Monster Hunter Stories swaps the hunt for a ride. You play a Rider from Hakum Village who steals eggs from Monster Dens, hatches them into Monsties and fights beside them in turn-based battles. The catch is levels. Every Monstie you hatch starts weak, high rank monsters wait after the credits, and the trophy list wants a Monstie at level 99. What Max Rider And Monstie XP Change In A Fight

Battles in Stories turn on Head-to-Heads. Every attack is Power, Speed or Technical: Power beats Technical, Technical beats Speed, and Speed beats Power. Read the monster right and you win the exchange. Pick the same type as your Monstie and you land a Double Attack, which takes the enemy's swing away completely.

Levels decide how much those wins are worth. Your Rider fights with a Great Sword, Sword and Shield, Hammer or Hunting Horn, and max Rider XP means your hits and your health keep up with whatever is across the field. Max Monstie XP does the same for your partners, so a new hatchling doesn't have to sit on the bench while it catches up.

Eggs, Genes And The Rite Of Channeling

Monsties come from eggs taken out of Monster Dens and hatched back at the stables. Once The Channeler teaches you the Rite of Channeling in the Darj Snowfields, you can move Bond Genes between Monsties. Each Monstie has a 3x3 gene grid, and three matching colors or icons in a row, column or diagonal trigger a bingo bonus.

That is where a Stories playthrough turns into a project: hatching extra eggs for the right gene and rearranging grids for more bingos. Max Zenny covers every shop bill while you experiment, and a bag with every item at max means you never stop to farm supplies before a long den run.

What Master Rider Asks For

Trophy guides rate the list 4 out of 10 and estimate around 80 hours in one playthrough. The story gives you the village trophies. Most of the rest waits in the post-game.

Both golds are long. Encyclopoogia wants all 100 lost Poogies, the small dressed-up pigs hidden across the world. Monster Encyclopedia wants every kind of monster slain, more than 110 of them, and some only appear in high rank after the credits. The silver list adds a Monstie at level 99, 500 battles won, 100 subquests and 1,000,000 Zenny held at once.

The endgame dungeons have their own trophies. Secret Scroll of Bonds means reaching the top of the 50-floor Tower of Illusion, and Secret Scroll of Adventurers means beating the boss of the Labyrinth of Ordeals. Platinum Paradise Cup wants the top cup at the Rider Arena. Accessory Royalty is pure luck: a rarity 8 accessory from gathering points and chests.

The PS4 Remaster And Its List

The PlayStation version arrived on 14 June 2024 as a remaster, launched alongside the PS4 port of Monster Hunter Stories 2. It has one trophy list: 38 bronze, 10 silver, 2 gold and the platinum. That list is the same whether you play on PS4 or PS5.
