Performance parts come as random Speed Cards: from event wins, from Tune-Up Shop stock that changes every 10 minutes, or from the Trade-In slot machine at 3 Part Tokens a roll. What Max Bank And Part Tokens Do

Payback splits your garage into five disciplines. Tyler runs the street races and drag races, Mac takes drift and off-road, and Jess does the runner jobs. Each one needs its own build, and each car comes from its own dealership. Bank pays for those cars, for Speed Cards off the Tune-Up Shop shelf and for the extra garages at roughly 25,000 to 30,000 apiece. Own every garage and your car storage becomes unlimited. Bank also covers the Koenigsegg Regera, which unlocks after the story for 794,205.

Part Tokens are the smarter spend. At the Trade-In counter, each roll costs 3 tokens, and you can lock the part type, the brand or the perk before you spin. Payback has five brands: Americana, Carbon, Chidori, NexTech and Outlaw. Three parts from one brand give a set bonus, and all six give a second one. With tokens to burn, you can roll a matched six-part set instead of waiting for the right card to drop.

Where The Save Picks Up

The save starts after the prologue and the tutorials, with most of the story still ahead of you. The Regera job and Lina Navarro's double-cross are behind you. What remains is the main story: the street leagues, the Highway Heist and the fight against The House, the cartel that runs Fortune Valley. The save is set on Hard, and difficulty has no effect on any trophy. REP is Payback's experience bar, and it stops at level 50.

Why The Payback Platinum Drags

Trophy guides rate it 5 out of 10 and put it at 40-60 hours, in one playthrough, with nothing missable. The story is the easy part. Active Lifestyle, the rarest trophy below the platinum, wants 3 stars on all 145 activities: 30 Jumps, 40 Speed Runs, 45 Speed Traps and 30 Drift Zones. All In wants all 100 Gambler's Chips. Who Runs this Town?, a gold, asks you to win every event and beat all 20 Roaming Racers. You beat each faction's racers three times before its boss appears.

Then come the cars. Another Man's Treasure wants a Derelict, rebuilt from five parts hidden across the map, at performance level 399. 1500 bhp... Easy asks for a race win in the Regera without a single scrape. Top Dog, REP level 50, is the longest grind of all. Guides warn that you will sit around level 25 once everything else is done.

Online And Speedcross Trophies

Four trophies need online services. The Climb wants 10 events in Ranked Speedlists, and First Strike is Deadly wants all five events of one Speedlist. Friendly Competition means beating an Autolog recommendation set by someone on your friends list. A Daily a Day asks for one daily challenge. Speedcross Story is paid DLC (it came free with the Deluxe Edition) and adds four trophies, Speedcross Champion among them. The platinum doesn't need the DLC, but our listing covers all 58 trophies.
