Heists are the backbone of GTA Online's most rewarding gameplay. If you're serious about earning big money, pulling off high-stakes missions with a crew, and mastering tactical coordination, this GTA Online Heist Guide is your playbook. From planning to execution, here's everything you need to know.
Before you jump into action, check the basics:
Once you meet both, Lester Crest will give you a call. That call is your official invite to the world of online original heists. Without that apartment, Lester won’t come knocking.
Your high-end apartment comes with a planning room. This is where everything starts. You accept Lester’s job offer here and set up missions. You assign roles. It’s your war table. Once in the room, a whiteboard shows every detail of the heist from start to finale.
Each heist follows a simple structure:
The leader funds the heist. Crew members earn from setup missions. The leader only gets paid at the end. That’s why the final cut favors the leader more. Don’t complain if you're getting a smaller slice as crew. You got paid during setups. They didn’t.
Different heists require different numbers:
Make sure you have the right-sized crew before starting. You can invite friends or use quick matchmaking.

Elite Challenges:
Elite tip: Always use silenced weapons when required. It avoids alerting enemies.
Don’t carry the cash if you can't protect yourself. Only one player should hold it. The rest must cover them. Use armored vehicles for escapes.

You’ve got your planning room and you're Rank 12. Here’s how to kick it off:
Use your phone’s Quick Job feature if you want to join a random heist.
Leaders pay for the setups. Crew gets money from each one. To keep it fair, leaders should get the bigger cut from the finale.
Example payout splits (Normal difficulty):
Heist | Host Cut | Crew Cut |
Fleeca Job | 55% | 45% |
Prison Break | 40% | 20% each |
Humane Labs | 40% | 20% each |
Series A | 40% | 20% each |
Pacific Standard | 40% | 20% each |
Use voice chat. Type if needed. Clear comms win heists.
Don’t stand in the open. Use walls and cars for protection. Stay alive.
During missions, access snacks and armor through the interaction menu. Top up during downtime.
Don’t follow GPS blindly. Learn shortcuts and safer paths. Study the map.
Best car for setups. Blocks most bullets. If someone brings one, get in.
Do these for extra cash:
Each only pays once per character. Worth it if you're confident in your team.

Don’t ruin runs. Be patient. Respect host cuts. If you're crew, focus on your role. If you're the host, be fair but smart. Pick reliable teammates.
Set yourself to Passive after a finale. Some trolls kill for laughs. Don’t let them take your reward.
There are other high-reward heists like:
These follow similar planning rules. You’ll still need gear, planning, and a strong crew. Only Cayo Perico can be done solo. The rest require teamwork.
This GTA Online Heist Guide walks you through every step. Get the apartment. Gather your crew. Listen to Lester. Execute each setup. Complete the finale. Split the cash. Rinse and repeat. If you stick to the plan, there’s big money in store.
Know your role. Play smart. Trust your crew. And walk away rich.
This is GTA Online. This is how heists are won.
GTA Online’s high-stakes world rewards more than just firepower, style, speed, and individuality matter just as much. Heist prep? Do it in a bulletproof matte-black insurgent. Final escape? Make it cinematic with a neon-modded supercar. If you buy GTA 5 Modded Outfits & Vehicles, you can get an instant edge, blending form and function seamlessly. These upgrades deliver the kind of customization Rockstar should’ve included by default, but didn’t.
