ARC Raiders quest guide

ARC Raiders Combat Recon: All Three Cover Spots and the Spotter Relay

Combat Recon ARC Raiders sends you across Buried City for Shani to scope three cover spots, destroy two Spotters, and deliver one Spotter Relay. The cover objectives do not need to be finished in one raid, but the relay must survive extraction. Spotters only appear around a Bombardier, so finding that enemy is the key to finishing the combat half of the quest.

Quick Answer

  • Parking Garage: reach the top-floor stairwell area and trigger the Scope Out prompt.
  • Marano Park: enter either of the two large half-buried buses on the western side.
  • Main Street: enter a qualifying attic around the Main Street buildings and trigger the prompt.
  • Spotters only appear near a Bombardier and usually fly as a pair.
  • Destroy two Spotters, loot one Spotter Relay, safe-pocket it, and extract.
Quest availability

Is Combat Recon Still Available?

Combat Recon is a Shani quest tied to the Headwinds content set. If it is not visible in Shani's quest list, complete your current Shani objectives and re-check the available quest list before planning a Buried City run.

If the quest still does not appear, avoid farming the cover spots or Spotters until Combat Recon is active in your log, because those actions will not substitute for accepting the quest first.

Before you deploy

Combat Recon Requirements

Enter Buried City with a safe-pocket augment for the Spotter Relay and bring a weapon that can reliably hit small flying drones at range. The three cover spots can be completed across multiple raids, so route efficiency matters less than keeping the relay safe once you reach the combat step.

Shani may supply quest-related gear when you accept the mission, but the binoculars are not required to trigger the cover-spot objectives. Use the on-screen Scope Out prompt as your confirmation instead.

Scope point one

Cover Spot 1: The Parking Garage Staircases

  1. Travel to the Parking Garage. Use the central zipline when available to reach the roof level quickly.
  2. Move to the upper stairwell area. Check the top-floor corners until the Scope Out interaction appears.
  3. Trigger the prompt from the stairwell zone. If one side does not register, move across the roof to the opposite stairwell.
Scope point two

Cover Spot 2: The Buses at Marano Park

  1. Head to the western edge of Marano Park. Look for two large buses half-buried in sand near the building line.
  2. Enter either bus. Both can satisfy the cover-spot objective.
  3. Move inside until the Scope Out prompt appears. Marano Park's central position makes this the easiest cover spot to combine with other Buried City objectives.
Scope point three

Cover Spot 3: The Attics Around Main Street

  1. Travel to Main Street and look for buildings with accessible upper floors. More than one attic can qualify.
  2. Climb into an attic space above the street. Use interior stairs, ladders or roof access depending on the building.
  3. Move through the attic until the Scope Out prompt appears. If one attic does not register, try another nearby building rather than assuming the objective is broken.

How to Find and Destroy Spotters

Spotters only appear when a Bombardier is present. Look for the Bombardier around the Parking Garage, Marano Park, Plaza Rosa, or Main Street, then scan the air around it for the small drones with a visible ring around them.

  1. Create distance and use cover. You only need the Spotters, not the Bombardier itself.
  2. Shoot the two flying drones. Spotters can reveal your position and improve the Bombardier's targeting.
  3. Break line of sight after the kills. Let the Bombardier de-aggro before moving to the wrecks.
Extraction item

How to Get the Spotter Relay

Destroy two Spotters, then wait briefly for the Bombardier to move away before looting the drone husks. You only need one Spotter Relay even though the objective requires two Spotter kills.

Put the relay in a safe pocket immediately and extract. Losing it before extraction means repeating the combat portion of the quest.

Quest payout

Combat Recon Rewards

Combat Recon rewards are granted after you turn in the Spotter Relay to Shani. Check the completion screen before leaving Speranza so you can compare the payout with your next Shani quest.

Route tip

Do It During Bird City

The Bird City map modifier is an efficient time to clear the cover spots because extra rooftop ziplines shorten travel between upper-floor objectives. Use the modifier to reach the Parking Garage and Main Street attic areas with less climbing.

What Comes After Combat Recon

Combat Recon sits among Shani's Headwinds-era objectives. After turning it in, check Shani's quest list for the next available mission; On Deaf Ears is another Shani quest from the same content set.

Quick answers

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is Combat Recon missing from my quest list?

Combat Recon must be active in Shani's quest list before the objectives matter. Finish your current Shani progression and re-check the available quests before spending a raid on the route.

Where are the attics on Main Street?

Use accessible upper-floor or attic spaces around Main Street. More than one attic can register, so try another nearby building if the first one does not produce the Scope Out prompt.

Where do Spotters spawn in ARC Raiders?

Spotters appear around a Bombardier. Search Bombardier areas such as the Parking Garage, Marano Park, Plaza Rosa, and Main Street, then look for the small paired flying drones.

Do you have to kill the Bombardier?

No. The quest only requires two Spotter kills. Use distance and cover to destroy the drones without committing to the Bombardier itself.

Do you need to extract with the Spotter Relay?

Yes. Safe-pocket the relay and extract with it; losing the relay means repeating the combat section.
