How MW4 Camo Progression Works
MW4 shares its weapon-camo foundation across Multiplayer, DMZ and, starting in Season 1, Warzone. Level weapons for Military camos, complete mode-adjusted Special challenges, then work through the Completionist chain: Gold → Platinum → Harmonic Break → Divergence. Divergence opens the first mode-specific Mastery challenge.
There are nine mode-specific mastery camos across Multiplayer, DMZ and Warzone. The other four are evolving Pyroclast variants earned through Weapon Prestige, not player Classic or Regular Prestige. Each mode’s mastery challenges advance in their own order.

Multiplayer Mastery Camos
The Multiplayer ladder runs from Mercurial Drift to Polyatomic Reforged and finally Orion Reforged. Divergence opens Mercurial Drift, then each completed Mastery challenge unlocks the next. Multiplayer releases October 23. Polyatomic and Orion revisit Modern Warfare II camo names, but owning their older versions does not unlock the Reforged rewards.

Mercurial Drift
Mercurial Drift is the first Multiplayer mastery camo in Modern Warfare 4. It marks the point where the shared weapon-camo progression leads into Multiplayer-specific mastery challenges, with Polyatomic Reforged and Orion Reforged still ahead.

Polyatomic Reforged
Polyatomic Reforged is MW4's second Multiplayer mastery camo, positioned between Mercurial Drift and Orion Reforged. The name returns from Modern Warfare II, but the Reforged version is a new camo with its own unlock path.

Orion Reforged
Orion Reforged is the final Multiplayer mastery camo in Modern Warfare 4, following Mercurial Drift and Polyatomic Reforged. It brings back the Orion name from Modern Warfare II but sits at the end of MW4's own camo progression.

DMZ Mastery Camos
DMZ follows Chiral → Ripple Tide → Helio. Players with eligible digital preorders can begin DMZ early access on October 20, ahead of the full October 23 release. DMZ shares weapon-camo foundations with Multiplayer but has its own Mastery challenges. Its separate player-level progression is not a substitute for completing the weapon-camo ladder.

Chiral
Chiral is the first DMZ mastery camo in Modern Warfare 4, opening a three-stage progression path through Ripple Tide and Helio. Before reaching it, players must work through the shared weapon-camo system and its Completionist rewards.

Ripple Tide
Ripple Tide is the second DMZ mastery camo in Modern Warfare 4. It follows Chiral and sits directly before Helio, making it the middle stage of the extraction mode's dedicated mastery progression.

Helio
Helio is the final DMZ mastery camo in Modern Warfare 4, sitting above Chiral and Ripple Tide. It completes the announced three-stage DMZ ladder and represents a separate mastery goal from Multiplayer's Orion Reforged.

Warzone Mastery Camos
Warzone Mastery starts with Season 1, after the October 23 Multiplayer and DMZ launch. Its three camos are Parallax → Damascus Reforged → Empyros. Damascus Reforged is different from Modern Warfare (2019) Damascus and Black Ops 7 Golden Damascus. Empyros is a weapon camo, not an Operator. Warzone-specific mastery objectives have not been announced.

Parallax
Parallax is the first Warzone mastery camo for Modern Warfare 4 weapons. It begins a separate three-tier ladder that continues through Damascus Reforged to Empyros, but the Warzone challenges are not available with the October 23 Multiplayer and DMZ release.

Damascus Reforged
Damascus Reforged is Modern Warfare 4's second Warzone mastery camo, following Parallax and leading into Empyros. Despite the familiar name, it is not the original Damascus from Modern Warfare (2019) or Golden Damascus from Black Ops 7.
Unlocks after ParallaxHow to unlock Damascus Reforged - 3

Empyros
Empyros is the third and final Warzone mastery camo in Modern Warfare 4. It comes after Parallax and Damascus Reforged, completing a mode-specific weapon-camo ladder that begins with MW4's Season 1 Warzone integration.
Unlocks after Damascus ReforgedHow to unlock Empyros
| Camo | Tier | Unlocks after | Unlocks next | Available from |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Parallax | 1 | Divergence Completionist camo | Damascus Reforged | Season 1 |

Weapon Prestige Mastery Camos
The four Pyroclast variants come from Weapon Prestige, not the player’s Classic or Regular Prestige choice. After a weapon reaches maximum level, prestiging it resets that weapon’s level and relocks standard attachments. Apex and weapon-blueprint attachments are exceptions, and unlocked camos and other weapon customization remain available.
The sequence is Pyroclast, Pyroclast Terminus, Pyroclast Scatter and Pyroclast Cascade. If you have seen the second stage called Pyroclast Verge, the official launch overview calls it Pyroclast Terminus. It is the second variant, not an additional fifth camo.
- 0Reach maximum weapon levelEnter Weapon Prestige to begin the separate Pyroclast progression.

