holds 9,876 of every item, and the Traveler has 98,765,432 Energy. All weapons are unlocked, including the ones normally found in optional rooms. A second save slot comes as a bonus, with 37 Cores in the stash.

The numbers matter because of how Cronos spends them. Valuables sell for Energy, and there are only 35 of them in the whole game. With close to 99 million banked, you can max every weapon in one sitting and still buy whatever the store sells.

Cores And The Temporal Shell

Cores upgrade the Traveler's Temporal Shell in three lines: Suit Integrity, Inventory Slots and Resources Limit. Most sit in dispensers, and petting one of the game's ten cats often pays out another. A full shell takes 36 Cores, and the game only has 37. Forged in Fire asks for the full shell, which is why the bonus slot's 37 Cores are useful. The second playthrough also clears any Cores left in your stash, along with healing items and key items.

Seven Weapons And A Lot Of Fire

The arsenal runs from the Sword to the Arbalest, by way of the Dagger, Hammer, Mace, Javelin and Lance. Several trophies want them used well. Efficiency Discipline is two kills with one Sword projectile, The Anvil Of The Collective four with one Hammer shot, and The Annihilator five with one Arbalest round. Fire. Spreading. wants five enemies set alight by one burst of the Torch, and Don't Let Them Merge wants 25 dead Orphans burned.

Two Playthroughs, Three Endings

Trophy guides estimate 20-30 hours and rate the platinum 4/10. The first run takes about 16 hours with full exploration and ends with a choice over the Pathfinder: shoot him for I Am Free, or spare him for A Flicker Of Hope. Reload the last save to see both.

The second run unlocks Hard Mode and the third ending. Hard Mode raises enemy health and damage and strips out most autosaves, and finishing it earns Shell Not Compromised, one of the two golds. Weapons, ammo, upgrades and Energy carry over, so it is easier than it sounds. The other gold, Free From All The Scars, is the new choice at the end, Begin anew, to save both Weronikas.

The Essence trophies need planning. The Orthodox wants a finish with only the Essences the Collective assigns you, another trophy wants Edward's Essence at the end, and Togetherness wants Lidia, Marcel and Krzysztof Marzec in your phylactery at once. The collectors' list adds 10 cats, 10 comic books, 27 Travelogs and five fallen Travelers.
