That matters if you need a Buzzard Attack Chopper, Cargobob, Frogger, Maverick, Police Maverick, or a safe place to store a stolen helicopter without wasting time at an empty pad.

This guide gives you the real GTA 5 helicopter locations, separates GTA 5 Story Mode from GTA Online, and calls out the locations that are only useful after a mission, rank, or property unlock.

It will not pretend every helipad has a guaranteed spawn. In GTA Online especially, rank, session state, owned aircraft, and nearby player activity can affect what you see.

Start with the lowest-risk route that matches your mode. A helicopter spawn that works in GTA Online may not exist in Story Mode, and a Story Mode storage rule may not give you permanent Online ownership.

GTA 5 Vespucci Helipad

Best For: Michael or Franklin helicopter storage in Story Mode, plus Frogger checks and Online deliveries.

Type: Root method for storage. Spawn checks here are variable, but storage is the real Story Mode value.

Vespucci Helipad is on Shank Street in Puerto Del Sol. In Story Mode, it becomes available after Nervous Ron and can be bought by Michael or Franklin for $419,850.

1. Complete Nervous Ron.
2. Switch to Michael or Franklin.
3. Go to the Vespucci Helipad sale marker on Shank Street.
4. Buy the property if you want helicopter storage.
5. Land a stolen or purchased helicopter on the correct character pad.
6. Return later and select the stored helicopter from the helipad.

GTA 5 Sandy Shores Airfield

Best For: Trevor aircraft storage and the TPE Frogger after Three’s Company.

Type: Root method for Trevor storage. The Cargobob note is mission-window specific.

Sandy Shores Airfield is Trevor’s main aircraft base after Nervous Ron. A Trevor Philips Enterprises Frogger appears at the Sandy Shores helipad after Three’s Company and respawns if it is lost or destroyed.

1. Complete Nervous Ron to unlock Trevor’s airfield use.
2. Complete Three’s Company if you want Trevor’s TPE Frogger.
3. Travel to Sandy Shores Airfield.
4. Check the helipad near Trevor’s airfield setup.
5. Use the Frogger if it is present.
6. Return after loss or destruction to check for the respawn.

GTA 5 Fort Zancudo

Best For: Cargobob and military helicopter attempts.

Type: Root method with high risk. This fixes access to military aircraft, but it does not reduce combat pressure.

Fort Zancudo can have the Cargobob flying around or on helipads east of the runway. It is also a documented Buzzard source, but it is not the safest first stop.

1. Prepare a fast vehicle or aircraft before entering the base.
2. Enter Fort Zancudo only when you are ready for military response.

Best For: Police Maverick checks.

Type: Diagnostic plus root method. These locations are real, but the exact aircraft can vary.

Police Mavericks can appear on law-enforcement rooftops such as Vespucci Police Station, Davis Sheriff’s Station, Mission Row Police Station, and the Weazel News Building. Davis and Mission Row can sometimes show an unarmed Buzzard instead.

2. Reach the helipad without destroying nearby aircraft.
3. Check whether the spawn is a Police Maverick or an unarmed Buzzard.
4. Enter the helicopter if it matches what you need.
5. Leave the rooftop before police pressure builds.

GTA 5 Hospital Rooftops

Best For: Air Ambulance variant checks.

Type: Root method for a variant spawn. This is not a separate purchasable helicopter class.

Central Los Santos Medical Center has rooftop helipads where the Air Ambulance variant can appear. Vinewood Police Station can also sometimes show an Air Ambulance or regular Police Maverick variant.

1. Travel to Central Los Santos Medical Center.
2. Reach the rooftop helipad area.
3. Check for the Air Ambulance helicopter variant.
4. Enter it if present.

GTA 5 Parachute Jumps

Best For: Civilian Maverick hijack opportunities in Story Mode.

Type: Alternate method. This reduces the need to find a parked civilian helicopter, but it is tied to activity setup.

Several parachuting activities use Maverick helicopters. Tapping the enter button starts the jump flow, while holding the enter action near the helicopter can hijack it instead.

1. Go to a parachuting activity that starts with a Maverick.
2. Approach the helicopter.

4. Take control of the Maverick.
5. Fly away before the activity flow pulls you into the jump.

GTA 5 Online Locations

GTA Online helicopter locations are less absolute than Story Mode. Some spawns are rank-gated, some depend on session state, and permanent ownership usually comes from purchasing or storing aircraft properly.

GTA 5 Vespucci Helipad

Best For: Online helicopter spawn checks, Pegasus deliveries, Personal Aircraft deliveries, and Higgins Helitours ownership utility.

Vespucci Helipad can show rank-gated Online helicopter spawns such as Maverick, Cargobob, Annihilator, and Buzzard Attack Chopper. It can also receive Pegasus or Personal Aircraft deliveries when the game selects it as a suitable nearby delivery point.

1. Travel to Vespucci Helipad in Puerto Del Sol.
2. Check the pads for a naturally spawned helicopter.
3. If you own a Pegasus helicopter, call Pegasus Lifestyle Management.
4. If you own Personal Aircraft, request it through the GTA Online aircraft delivery system.
5. Use the delivered aircraft once it appears at or near the helipad.

GTA 5 LSIA Helipads

Best For: Online Maverick, Frogger, Buzzard, and delivery checks.

Type: Spawn and delivery method. In Story Mode, LSIA helipads are not helicopter storage.

Los Santos International Airport has multiple helipads. GTA Online can use LSIA for rank-gated spawns and aircraft deliveries, while Story Mode helicopters landed there do not become stored helicopters.

Type: Online root method with situational risk. This is not the cleanest Story Mode recommendation.

Los Santos Naval Port is documented as an Online area where the Buzzard Attack Chopper and Cargobob can appear. It is more useful as an Online helicopter check than as a general Story Mode beginner route.

Higgins Helitours is a GTA Online Money Fronts business at the Vespucci Helipad. It costs $900,000, requires owning the Hands On Car Wash first, and lets the player request a Personal Aircraft or the company’s Higgins Helitours Maverick to the Vespucci Helipad.

GTA 5 Mansion Helipads

Best For: High-end GTA Online helicopter access through mansion ownership.

Type: Paid Online property method. It is useful, but it is not the answer for players looking for free helicopter spawns.

GTA Online mansions were added in A Safehouse in the Hills. They include rooftop helicopter access, one helicopter capacity, and mansion helicopter utility such as the Mansion Volatus.
