Like a Dragon: Ishin! puts Kiryu's face on Sakamoto Ryoma and drops him into 1860s Kyo, a city of Shinsengumi patrols, gambling dens and a blacksmith who charges a fortune. Money comes in ryo and mon. Virtue, the second currency, pays for shrine upgrades and the Shinto Priest's stock. Haruka's 100-ryo debt waits in Another Life, and smithing in this remake costs about 100 times what it did in the 2014 original.

Play To Home, Sweet Home First

The save starts at the very beginning. Our product note for trophy hunters is simple: play a fresh file until Home, Sweet Home unlocks for setting foot in Tosa, then load ours.

The save is set to Legend. You can change the difficulty while you are free to roam, and Legend of an Era only needs the final combat stretch of Chapter 14 played on Legend.

Ryo, Virtue And Orbs

Ryo pays the blacksmith in Rakugai, whose upgrades and seals are the most expensive habit in Kyo. Virtue comes from almost everything Ryoma does, from praying at shrines to eating out, and the shrines trade it for quality-of-life upgrades. Orbs fill the skill grids of the four styles: Brawler, Swordsman, Gunman and Wild Dancer. Each upgrade costs one orb, though some slots stay sealed until a master's training or a Book of Revelations opens them.

Arena Points come from fight tournaments in Mukurogai and spend at the Arena store. The save fills that balance too.

Another Life With A Full Pantry

Another Life is Ryoma's second home with Haruka: a garden, a kitchen, a fishing spot, pets and a cupboard of trade orders. Trade income triggers the five 20-ryo payments on her debt. With produce and seafood maxed, the kitchen and the trade cupboard have stock to work with as soon as the house opens up.

What Bakumatsu Boss Demands

Trophy guides estimate 100 to 130 hours or more and rate it 5 out of 10, mostly for Buyo dancing and the courtesan games. Nothing is missable, and one playthrough is enough because Legend is available from the start. Taskmaster, a gold, wants 100% of the Completion List. That means smithing every weapon and armor piece and placing all 45 unique seals. The Gods Hath Been Humbled wants the whole Diligence Record, from drawing water at wells to collecting eggs. Divinely Virtuous asks for 300,000 Virtue earned in total.

Combat has its own walls. Limit Breaker means reaching level 99, then beating Komaki, Ginryu and William Bradley together at Komaki's dojo. Drop and Give Me 100 needs 100 different troopers for the Third Division, out of 400 trooper cards won in Battle Dungeons and street fights. Sanada Takedown clears all 20 Sanada Stronghold missions.

Can I play on a lower difficulty than Legend?

Yes. The difficulty can be changed while you are free-roaming. Legend of an Era only asks for the final combat section of Chapter 14 on Legend, so many players switch right before it.

What can I do with max Virtue?

Virtue buys the shrine upgrades, including the Virtue Cultivation levels, the Shinto Priest's stock and the interior designs for the house you share with Haruka.
