The Marvel Rivals economy isn't as straightforward as most live-service games. With three main currencies at play, Chrono Tokens, Units, and Lattice, knowing how to earn and use them is crucial if you want to maximize your unlocks. If you’re trying to progress through the battle pass, unlock skins, or stack premium items, understanding this currency system is your first step.
In this blog, we'll break down how to get Chrono Tokens, Units, and Lattice in Marvel Rivals, how to use them, and how to make the most of the Season 2 reward structure.
Chrono Tokens are the purple currency used mainly to unlock rewards within the battle pass. You earn them through daily missions, weekly challenges, and event participation. Unlike premium currencies, these can't be bought directly with real money but can be acquired indirectly by converting Lattice.
The important thing here is time. Chrono Tokens expire with the season, unless you bought them with Lattice, in which case, a portion may carry over.
You can earn Chrono Tokens in multiple ways:
Once you complete the final page of the Battle Pass, you unlock the ability to trade extra Chrono Tokens for Units. This 10:1 exchange gives you 100 Units per 1,000 Chrono Tokens. It’s one of the most generous systems seen in battle passes so far.
Chrono Tokens are primarily for unlocking pages and items in the seasonal battle pass. Each page requires a certain amount of Tokens, usually 200 per reward. You can't use them outside of the battle pass except for trading them for Units after finishing all tiers.
If you don’t spend them in time, they reset at season's end. However, there's a catch: if you bought Chrono Tokens using Lattice, a portion is retained for the next season. This retention amount equals the lesser of your remaining Tokens or the Tokens you bought with Lattice.
So if you bought 1,000 Tokens with Lattice and have 500 left when the season ends, you'll keep all 500. But if you have 1,500 left, you only keep 1,000.
Units are the blue currency used for buying cosmetics like skins, nameplates, and rename cards. Units are far more flexible than Chrono Tokens. You can use them across the in-game store and unlock skins and cosmetic items outside the battle pass.
The conversion option appears automatically during purchases or can be activated manually in the store interface.
Lattice is the gold premium currency in Marvel Rivals. You need real money to buy Lattice, and it's required to purchase the Luxury Battle Pass, high-tier skins, and more.
Unfortunately, you can't earn Lattice by playing. It's a one-way street unless the battle pass includes small Lattice amounts as a reward.
The game supports a limited form of conversion:
However, Chrono Tokens cannot be turned back into Lattice. This has caused some confusion among players who see misleading UI elements suggesting otherwise.
If you're playing Marvel Rivals during Season 2, here's how you can stack all three currencies efficiently:
Marvel Rivals is one of the few games to let players carry over unused seasonal currency, but only under specific conditions.
If you buy Chrono Tokens with Lattice and don’t spend them all, a portion survives the reset. Any Tokens earned via the Luxury Pass or from gameplay are wiped.
Here’s how it works:
For example, if you bought 1,200 Tokens with Lattice and ended the season with 800 unused, all 800 carry over. If you had 1,500 unused, only 1,200 stay.
Marvel Rivals has introduced one of the more player-friendly currency systems in modern live-service games. By allowing you to exchange Chrono Tokens for Units, retain purchased Tokens into future seasons, and earn currency via missions and events, the game rewards regular play and spending wisely.
Chrono Tokens are the grind currency. Units are your go-to for cosmetics. Lattice is the premium key that unlocks it all. If you’re swimming in battle pass pages and looking to stack Chrono Tokens before the season resets, buy Marvel Rivals Challenges Boost as it is a time-saver you’ll wish you used earlier. With 24 challenges tied to specific heroes and roles, the grind isn't just long, it’s frustrating.
This boost skips that pain and lets you jump straight into the rewards. You'll finish each page faster, earn more Tokens, and even improve your K/D while our pros handle the tricky parts.
