Where is Military Base in GTA 5 – Map Location

The military base in GTA 5 is Fort Zancudo. It is on the west side of Blaine County, on the edge of Lago Zancudo and at the base of Mount Josiah.

This is the base most players mean when they ask for the jet and tank location. It is also the only military base in GTA 5.

The confusion usually comes from the map. Fort Zancudo is easier to spot by its runway shape and nearby landmarks than by a clear label on the standard map view.

GTA 5 Military Base Location

Type: Identification.

Fort Zancudo sits on the west side of Blaine County. On the map, it is south of North Chumash and west of Mount Josiah, with Lago Zancudo directly beside it.

1. Open the map and move to the western side of Blaine County.
2. Find North Chumash near the coast.
3. Look just south of North Chumash and west of Mount Josiah.
4. Spot the long airbase runway that reaches toward the shoreline.
5. Use Route 1 and the Great Ocean Highway tunnel under the runway as the final confirmation.

Fort Zancudo Landmarks

Type: Confirmation.

If the standard map still feels vague, use the surrounding landmarks instead of the label. Fort Zancudo sits beside Lago Zancudo, below Mount Josiah, with the Zancudo River to the south and Route 1 to the west.

1. Check that Mount Josiah is directly east of the base.
2. Check that Lago Zancudo wetlands sit beside the base.
3. Check that the Zancudo River runs along the southern edge.
4. Check that Route 1 and the Great Ocean Highway run along the western side.
5. Check that the highway passes under the runway through a tunnel.

Fort Zancudo Vehicles

Type: Recognition.

Vehicle sightings are confirmation clues, not guaranteed timers. Fort Zancudo is commonly associated with the P-996 LAZER, the Rhino, and the Buzzard Attack Chopper.

1. Scan the hangars and runway area for a P-996 LAZER.
2. Scan the main base roads and central area for a Rhino tank.
3. Scan the areas north of the runway for a Buzzard Attack Chopper.
4. Use these vehicle clues as confirmation that you reached Fort Zancudo, not as a promise that every vehicle will always be in the same exact place.

Fort Zancudo Online Access

Type: Behavior Note.

The location does not change in GTA Online. The main difference is access behavior, not map position.

1. Use the exact same west Blaine County location as Story Mode.
2. If the military reacts immediately, treat that as normal Fort Zancudo behavior and not proof that you found the wrong base.
3. If you own a Fort Zancudo hangar in GTA Online, you get low-level access to the area, but hostile actions can still trigger a military response.