Pyroclast
Pyroclast is the opening form of Modern Warfare 4's evolving Weapon Prestige camo. It belongs to an individual weapon's leveling journey, not the Classic or Regular player Prestige tracks, and develops into three further variants.
Unlocks after Maximum weapon levelHow to unlock Pyroclast - 2

Pyroclast Verge
Looking for Pyroclast Verge? The official MW4 launch overview calls the second Weapon Prestige camo Pyroclast Terminus. It follows the opening Pyroclast form and comes before Scatter, rather than adding another reward to the four-stage sequence.
Unlocks after PyroclastHow to unlock Pyroclast Verge - 3

Pyroclast Scatter
Pyroclast Scatter is the third appearance of Modern Warfare 4's evolving Weapon Prestige camo. It follows the officially named Pyroclast Terminus variant and sits within Weapon Prestige Master, beyond the initial weapon reset and releveling stage.

Pyroclast Cascade
Pyroclast Cascade is the fourth and final variant of Modern Warfare 4's evolving Weapon Prestige camo. Its dark metallic scales and vivid green accents mark the endpoint of the announced weapon-specific sequence, after Pyroclast, Terminus and Scatter.
Unlocks after Pyroclast ScatterHow to unlock Pyroclast Cascade
| Camo | Tier | Unlocks after | Unlocks next | Available from |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pyroclast | 1 | Maximum weapon level | Pyroclast Verge | 23 October 2026 |

Which Mastery Track Should You Chase?
Choose according to the progression you want to play. Multiplayer uses its own match-based mastery ladder. DMZ has distinct combat and extraction objectives. Warzone Mastery begins with Season 1. Weapon Prestige is a separate leveling journey for individual weapons.
Compare the four tracks, then use the weapon checklist to mark completed stages and spot the next available objective. The right choice depends on your preferred mode and current unlocks, not a universal fastest or hardest ranking.
| Track | Final camo | Availability | What it needs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Multiplayer | Orion Reforged | 23 October 2026 | Shared camo progression and Multiplayer mastery challenges |
| DMZ | Helio | 20 October early access, 23 October full release | Shared camo progression and DMZ mastery challenges |
| Warzone | Empyros | Season 1 | Shared camo progression and Warzone mastery challenges |
| Weapon Prestige | Pyroclast Cascade | 23 October 2026 | Separate Weapon Prestige progression |

The MW4 Beta Camo: Litmus
Litmus has been reported as a separate Modern Warfare 4 beta camo challenge. It is not one of the 13 listed Mastery camos, and the beta window ended September 1. There is no confirmed new route to unlock Litmus after the beta period.
The official beta reward list does not name Litmus or confirm its reported challenge target. It does include the Beta Forged weapon blueprint, which is a different item. Eligible rewards earned during the beta become available in the full game at launch, but that does not reopen the beta's earning window.
Is There a Secret MW4 Mastery Camo?
MW4 has announced nine mode-specific mastery camos and four Pyroclast Weapon Prestige variants. No additional secret global mastery camo has been announced. The final known rewards are Orion Reforged for Multiplayer, Helio for DMZ, Empyros for Warzone and Pyroclast Cascade for Weapon Prestige.
Black Ops 7 included an additional completion reward, but that is not evidence of an equivalent MW4 unlock. The announced MW4 progression ends with the four rewards above.
Do Camos Carry Over to MW4?
Old mastery ownership and progress do not unlock MW4’s new mastery camos. Having Polyatomic or Orion from Modern Warfare II, or completing Black Ops 7 mastery challenges, does not award their MW4 counterparts. MW4 uses its own camo progression.
There are specific promotional exceptions to any blanket statement that no camos transfer. The Moonlit Pearl universal camo is tied to eligible MW4 digital preorders, and Gilded Ruin is a separate reward from a qualifying Black Ops 7 challenge that can also be used in MW4. Those are individual crossover rewards, not a carryover of mastery challenges or unlocked Reforged camos.
Eligible rewards earned during MW4’s own beta also become available with the full game. That is separate from ownership of mastery camos in earlier releases.
